I’ll listen to this album soon, when I get time to listen to the whole thing in one hit, but I did click a link on here to Exile. Absolutely adore it. I feel it’s a contemporary version of The Beautiful South’s A Little Time.

I’ll say it: ‘folklore’ is phenomenal.

Never been a fan, but personally i do feel she's gone downhill in recent years.
Her earlier, more acoustic work had an innocence that really appealed to me, but over the last 5 years she's become more and more of an over-confident, Madonna-esque pop diva. And IMO, the music has somewhat suffered, with newer hits like Ready for It and especially Look What You Made Me Do coming off as quite lazy and repetitive.

So I guess I'm the last person on earth to "discover" Taylor Swift. Of course I knew who she was, I had heard like two or three of her hits without paying any attention to them, like any other person. Then I got curious enough lately to actively listen to a few of her recent songs, but only because I heard they were bad, and I'm a bad person.
Anyway... have I missed out all this time?!? I get that this album might be different from the majority of her other stuff, but putting this on it was quickly evident to me that this girl is talented as fuck. I've only heard it all the way through once, but the songs in the first half I've replayed a lot. I don't know if I think all of them are great, but they're all good and memorable in some way. Some really nice hooks, and the lyrics are mostly great too.
So apart from the first half being so enjoyable, the other reason I've waited with going back to the second half is simply because I'm afraid I won't end up liking it as much. Okay, there's a third reason too - I mean where the fuck do you go after you've heard August?! That one just floored me, what a blissful emotional gutpunch. To me it's like if Champagne Supernova would have been in the middle of WTSMG, I feel a similair need to press pause after August like I do after hearing the waves in the outro(obvious exception being that nothing follows those waves).
Finishing point, because it's getting late. I don't care if you(YOU who might read this that also doesn't know too much about Taylor Swift) listen to the full album or not, but you absolutely MUST listen to Cardigan, Exile and August, quite frankly it should be the obligation of anyone who claims to be a music fan.

Ive only listened to Folklore twice.
Liked it on first listen, felt apathetic the second time round. Need to give it more of a chance.

Taylor is also gonna be on the new Big Red Machine album. AKA.......the side band of Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon. Synergy.

I've liked a handful of her songs and been indifferent to the rest, but I really like folklore. I think it might be the one that makes me a Swift fan. I like this laid-back vibe a lot more than some her heavier pop stuff (for one thing, I don't think she has the voice for that genre).

Wasn't into Folklore on first listen but it grew on me. This one... just not really happening. Feels like leftovers. It's not bad (except the HAIM duet which is total generic nothing) but none of it at all is jumping out at all. I think both Lover and Folklore suffer from being a couple of tracks too long and this just feels like an extension of Folklore. Strange one, like the songs are too good to sit in a drawer forever but also not good enough to make an album.
