Dont forget bands have other revenue streams, Merch, festivals, tours, royalties, so i doubt they are in red. The actual albums make little money for anyone, they are merely promotional items for the money making tours!

Merch tables stocked high.

Looking at those figures they are very unlucky not to be a band with two no.1 albums by now.

What album did Ellie Goulding release this year? Are those re-entries of a previous album? I'm pretty sure she hasn't released a new album since 2012. So her numbers are actually amazing. I believe the album you're mentioning has sold a total over 800k copies in the UK. The Bastille numbers are also for a re-entry. The album you're siting sold double platinum in the UK. The actual issue with Beady Eye were two things: 1.) The first week sales 2.) sustainability. Of the artists you listed, only one had matched Beady Eye's "current" total in the UK. The rest had surpassed it. Honestly, looking objectively, it appears you said exactly why Beady Eye's album campaign sales wise didn't stack up with other artists who had #1's. They continued to sell, Beady Eye hasn't. I personally don't think there's anyway to defend Beady Eye's numbers as anything but disappointing, that's not included worldwide sales. Hopefully they have better luck next time and people can hear what might be a good follow-up, but this era, sales wise, was a wash.

Looking at those figures they are very unlucky not to be a band with two no.1 albums by now. What does a #1 matter if they're haven't sold 90k in the UK? Is it great to have? Yes. But would it actually help Beady Eye, while having sub 90k sales? I don't think so. Being #2 certainly didn't help them. If I had a choice between chart position and sustainable sales, so an album charting #5, but selling well over 150k copies in it's sales run, I'd take sustainable sales. Beady Eye need to grow an audience. And a chart position doesn't mean anything, if it's not backed-up with their album remaining in the charts longer than a couple of weeks.

I think Beady Eye should just concentrate on making quality music, tour it but not over tour it and let the chips fall where they may. A lot of things are working against Beady Eye right now such as musical landscape and age. Right now I just want a 3rd album.

I agree in the long run that higher sales figures are better than number 1's.
But if an album gets to number 1 it helps maintain and increase sales by being able to advertise 'the number 1 album by beady eye, available now' etc.
It also changes people's perspective that may not of listened to them. In their heads it must be number 1 for a reason, so they go out and buy it.
Had they both gone to number 1, in articles, marketing, interviews etc it sounds really good and helps future sales of that album and future albums.
Beady Eye will always have us lot. It's getting it that little bit wider than needs achieving for them to bother/it be feasible for a 3rd album.
Fingers crossed anyway.

IMO, BE's relative failure sales-wise had very little to do with marketing, radio play, choice of singles, etc.
The main causes I see are: 1. DGSS was a mediocre album. It had public curiosity going for it when it was released, and Beady Eye squandered that. Nobody was interested in BE when it came out, and marketing can only do so much to address that. 2. The public perception of the band is negative. Liam's "troubles" last year just solidified that.
How to fix these and make the third album sell: 1. Improve songwriting. 2. Publicly patch things up with Noel between today and album 3.
Edit: Also, I still think a Liam Gallagher solo album would sell far better than either DGSS or BE based on name alone...

Fingers crossed anyway. The issue is that for that to happen it would have to take more than a #1 album. Maybe they get #1, then maybe they add let's say an optimistic estimate: 20k extra sales. That's still a large drop from DGSS to BE. As xo0oo0ox said, Beady Eye had a ton of headwind with events that followed the album. Would a #1 really have changed that much? Maybe and I would hope so because that gives a chance that the same could be possible with the third album. It would also give fans, who I feel are feeling the pinch of not only poor management, but poor sales, a chance at seeing them live. But as someone said, they need to get to the point where they're building an audience and not losing one before a #1 album means anything, but one good week in the sun.

Speculative vacuousness or speculative realism (which include correlationism, speculative materialism, et al.)? ...Let's wait and see how this play out, shall we?

At this stage in their career this isn't what they need at all they just need to make the records they want, do whatever gigs they can do and enjoy the ride.. They aren't ever gonna be mainstream EVER but they have an audience which are interested, tho lots and lots of nay sayers who definitely aren't no matter what they say. The amount of albums, vinyls, gig tickets and merch at least in the uk are seeing them good over the 2 albums not the scale of 'pop' acts or oasis market but??? They don't need ££ to survive, they don't need 'the fame'.

I agree that I don't think they need it.
But i strongly believe liam feels that he does and needs to be of a considerable size to go on.
I'm happy for gigs, album, however it does in the charts i don't care and we all know Liam don't need the money or whatever but as much as they will never be as big as oasis, they're a huge way off being where liam sees adequate.
He wants arena shows at least. Pride not money.
I'm not saying they won't continue but this will be his biggest concern of releasing a 3rd.

Liam's ego needs the adulation but he also knows it's not gonna happen thus.. He's had his midlife crisis, fathered another love child, lost his wife and got a new young bint, prob back on the coke .. His ego is the only thing not allowing bdi to be as good as they could be.. Anyone who's been to at least the u.k bdi gigs would agree they been 95%? As good as any gallagher gig post 2000?

I don't get the debate to be honest. Beady Eye are a little band selling ok numbers and playing to a decent amount of people in certain places in the world.
Simple as that. I'm more interested in the quality of music they put out and the gigs they play. I thought from what i saw on the Euro tour they now have a great setlist with a bit of variety.
People seem to have a need to say they are doing well or badly. I think they are about right for what they are.

Ye you're happy with the quality of the music. But what do the band want?
It doesn't matter what you want when considering their next move.
I'm happy too with an album. But are they...

They desperately need to announce a summer/autumn tour and release an EP of new songs. Maybe with FOTF as the lead track to promote the album.
I still can't believe that since the album leak we have had exactly ZERO new material!
Absurd.

I think a lot of the problem isn't just a lack of interest - I get the feeling a lot of the British public simply don't like Liam Gallagher.
It frustrates me, but looking at the comments section of any Liam news article shows so much negativity. They comment saying they can't stand him, they comment saying Oasis were a "horrible, loutish band" and they therefore don't give Beady Eye a look-in.
It doesn't help that the positive comments about Liam in the news are always along the lines of "wooooo go liam! Madferit!" - this doesn't really help rationally disprove the naysayers.
Even if he's done no wrong, even if it's an innocent article where he's got no one pregnant, the general consensus is that they'd like to burn his clothes.
Annoying, predictable and a little bit weird.

Perception of Liam would have very little to do with Beady Eye sales, Oasis certainly didn't struggle with Liam's Image. Beady need a short run of decent size gigs in the summer, Castlefield in Manchester for example... get a bit of a buzz back around the band again!

But Oasis were generally a more popular and relevant band, a lot of people had great memories with them. The tides began turning in the late 00s, if Liam was as popular as he was even in the last 10 years, Beady Eye would be more successful.

I think Pretty Green has definitely damaged Liam's reputation. Even now after all the years the idea of Liam Gallagher having his own clothing line still seems strange. And by the way I do quite like the label / own a few items.
It's the sort of thing that if anyone else in the music industry did Liam would have no bother shoring them down in flames for doing so. I think its Definitely made the public view him as a bit of a hypercrit / fake
To this day I find it fairly embarrassing when asked what shirt I'm wearing and I say Pretty Green.... Liam Gallagers label. Even though I do love all my pretty green items!
