AM is a good album, but that is it, it's nothing extraordinary, the more I have listened to the album the more I found it's faults, and Alex just does not convince when he sings about going out at night and mocking Morrissey maners, he looks stupid doing that.

Couldn't care less about the attitude of Alex Turner, he's still making brilliant music in my opinion. But Arctic Monkeys seem to be the only big band in the UK intent on trying things new all the time, and although his lyrics don't resonate with the 'man on the street' anymore like the first couple of albums, his wordplay is still excellent. I mean, for goodness sake, if we want to talk about talentless arseholes who lumber around acting like dickheads thinking they're great, we have a Kasabian thread for that.

I don't get the fuss with AM..I don't like any of their songs (literally) Not a one? Really? There are plenty of bands that I don't care for as a whole but I still like some of their songs. I meant any of the songs i've listened to, i've only listened to maybe 10 of their songs but they're supposedly their best so..

Everyone seems to be obsessing over him at the moment. His attitude is derived from Oasis (as told in this interview: www.nme.com/news/arctic-monkeys/63756) and I really don't see how putting on an attitude just to look cool is something to obsess over. It's the polar opposite of cool. Is it his voice? Lyrics? Anyone know? Cheers. and Oasis attitude is derived from Stone Roses and there's from the Clash. Oasis weren't the first band with attitude.
like they obsessed over Morrissey/Marr, like they did for the Gallagher's, like they did for Doherty/Barat. Turner always had attitude from the first day we saw the Monkeys, he changes his look and sound of the band for every album. They have released five excellent and different sounding albums. Have the most loyal fanbase since The Smiths. He's the best lyricist since Jarvis Cocker for me. They are a great live act. A band not afraid to rock the boat when it comes to changing the sound.
Yeah NME go overboard on them but they did the same for the Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis, Strokes and Libertines.

And wtf is going on with this NME ? I liked them on facebook, hoping for music news from UK and Alex Turner is the only fuckin' subject of their posts for months now. The comment section is brilliant though, never ending riot there. they did the same for Oasis at their peak. so let's not begin to say it only started with the monkeys.
I gave up on the facebook page when someone said "king of Leon's new album should have got a 10".

Will Champion > Miles Kane Ironically, with the likes of Miles Kane and Jake Bugg, these are the proclaimed 'saviours of music' according to the NME but instead are just more examples of what epitomise the state of the music industry. 'All image, no talent'.

Arctic Monkeys are quality... I think a lot of people on here have an Oasis complex wherein any band that comes absolutely anywhere NEAR their popularity, they get defensive

Yeah, he was one tough son of a bitch 16 year old. Sorta like Kelly Leak from The Bad News Bears. It just annoys me when people just blatantly make shite up to suit their own argument, to say Alex Turner had anything approaching an attitude till at the earliest Suck It & See or AM is just clear bullshit. It annoys me more than that time when Coldplay were touring Parachutes and Chris Martin snorted a line of coke off a tigers back and glassed a midget to death.

Who frontman in biggest band right now, has a supermodel girlfriend, makes millions, has a cool hairdo, writes classics and what exactly do you do? Arcade Fire are bigger and Alex Turner has shit hair. Fuck that. Frank Turner writes better lyrics and songs, and Los Campesinos are consistently better than the Arctic Monkeys - who are good, but vastly overrated. This is actually an interesting observation: Exactly the same overall score, exactly the same review pattern across their discography reviews (both with 5 albums, matches perfectly), yet the AM's have been hyped to no end. Unbelievably overrated. www.metacritic.com/person/los-campesinos! [Have to copy and paste the link as the fucking hyperlink fails to include the "!"]. www.metacritic.com/person/arctic-monkeys

SPOILER: Reading the following will ruin the track, Jeweller's Hands, for you. You won't be able to listen to it the same again. You've been warned.
Oh and this is a serious post and I only noticed it because I was listening to Humbug (and therefore Jeweller's Hands) right now.
Don't get me wrong, Jeweller's Hands is one of the best off of Humbug and is a tune, but the melody during the second half is a direct rip off of Britney Spears' Toxic. How Turner didn't get sued by Spears, I will never know. It's the fucking same just with a slower tempo, and has more similarities than Oasis' Whatever has to Niel Innes' Sweet Idiot song.
It may as well be Britney Spears singing the second half on Jeweller's Hands - It wouldn't be out of place, that's for damn sure.
Direct Copy. Same fucking thing:

Well, he's very, very talented and he writes brilliant lyrics. Also, him being the good looking chap that he is, seems to endear him to teenage girls just about everywhere at the minute. And, he's the frontman of probably the best band around at the moment, whether they should be or not...
However, in my opinion, his voice is unbelievably mediocre and, try as he might to be more than just a kid with a guitar and a microphone, he's no frontman. Also, he murdered 'All My Loving' by The Beatles a month or so ago, for which there is no excuse.
Oh, and he looks like a douche more often than not and that BRITS award speech was seriously cringey.
Annnnnnd, he HAS got a shit hair do... IMO of course

this is an interesting topic. I like Arctic Monkeys but could care less about Alex Turner. I have no idea what kind of hairstyles he's had, his "attitude" or how he acts at live shows and speeches. I enjoy most of the music, the variety of styles he can pull off is exceptional to me. His lyrics are usually quite clever. Two of my favorites to listen to are that cover of "Love Machine" from RadioOne that cracks me up every time, and I recently found their cover of "Baby Im Yours", I mean the fact that the same guy who did Dance Floor and RU Mine? can do that style so awesome, is awesome lol AM was quite "blah", besides Do I Wanna Know and Whyd you Only Call Me When Your High (is there an abbr. for that??) I wasn't particularly enthused. so Im a fan of most of their music but certainly NOT obsessed with Alex. Serge & Tom are much more fun to watch and listen to outside of the music

GOD man you caught me saying one of my own pet peeves lol I swear when I speak I make a point to say 'COULDNT' care less. 'could' is one of English's most retarded expressions but maybe it was a subconscious slip
