I feel that I'm going to get crucified for this thread, but never mind. For the last 3 months, I've been surrounded by people who only listen to bubblegum pop, so I've heard Taylor Swift's infectiously catchy I Knew Never Get Back Together, You Were Trouble, 22, and Love Story. I liked them, as far as pop songs go, these are good. I was talking to someone and he told me her album wasn't all like that, and that I would like it. So I downloaded her latest 2012 album, Red, and it's really fucking good. Her songs remind me of Kelly Clarkson's Since You've Been Gone (which is also a very good pop song). And she writes her own material, and there's no auto tune. I don't mind her tbh.
You can hear she's a genuine singer / song writer.. obv some tunes are produced to be pop but...
Any one who writes their own music and can sing deserves respect regardless..
I think she'll drop the pop side in next 3-4 years and become a more 'repsected' artist

At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with pop music. It is the way a lot of it is packaged and comes about that irritates.
for example, i don't like Take That but it's easy to see their appeal and Barlow has been to them what the chief was to Oasis. Whereas One Direction are just a gang of tossers with no outstanding talent and faces I would like to punch.

I found her insufferable. I ussually do with "artists" who are thrown in my face as the best thing ever by the media, like her, Lana del Rey (sorry, Bruno  ) or anything that comes out of American Idol/The Voice/name any other crappy competition show.
