2013 has been a fantastic year for new music. Finally. Here are the bands from the Class of 2013 that found their way to my iTunes. Billy Clyro - Opposites Arcade Fire - Reflektor Yuck - Glow & Behold (Haven't give it a full listen yet) Glasvegas - Later... When the TV Turns To Static (Haven't given it a full listen yet) Los Campesinos - No Blues The 1975 - The 1975 Swim Deep - Where The Heaven Are We Missing Andy - Guerrilla Invasion Part 1 & 2 (Double Disc) Frank Turner - Tape Deck Heart Frightened Rabbit - Pedestrian Verses Rizzle Kicks - Roaring 20s Arctic Monkeys - AM Beady Eye - BE Can't pick my favorite from that last. I would like to highlight: (Biffy Clyro, Los Campesinos, The 1975, Missing Andy, & Frank Turner)
You cannot go wrong with that list. Not bad for being away for half the year, either. May 2014 be just as goodWith a Noel Gallagher album due in autumn, 2014 should kick ass.

Swim Deep - Where The Heaven Are We You cannot go wrong with that list. that one was really bad. The only thing approaching greatness was she changes the weather. a few questionable names but i cant argue with things i haven't heard

Tough to choose. In no particular order I'd say..
1. Arctic Monkeys - AM 2. Kanye West - Yeezus 3. Filthy Boy - Smile That Won't Go Down 4. Franz Ferdinand - Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action 5. Palma Violets - 180 6. Everything Everything - Arc 7. Miles Kane - Don't Forget Who You Are 8. James Blake - Overgrown 9. Arcade Fire - Reflektor 10. Chvrches - The Bones Of What You Believe
Ask me again in a couple of days though and it might be totally different.

Steve Mason - 'Monkey Minds In The Devil's Time' for me. His collab with Emiliana Torrini on Speedy Wunderground is just about my favourite song of the year too.

This may warrant its own thread, but I thought I'd discuss some of the major hyped albums of the year, that I didn't really find impressive like all years there has been massive hype around a lot of bands or albums. I'm just gonna rant on a few.
Vampire Weekend-first album is great, but they're pretty standard within the realm of "indie pop". Their new albums is better than their second, but they're not a great band... at all. They never cease to make some of the most annoying songs of the year. Ya Hey along with their song Cousins, are both really really annoying songs. I hate how this quirky shit is associated with and deemed as the best "indie" music.
HAIM- WAY too much hype. their songs are sleek and polished, but also awkward and they really aren't memorable in any way. 3 sisters in a band whoopi...
Chance the Rapper- do we really need a slightly better Childish Gambino? nah.
CHVRCHES- The Mother We Share is a great pop song, but the rest was pretty blah.

Lennon2217 yeah! I just don't like this tune too much. But it's pretty good, I have to admit. One thing is to doesn't like an album. Other thing is doesn't admit that is a good album, although you don't like it.

thats really a though one.... if you think what was released this year.
AM - Arctic Monkeys BE - Beady Eye spectre at the feast - Black rebel motorcycle club push the sky away - Nick cave and the bad seeds like clockwork - Queens of the stone age 13 - Black Sabbath Peace - Vista Chino Lowlands - The Flying Eyes Indigo Meadow - The Black Angels sequel to prequel - Babyshambles New- Paul McCartney Les Revenantes - Mogwai MBV - My bloody Valentine .... etc. etc.
I would go for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away, Les Revenantes - Mogwai and Beady Eye - BE. Altough every single one of these is great in some moment. This was really one of the strongest music release years in the last decade I think.

Oh and too add to my previous post.
Why on earth do people like Lorde? Royals isn't impressive to me at all. Gave the album a shot cause it received some credit but, give me some sugary catchy Taylor Swift/Katy Perry over some 16 year old (kinda looks like a 40 year old stuck in the 90s though) trying to be "artistic". She could be decent in a couple years but I'll agree with allmusic and their comparison to Lana Del Ray, "Pure Heroine seems to hint at the truth...but the truth is, Lorde is a pop invention as much as LDR and is not nearly as honest about her intentions."
Also finally gave the Disclosure album a listen. It's pretty great. if you wanna talk about some young kids who are talented, they are the ones.
And I don't know if I mentioned this in my pervious posts but Thundercat's album is bumpin'. "Oh Sheit It's X", "Lotus And The Jondy", "Heartbreaks + Setbacks" are really great songs.

At least nobody here is falling head over heels for Lorde/LDR/Vampire Weekend/CHVRCHES so we have that going for us.
On the other hand we have WirralRiddler...
(for the record I do like a few songs by both vampire weekend and chvrches and will probably like their singles and be a little dissapointed by their albums for all of the forseeable future)

Released very late into the year but this is one of the best tunes I've heard. A great and extremely underrated band from Philadelphia. Kurt Vile use to play guitar for them.
