I didn't know what to call this thread. It was between Extra Time and Kick Off. And I was trying to think of other creative names, too. So if anyone has suggestions, list them and I may consider changing the name accordingly if I like the name enough.
Anyway, this thread is devoted to discussing all those topics that come up during a season, during the World Cups, during the Euros, and during the off season.
It can relate to what's currently occurring, or it could be whatever you think is warranting a disscussion.
Topics can include, but not limited to, money in the EPL, Mourinho's antics, why the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup are played at Wembley (cough), the idea of the WC in Qatar being played in the winter, etc.
I know these topics will still be discussed in the EPL Thread, but thought it would be a good idea to get a general thread devoted to any football related discussion or debates.
Looking forward to having many debates on the best sport in the world.
And with that, I blow the whistle. Kick Off.

Mourinho is a legend and make football more interesting and for me more enjoyable. The semi-finals of the FA Cup should not be played at Wembley only the final should and the final should always be the last game of the domestic season (play-offs excluded) Qatar should not be hosting the world cup no matter the season..

There should be a short midwinter break , the world don't end , Germany does it. And look at there success in club championships , the season is long and the game is played at the highest speed , a nice 3 week break would help all fans included

EI EI EI OH, UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE.. Oh fuck off Rovers!
If I had a penny for every good lead we've throw away this season :@ If we don't hammer Yeovil 5-0 on Friday I'll be very disappointed. 12 points still to play for, COYB.
Great idea creating this thread by the way Beady Eyed Pigeon, what with the end of the season and the World Cup on the way it'll be nice to have all the banter, celebrations and despair all in one thread

Thoughts on football today?
British football desperately needs to change its ways and tactics if it is to succeed on the national stage. Britain should be flooded with the sort of youth coaching of Germany, Spain and Italy who all have success on the international stage. Instead, we don't have nearly as much youth coaches, and emphasise long ball tactics over attacking attractive and technical style of play. Young managers today such as Martinez and Rodgers provide hope that British players can play in a continental style.
Scottish football is so dire at the moment - never has it been in a worse situation. I don't think there's ever been a time when the Scottish Premier League has been so poor. Gut-wrenching.

Are you sure about that? Your man was a pathetic joke today and a complete laughing stock amongst media and fans alike - no doubt the FA will throw the book at the whole club. Everyone involved with that club today were a complete disgrace to the game. A real stain on English football.

If you were a player, you'd be Almunia As a kid, beginning around age 5 or 6, keeper was my position, and I would proclaim myself as David Seaman. True story. I also dabble as a striker, and in 10th grade dropped down from left wing/striker starter on JV the previous year, to 3rd team so I could play in goal cos the fucker's wouldn't give me a fair trial due to their "unofficial" recruitment policy, since I hadn't had any official training..... (For what it's worth, when I was 14, I did summer camps with the Philadelphia Kixx - indoor professional soccer team - and their keeper, Peter Pappas, told me I was the best he's seen play at those camps. All natural ability, too. Those high school coaches can suck it, but I digress). ....and in one game, we were losing 2-1 cos of our poxy defense. In the last minute, the coach swapped me from keeper to striker, and I ended up scoring the equalizer. From David Seaman to fucking Thierry Henry in seconds. Pick that one out. Suffice it to say, I went back to JV Senior year, and scored around 6 to 8 goals before getting injured. Our varsity was ranked in the top 10 in the nation at the time, just to give you an idea: articles.philly.com/2005-10-20/sports/25442270_1_cumberland-valley-pennsylvania-team-patriotsGood times.

While the quality of Scottish football isn't great at the moment, I'd hardly call it dire, for a country of our size it isn't too bad. The Premier League has been much more exciting this season with the relegation play-off spot, as with 4 games to go there's still 5 teams who could end up in it. A similar thing could be said about the championship, there's still 3 teams who could win the league with 2 games to go.

But I think clubs like the 'New Firm' ones mentioned should lead the way in being a bit more innovative and adventurous in tactics. Good tactics will help playing development.

I'm thinking of changing my display name to BRFC, ya know, just to show the lads a bit of support. 2 points adrift with 3 games left, I think I'm gonna cry.

Just thought I'd start off my post with a big 'fuck you' to ESPN, its disgraceful that you still haven't corrected the mistake on your league table, which was my favourite table. No longer.
What Rovers need now:
Forest to beat Brighton (possible) Wigan to be beaten by Birmingham by 2 goals preferably Us to beat Wigan on Saturday by 2 goals preferably!
I believe in miracles!
RTID.

Birmingham don't look capable of beating anyone at the moment though, let alone wigan by 2 goals.

that is not dire football. That is fantastic, I could watch that all day, this is what Scottish football is meant to be like. Me saying Scottish football is 'dire' is a bit of an overstatement if I'm honest, I look at it far too much in the context of Celtic and Rangers who are contributing nothing to Scottish football I feel. What have Dundee Utd done to make their youth set up so good - there were a lot of youngsters playing in that match yesterday? I know its a long shot, but I hope they get 2nd, and fingers crossed in the cup final also.

Dundee United have always had a decent youth setup but they've had a lot of younger players coming through this season. Funny to think that one of the reasons Peter Houston left them was that he didn't think the youth players were good enough to come into the first team.
Quite a lot of Scottish clubs, particularly in the lower leagues, are using their youth system's often now. Both Falkirk and Hamilton are challenging for the 1st division with squads featuring a lot of players who've been brought through their youth setup's. I support Airdrie and yesterday we had 5 players starting who've came from our under 19s and another 3 on the bench, and it's similar for other teams in our league.
