oh, by the way, the new springsteen album is fantastic. it may be a bit of a mish-mash of previous works but i highly recommend,, any fan of the boss will love it.... the album just serves up track after track of classic-sounding bruce. digging it! Yeah, the album's all bits and pieces written over the last few years, so doesn't really have a coherent theme running though it, but taking them individually and its still typical brilliant Springsteen. He's got loads and loads of material, apparently a full album that is yet to be released around the time he did Streets of Philadelphia. Did you hear the NPR interview he did? www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2014/01/14/262485987/a-long-road-to-high-hopes-an-interview-with-bruce-springsteenHe discusses that album. I love Streets of Philadelphia but Im not sure I want to hear an entire Springsteen album with drum loops.

Cheers for this, am I right in thinking he recently did a long interview with one of the main music journals - Rolling Stone? Don't think he'd do an album full of drum loops! It's very minimal instrumentation probably because that was the era in which he dumped the E Street Band.

Just got the new Rifles album and Temples' debut album is on the way to my door. How is the new Rifles one? I enjoyed their first, but the third one was terrible. Dreamer was the only song I really liked, but still that song and the album as a whole was really cliche and a bit too sleek for them. Temples album I haven't been too impressed with bar a couple songs. I could see them getting better though. Tame Impala is obviously in a another league in my opinion, but the step from their first to their second album was pretty big. Went from good to amazing. I can see Temples maybe making the jump from okay to pretty good next time around. Also I just heard the 3 new St. Vincent tracks and my God she's brilliant, those three tracks alone are diverse. Birth In Reverse is excellent, excellent guitar licks perfectly art punk. She's one of the best artists and musicians we have, and it looks like she is only getting better.

I didn't like their last album, it was terrible. I loved "The Great Escape". I fell into love with the band when I heard this album title song. It's a pefect pop song and I hever had enough to listen to it. I've seen their acoustic gig 3 years ago, but am going to see them in May again. This time isn't acoustic. Only a couple of days, then I can join you and Lennon to talk about Temples album. Stay tuned.

Speaking of which...just arrived today: I'm listening to the entire album as I type and now track 10,Test of Time. I like "The Guesser" too, but the best song from the album is still Shelter Song. Think they could have been more "experimental" with this promised debut album. PS: Lennon2217, you're an American with a British sense of humour.

Speaking of "Test of Time", that has quickly become one of my favorites on the album along with Shelter Song, Keep In the Dark and Mesmerise.

It is a compliment, Lennon2217.
BTW, I'm seeing Temples in April again. Last time when I saw them, they had a very short set, less than an hour. Also no encore and and no banter at all. Hopefully they'll play a little bit longer next time.

I know a lot of you aren't hip hop/rap fans but De La Soul put up all their albums for free. Really one of the best and innovative groups in their genre. Anyone can groove to one of their songs.

Early Album of the Year contender St. Vincent - St. Vincent.
She is one of the best we've got. She is just continues to constantly peak. She proves that rock n' roll is art. She has only gotten better with each release and all of her releases are at least great in my mind. Really impressed with this release.

I've only listened to the first few songs from the new Rifles album. It sounds like they're back to their old sound.

Rumours around that Coldplay will release a single entitled 'Magic' in May and that Swedish director Jonas Akerlund has filmed the music video in LA for the tune starring Peter Fonda.

Like others on here, I really liked Temples' album. Thought it was quite solid throughout without much filler. I've also really enjoyed The Family Rain's debut and Bombay Bicycle Club's new album.
