Everyone seems to be obsessing over him at the moment. His attitude is derived from Oasis (as told in this interview: www.nme.com/news/arctic-monkeys/63756) and I really don't see how putting on an attitude just to look cool is something to obsess over. It's the polar opposite of cool. Is it his voice? Lyrics? Anyone know? Cheers.

And he became real junkie, just look at him now. And its not like when Noel was on cocaine and he was so funny and red in face, this guy looks ill and like he smell bad.

to be honest, AM is one of the finest pieces of music i've heard in a while so he can act whatever he wants.

I dunno, I never found his lyrics to be anything special and I haven't enjoyed their music since the first album. I don't get the hype at all.

Everybody tries to make him a rock n roll star cause there really is no one else around and there is a social hunger for someone like Gallaghers to arrive. But it doesn't work. Doesn't work at all. It fuckin' hurts. It's something like that blowup doll, that Beady’s Here Now mentioned on some other topic here

What is the obsession with Alex Turner?
You tell me, seems strange logic to start a thread about a guy you obviously don't even like, seemingly moaning about people talking of him too much.
If I was to start a thread about everything and everyone I disliked, I'd be here all fucking week. Seems daft to me.

I love his music and I think he's the best songwriter of the noughties He's acting a bit like a dickhead, but till his music is good I don't care People are obsessed with him because Arctic Monkeys are kind of mainstream now, and because they're looking for a character like the Gallaghers were, and he's actually trying to act like them, plus, he's a good looking guy

Why not just be yourself? Affecting an attitude, to me, is only a testament to one's lack of self-respect, and that's unhealthy.

Affecting an attitude, to me, is only a testament to one's lack of self-respect, and that's unhealthy. Exactly, it was "you need to be yourself" what they were sayin' in their first single. Not "you need to be myself". Alex just got the whole thing wrong.

And wtf is going on with this NME ? I liked them on facebook, hoping for music news from UK and Alex Turner is the only fuckin' subject of their posts for months now.
The comment section is brilliant though, never ending riot there.

The better question is what's the obsession with Miles Kane? His first album was kinda good but his second lackluster. People think he's a genius but he's almost 30 and seems to always need a co-writer to pound out material (Turner/Weller).

AM is loaded with filler. Reminds me of Heathen Chemistry. It's that bad. Woah way different opinions on AM. It is in the top three albums by them for me at least. I Want It All is the only downright shit song. Arabella is one of their finest songs ever and Mad Sounds is one of their finer ballads. Could talk about the rest but can't be bothered. Really good night jamz album, but to each their own.

AM is loaded with filler. Reminds me of Heathen Chemistry. It's that bad. In my opinion, AM doesn't come close to touching BHN—an overindulged, cocaine-fuelled album which brought about the onset of Oasis' decline (but still an amazing album). The fact that shit-loads of people find AM to be an amazing album is only a testament to just how shit the mainstream music of today really is.

Don't be sore because nobody gives a shit about the Los Campisnos or whatever the fuck that band is called.

Don't be sore because nobody gives a shit about the Los Campisnos or whatever the fuck that band is called. Here's a staggering statistic for you: My most played in my iTunes, which, of course, doesn't even take into account the listens on my iPhone (which, for LC! is a fucking shit ton). 1. What Death Leaves Behind - Los Campesinos (No Blues, 2013): 68 2. If I Had A Gun - Noel Gallagher (NGHFB, 2011): 51 3. That Kiss - The Courteeners: 44 That 2013 LC! album (No Blues) has been in my iTunes since only October. Less than a fucking year. And I've abused the shit out of it.
