The Hindu Times The demo is good, but the studio version came out awfully sloppy, yet some people regard the sloppy version highly. I don't get it, so therefore, chalk that up as overrated. I remember when it first came out people were saying it was the best Oasis single since Don't Look Back in Anger or some shit like that.

The single itself is just awesome, but the B-sides are pretty solid. Thank You for the Good Times may not be the best song, and is a bit of a SMS rehash, but it does the job. Shout it Out Loud, on the other hand, is quite an awesome song that's like a Little by Little II, but with more of a kickass solo to go with it.

Talk Tonight is dull as fuck. Never been a massive fan of The Masterplan either.

Supersonic - dont get me wrong its a great song but not in my top 5/6 for DM. Dont look back in anger - great song but again not all its made out to be. Talk tonight - never really liked the 'strawberry lemonade' lyric, and it bores me a little. Thankyou for the good times - never got into this one for some reason TMOS - not even highly regarded on here and in my eyes it still gets too much recognition. On the rank the tracks thread people were putting in the top half of the album, i mean the meaning of soul? GGTIA - boring
None of these are particularly bad (bar last two) but they probably are praised a little too much, when songs such as Cloudburst, Step Out and The fame go with little acknowledgement as some of oasis finest work.

TMOS is the worst song on DBTT in my eyes.
I wouldn't consider Step Out as one of their finest work. The melody is good, but it's a rip off and the lyrics aren't that great either.

Yeah I really don't get Step Out either mainly for the reasons you've given, Noel was famous for 'borrowing' but he took it too far with Step Out and it's not even that great, Cannot believe it was going to be on MG

Easily better than Hey Now for a start, thats without mentioning the pointless swamp song bits, but then again there are other b-sides that should have made it before Step Out, but its still a good tune though. You also said Slide Away was overrated, which means that basically, you know nish. IMO

Slide Away - It's really is great but it's not the clear stand out moment many seem to make it out to be. The Masterplan - Again, a great song whose use as a b-side is mind blowing, but not a top 20 track for me. Stand By Me Stay Young Roll It Over Lets All Make Believe Songbird - Easily one of Liam's best songs and most certainly an album worthy track, however it's miles away from an Oasis best of compilation. Turn Up The Sun [Alone On The Rope]

Slide Away - It's really is great but it's not the clear stand out moment many seem to make it out to be. Maybe you're wrong? It always seems to get voted towards the top of any "greatest Oasis tracks" list, despite just being an album track which was never really promoted in any way at all, unlike Live Forever, Wonderwall etc etc It is in no way "overrated", it just really is that good.

I thought this thread was to discuss the tracks that you think are overrated, not what the you think the general public overrates? Because I think we could all agree on 'Wonderwall' winning that one. I personally think it is rated higher than it warrants. I think it's lyrical content and 'beauty' (because it's undoubtedly a beautiful song) distorts others opinions on how great it really is. It is great, just not, 'undoubtedly the best Noel Gallagher song ever great'. I rate it highly, I think it has some top, top guitar fills, however I think songs like 'Rock 'N' Roll Star', 'Some Might Say' and 'Morning Glory' are, for me, even better.

The Importance of Being Idle Lyla Noel's contributions to DBTT are pretty overrated in general IMO... except for Mucky Fingers, which is underrated

'Slide Away's chorus doesn't deliver enough in the melody department for me to consider it. [OVERRATED]

I'm gonna sound like a complete knob when I say this.
Rock N Roll Star - There aren't many opening tracks on a debut album that are as good as RNRS. It is the perfect opening song to DM and to Oasis in general, but its not in my top 5 songs from DM. So I'd say its probably a little overrated. Again don't get me wrong its an outstanding track one of the band's best, but its not up there with the best of the best (Some Might Say, Slide Away, Don't Look Back In Anger, etc).

You FAIL at being an Oasis fan. Last chance.'Shout It Out Loud' and '(You've Got) The Heart Of The Star' are nothing more than average and everyone knows the ultimate Oasis song for getting pumped up too is either 'Fuckin' In The Bushes' or 'Morning Glory'.

The best Oasis tune to get pumped up to is unequivocally Bring It On Down.

Stay Young - I think Liam's voice lets this one down surprisingly as I think his voice was at its best in this era. I've never warmed to it compared to other BHN songs.
Mucky Fingers - Boring, one of the weakest Noel sung songs. I'd rather listen to TIOBI and POTQ any day over it.
Thank You For The Good Time - I don't know what it is but I just don't like this song. Probably the worst of the HC b sides.
Step Out - I like the chorus but I agree that it is a blatant rip off with poor lyrics. Glad it was pulled from Morning Glory.
