New Spoon single "Do You". i m so glad that finally someone here post something by Spoon. Great band with a few amazing albums and tracks. many of their tracks (vocals) reminds me of an alternative US version of Liam ...!!! they got their Beatles and britpop influences ( no one talking about it sadly...) and bring them to their tracks with their own unique way i m waiting to hear their new album

These new Spoon songs are really good. All they're albums are at least great. It will be one of the highlights of the year for sure and it has a chance to be top 3 I think for this year.
Seriously Spoon has been the most consistent rock n' roll band of the 00's. Those that don't listen to them are really missing out.

New La Roux album has leaked. It has been five year since her last album. Her single gave me some Bowie and ABBA vibes. She has some killer singles.
Jungle's album is pretty solid haven't given it enough spins.
Still processing A Sunny Day In Glasgow's new album. A lot of sounds in there to get your head around.
Lykke Li's new album (not so new anymore) is merely okay. It is a breakup album so you kinda have to be in the right mood. Her second album was superb yes, it was sappy but some of those tracks had some venom in them. This album is just full of ballads.

Still processing A Sunny Day In Glasgow's new album. A lot of sounds in there to get your head around. I've seen them at London Calling in 2010. They were one of the openers of the first day of this indoor festival where I'm a regular visitor of since 2008. They didn't amaze me to be honest. They played in a upstairs hall and in the main hall Erland and Carnival were the opener of the evening.

They're like an US version of Kula Shaker to me! I could dedicate a whole thread to this band! 'Rent I Pay' is 100 %! Which early Oasis song does this remind me of, Cloudburst? I can hear a bit of I'm the walrus too! Rainy Taxi looks good as well!

I'm looking forward to the new, self-titled Inspiral Carpets album. Will be interesting, with the new-old singer. According to amazon.de it will be released the same day as the MG Remaster, which would make for a nice package, if they arrive together.

They were one of the openers of the first day of this indoor festival where I'm a regular visitor of since 2008. They didn't amaze me to be honest. They played in a upstairs hall and in the main hall Erland and Carnival were the opener of the evening. Yeah they kind of underwhelm you with their overwhelmingness. There's 6 of them in the group right? they should expand live. If they did something like The Polyphonic Spree it might be better. La Roux's new album is great. I mean really great and it is pure fun. It is a concise 9 songs but it covers a decent amount of ground. Has a lot of caribbean synth vibes with tracks like Cruel Sexuality, Sexotheque, and Tropical Chancer. It has two killer ballads: the touching slow burning Paradise Is You and the sassy and dark Let Me Down Gently. Silent Partner is a pulsating dance floor track that has a synth hook that sounds similar to Arcade Fire's "We Exist". Uptight Downtown and Kiss and Not Tell are charming pieces of electro pop that hark back to her earlier work. The closing trackThe Feeling is sparse with instrumentation but it one of the more personal songs that they have recorded. One of my favorites from this year. Might crack the top 5 probably will crack the top 10. As for that Spoon song. Damn... They just continue to prove that they are one of the best bands around. Their album will be one of the best of the year I'm sure of it and maybe one of the best from them ever. They are the most consistently great rock n' roll band out there now. Their songs are expertly crafted and minimal but have just the right amount of artistic tinge to them, that makes them sound unique and keep you coming back for more.

Those who are fans of reverb drenched indie rock/pop should check out Alvvays's self-titled album it is a perfect album for these sunny days. Adult Diversion and Archie, Marry Me are really good indie rock songs. It isn't anything ground breaking but those who are fans of Best Coast and 90's indie rock (Pixies) should at least give those two songs a go. One of the surprises of this year.

The Williams brothers from Doves have created a side band called Black Rivers. Album out next year. Free Download Single www.blackriversofficial.com/From Manchester Evening News The brothers behind Manchester band Doves have formed new group Black Rivers - and will make their live debut in the city next week.
Jez and Andy Williams were two-thirds of Doves together with frontman Jimi Goodwin and achieved major success with four hit albums in ten years.
But after their 2009 album Kingdom of Rust the band went on indefinite hiatus, with Jimi releasing new solo material this year.
Now the Williams brothers are to debut new material as Black Rivers - and will make their first live appearance at Gullivers in the Northern Quarter on Thursday, July 31.
Sharing vocal duties, Jez is playing bass and keyboards, with Andy contributing piano in addition to their regular instruments.
Jez says: “Some bands are rooted in the reality of the here and now.
“I suppose we’ve always been about escapism: searching for something. That’s the link, but I wouldn’t want to think we sound too much like Doves. The exciting thing about Black Rivers is that we had the freedom to go wherever we wanted.”
The brothers have been working together musically for over 20 years, initially as dance act Sub Sub which scored a chart hit in the 1990s with Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use).
They regrouped as Doves in 2000 and released four albums, the classic Lost Souls debut, and No.1 hits Last Broadcast in 2002 and Some Cities in 2005, while their last release, 2009’s Kingdom of Rust peaked at number 2 before the band decided on a break from each other and pursued projects alone.
But gradually, the brothers have found themselves making music together once again, and after drifting back together the duo decamped to a remote cottage in Anglesey last winter in order to write and record new material as Black Rivers.
Andy says: “We just drifted back together. It made sense. After 20 years we’re still absolutely crazy about making music. We’re the lucky ones.”
As for the only downside to working as a duo as opposed to a trio, they say they now find it harder to agree on anything, because no one has the casting vote. The name, it seems, was a particular cause of consternation. Jez wanted Help. Andy liked the juxtaposition of Black and River, and won the day.
“But there’s some Polish heavy metal band called Black River,” he chuckles. “We saw a photo of them and they look pretty handy, so we thought we’d better stick an ‘S’ on the end!”
Debut track The Ship combines an electro arpeggio with a haunting melody reminiscent of a seafaring Nick Drake, and will be available for free download from July 24th at blackriversofficial.com.
The band will also play Kendal Calling on August 2, and further live dates are expected to be confirmed imminently, with the band’s debut album planned for release early in 2015.
