Trapped in a prism In a prism of light Alone in the darkness Darkness of white We fell in love Alone on a stage In the reflective age
Entre la nuit, la nuit et l’aurore. Entre le royaume, des vivants et des morts.
If this is heaven I don’t know what it’s for If I can’t find you there I don’t care
I thought I found a way to enter It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor) I thought I found the connector It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor)
The signals we send Are deflected again We’re still connected But are we even friends?
We fell in love when I was nineteen And I was staring at a screen
Entre le nuit, le nuit et l’aurore. Entre les voyants, les vivants et les morts.
If this is heaven I need something more Just a place to be alone Cause you’re my home???
I thought I found a way to enter It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor) I thought I found the connector It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor)
It’s just a reflection of a reflection Of a reflection of a reflection
Will I see you on the other side? We all got things to hide
It’s just a reflection of a reflection Of a reflection of a reflection
Will I see you on the other side? We all got things to hide
Alright, let’s go back
Our song escapes On neon silver discs Our love is plastic We’ll break it to bits
I want to break free But will they break me? Down, down, down Don’t mess around
I thought I found a way to enter It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor) I thought I found the connector It’s just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor)
Thought you would bring me to the ressurector Turns out it was just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor) Thought you would bring to me the ressurector Turns out it was just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor) Thought you would bring to me the ressurector Turns out it was just a Reflektor (It’s just a Reflektor)
It’s a Reflektor It’s just a Reflektor Just a Reflektor
Will I see you on the other side?
It’s just a Reflektor
Will I see you on the other side? We all got things to hide
It’s just a Reflektor
Will I see you on the other side?

I was definitely let down by the new Pearl Jam album. Nothing really grabs me even after 2 months of it being out. Shame really. I liked a handful of the tunes off their previous album Backspacer and felt like the band was still going strong. Oh well, at least they still kick MAJOR ass live.

I don't check out new stuff that often so for me, BE rules 2013. man I went back several pages and couldn't find a single thread for it, deserves an APPRECIATION THREAD people lol. everytime I listen it still blows me away. the spacey instrumentals, the lyrics, vocals. I swear Start Anew came up randomly on shuffle 3 times on my ride to/from work January 1st and sent chills up my spine lol

don't think anyone has mentioned the manics album which is very good especially the track with lucy rose Definitely in there and completely forgot (though I bought it late on in the year), I thought it was their best album in a long long time. And mimmihopps, definitely agree with your assertion on the live4ever site that Pedestrian Verse should be in the list of best albums of 2013. Genuinely, honestly, really - I think it is Frightened Rabbit's best album, just pipping Midnight Organ Fight. How they are not more well known is beyond me.

"The Midinght Organ Fight" is still their best album to me. After so many years, this album never bores me and "Pedestrian Verse" is quite close to this one.

I know this is an oasis website but I don't know how anyone can believe BE is one of the best albums of the year.

I know this is an oasis website but I don't know how anyone can believe BE is one of the best albums of the year. A lot of the people that have stated it's their favourite album of 2013 have also said they don't really listen to new music. So in that case, it genuinely would be their favourite of 2013, as it would be the only thing they've heard.

#they'remadferitGod bless. indeed sir ! seriously tho only other 2013 albums I got were johnny marr and AM, neither one did it for me, and Shangri La which I loved but not 'best' material. so call my contribution to the thread irrelevant if you like but BE still rocks it for me

At least nobody here is falling head over heels for Lorde/LDR/Vampire Weekend/CHVRCHES so we have that going for us. I fixed that that. Chvrches deserves all the praise they get. So do HAIM. I've downloaded Vampire Weekend's new album, but haven't listened to it yet - I have a very heavy list of artist and albums I just found out about to listen to, including Blood Orange - I can't wait to hear that one. Might check out Chance the Rapper, never even heard of him until cast bitched about him in a rant that included the artists above, too.

