Is This It 8. You Only Live Once 9. Meet Me In The Bathroom? 10. Under Cover Of Darkness 11. Reptilia 12. Juicebox 13. Barely Legal 14. The End Has No End 15. Machu Picchu Honorable Mention: Soma Album breakdown. Is This It? - 5/6 Room on Fire - 5 First Impressions of the Earth - 3 Angles - 2

There's just something somehow exhausting about 'Room On Fire' i can't get into. 'Hard to Explain' is also a good song that definitely stands out. Maybe there's a lack of melody or it's the general mood of the record. That's why I prefer Julian Casablancas' solo record. I like the summery feel of it. I like 'Comedown Machine'!

Yeah I have to agree that Reptilia is their best song along with Hard to Explain for me but I honestly can't remember any of those others. I remember they had a song which sounded like Barry Manilow, was that on ROF or FIOE? That's the one! Barry never sounded so good

Don't get me wrong New York City Cops is a good song but I'd still put Trying Your Luck, Take It Or Leave It, and maybe Alone Together ahead of it. Just proves that Is This It is a superb album. If people keep doing their lists I expect to see just about every track on it represented over the course of these listings, which is an amazing feat and again proves just how amazing that album is.

Trying Your Luck is so underrated, love that song so much. must be honest it was the song that first stood out when I got the album back in 2001.

I think NYCC stands out more to me because it wasn't on the US Release. I didn't hear the song till years later. I need to put my list together this weekend.

^^Hawaii is a great B-side. Along with Modern Girls and Old Fashioned Men (feat. Regina Spektor) and their covers of Clampdown (the Clash) and Life's a Gas (Ramones). But I don't knwo if there are any other B-sides worth seeking out. I should take a look...

Most of their b-sides of the early singles(the ones from is this it to 12:51 are just demos aka home recording of some songs). There's a cover of Mercy Mercy Me(the ecology) that features Josh Homme and Eddie Vedder in one of the FIOE, that's the other one I see worth checking ut(besides the one you previously mentionated).

It obviously got pulled and repackaged.

Nobody had any idea who the Strokes were yet in America so it went completely unnoticed. I wouldn't trust everything on Wiki. There has to be more people like me out there who bought the album prior to October re-release date. I see on Ebay people selling the original vinyl before getting pulled. They describe the same sort of events I am.

According to itunes Rollingstone All I know is that in September 2001, I bought the US version of The Strokes "Is This It" from The Hoodlums record store on the campus of Arizona State. Later that week news broke the album was being pulled and going to be re-released the following month because of the track NYC Cops. Knowing that the album would probably be a collectable, I went back to buy more but the store clerks told me they had to pull them all. Next time I visited my parents, I'll retrieve the album from my old room to look over the liner notes. I'm 99% sure it is all US based. After all when do imports cost $10?

I remember paying more than $10 for the Oasis import singles. Not saying you are wrong just never heard of that before. Plus how long have you been out of your parents house and you still have your room there?

Totally agree with the comments on here. Is This It? is untouchable, one of those albums like Definitely Maybe which are not only brilliant but catch a mood or time as well. Room on Fire is massively underrated and has some amazing songs on it.
Angles & FIOE also have some great songs but too many uninspired songs, I actually love Comedown Machine. It could still be just because it's new but it feels like they have evolved and have a passion back and despite there being few standout tracks, as a record it works really well. A-ha similarities aside I think One Way Trigger is a brilliant song.