HAIM is really boring, really MOR, all style no substance for me. They've gotten acclaim, so it's cool if people like them or whatever, but they remind me of a better NME band. Safe pop songs that don't really grab me or make me want to listen to them again. Vampire Weekend's album is good, but I don't think it is one of the best albums of the year. Chance just isn't my thing. My favorite rap music isn't a 20 year juvenilely rapping about his life with his rich friends in Chicago. Give me ScHoolboy Q's new album over him any day. Blood Orange nice producer, but that's about it. His album was hit and miss. You like poppier stuff and everyone's entitled to their own opinion, so fair enough, glad you enjoy them.

2013
So many releases from my fav bands in 2013 but imo 2013 was actually a (very) bad year…so hard to find an album to love from start to finish and stand the test of time…
Ok, for now, my "2013 Albums List" looks like...
1. Arctic Monkeys – “AM” ( A great album from start to finish, cohesive, clever and ambitious. An interesting intriguing and challenging amalgama of indie with rnb that puts them to a new level). 2. Beady Eye – “BE” (...It doesn’t deserve to be so high but, you know, it was my favorite album of the year. The tracks from the deluxe versions could put it in he top 10 easily). 3. Queens of the Stone Age – “...Like Clockwork” (…Like Bomb, what a band.Again.And Again!) 4. Arcade Fire – “Reflektor” (Half of the songs make it album of the year by miles, the other half keep it here…or (should bring it) even lower). 5. Parquet Courts – “Light Up Gold” (My favorite new band. This is it). 6. Crocodiles – “Crimes Of Passion” (Album of the summer, melodic, orgasmic, noisy indie). 7. Manic Street Preachers - "Rewind the Film" (One of the most underrated albums of the year. Its better than most of their albums, a mature , emotional and beautiful piece of work, much better than most of the new big/cool/hyped bands around. Should be in any list). 8. Jake Bugg – “Shangri La” (An amazing talent and artist, capable of even greater things. The future belongs to him). 9. Suede – “Bloodsports” (They are back in form and style like they used to in the 90s). 10. My Bloody Valentine - “mbv” (Not a personal favorite but its so hard to resist in such a great piece of music.)
11. Deerhunter – "Monomania" (Deerhunter can do no wrong) 12. The National – “Trouble Will Find Me” (Even a not so good album by them could bring them high in any list) 13. David Bowie - "The Next Day" (Not in the mood for the whole album. still a God…) 14. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - "Push the Sky Away" (Not in the mood, but definitely deserves a place in the top 10. An album for any year). 15. Atoms For Peace – "Amok" (Weakest Thom York moment to date, but still a beautiful piece of work). 16. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Mosquito" (Any YYYs album is always a yeah yeah Yes!) 17. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Specter at the Feast" (Love still burns... some amazing moments here). 18. Johnny Marr – “The Messenger” (Surprisingly, many great moments). 19. Foals – “Holy Fire” (Not in the mood to dig it). 20. Franz Ferdinand – “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” (Had its moments).
The let downs…
1. Arcade Fire - "Reflektor"(Half album of the year, half WTF let down). 2. The Strokes - "Comedown Machine" (Not just a let down, it’s The WTHell Letdown). 3. The Flaming Lips – "The Terror" (In the Flaming Lips world works perfect and bringS to me/fans promises of a whole new golden era, but it still a hard to listen to album…) 4. Deerhunter – "Monomania" ( every Deerhunter album used to be easily in my top5 of the year. Not this…) 5. The National - "Trouble Will Find Me" (Great, but also so samey, boring and flat? Their NGHFB moment!!!) 6. Franz Ferdinand - “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action” (they could have it so much better with …!/the live sections of the tracks sound miles better than the studio vesion. Right thoughts, right words, Wrong action). 7. Beady Eye – “BE” (How dare to put your best tracks in the deluxe version? How dare to destroy half of your 3rd album as bonus tracks? Different tracklist could put the album to a totally different level in every form). 8. Miles Kane - "Don't Forget Who You Are" (Please don't Forget who you are…). 9. Babyshambles - "Sequel to the Prequel" (Not as good as it could, wrong drugs maybe?). 10. Vampire Weekend - "Modern Vampires of the City" (Actually its an excellent album but I really cant stand their style).
Note :I m not into rap, rnb (some EXCELLENT releases) or …pornpop …
