Couldn't find a thread on this. For me it was during my GCSE's at school around april/may 05. My mum and dad split up and he was moving out and I looked inside his Cd box and on the top was Oasis - Be Here Now. Id heard of oasis before, but all I knew was Wonderwall and Roll with It (Didn't know it was called this at the time). I knew all the words to RWI as it was always on the radio when we went for day out as a kid. So any way I took the Cd out and played it to try and find RWI. Obviously I couldn't but I loved the album anyway. I asked my dad about them and he gave me Don't Believe The Truth as it just got released. I thought it was great. So it started from there all I listened to for months was Oasis, I seeked out all the B - Sides, everything. Ill never forget when I first heard Slide Away ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Once,it was the last year I was coming back to home after school and I heard Stand by me at the radio,it blew me away, when I arrived at home the first thing I did was write on youtube "stand by me",I found the song and discovered it was by Oasis,I was fascinated by the fact that it was a song by 1997,that was it Then I saw Wonderwall at the Olympics,my father told me something about Liam, not good words tbh ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/A9bL_RjIN9bOhnrQxKjN.gif) but my curiosity grew up,I was on holiday so I couldn't listen to anything but when I came back I heard Wonderwall again,SCHYO and Supersonic, loved them, but it wasn't really the moment when I became mad fer it,it was a day of October,i was bored so I decided to listen to this song called Don't look back in anger and everything started,I'll never forget the first time I heard that chorus,it was an amazing feeling, after that my whole perception of music changed ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I got into them about 3 years ago, if I'm not mistaken. My sister was in the living room watching our version of Idol and there was some dude singing Wonderwall, and it wasn't that bad. So I asked my sister: "What's that song called?" as I've never heard it before ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/7QKGdm487eYnX65W8w0g.gif) . She told me it was Wonderwall, I went straight to my computer and looked it up on YouTube. It instantly blew me away so I went to iTunes and bought Time Flies, but for about a week I was so blown by Wonderwall that I didn't even get to listen to the rest of it ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/7QKGdm487eYnX65W8w0g.gif) After that week, I finally put Time Flies on my playlist and hit play. I remember that Don't Look Back In Anger didn't really make a big impression on me at first which is a bit ironic considering that it is now one of my all-time favorites. Supersonic and Live Forever were the ones that really got my attention and that's when I thought ''Wow, this is probably a really cool band!''. And the rest is history ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/7QKGdm487eYnX65W8w0g.gif)

It's amazing how many young pups are on here really!
My 1st experience of Oasis was early 1995 when doing my work experience, My sister had a mix tape and her fella was into Indie, on that tape I first heard the Stone Roses and Live Forever was on there, I didn't know the Band but I used to play that song on my tape walkman at 14 years old walking to the place where I was doing my work experience "did you ever feel the pain, in the morning rain, as it soaks you to the bone" that line instantly stuck with me because I was 14, walking to a job which I hated doing and in the rain haha.
After that I remember my dad buying what's the story morning glory later on in the year, and I used to listen to it and read along with the words, and from then on I was hooked on Oasis.

On a side note, I liked the Stone Roses sound but Oasis smacked me like a freight train between the ears!

On a side note, I liked the Stone Roses sound but Oasis smacked me like a freight train between the ears! The Stone Roses were the second band I got really into. I saw Ian Brown's KWYG video and thought who's that trying to be Liam. Waited till the end of the video and it said Ian Brown. Asked my dad about him and he put me onto the Stone Roses.

I heard Oasis in '94, but didnt latch onto them proper until I heard Whatever - that made me sit up and take notice.
(Hardcore was a big thing when we were at school, so Oasis got me out of that phase)
Wish I could say I then went out & bought the albums, but this was when you just coppied your mates cassette lol
DLBIA was the first release I bought on the 'day of release', because by this time I just couldnt wait.

Before seeing Oasis' "Live Forever" on MTV America in the fall of 1994, I waa heading towards a grunge life of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I cherish them both. The early to mid 90s were awesome times. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

You could get into the BRIT scene whether you were in London, Manchester or USA but still have the grunge heyday ...great days to love music indeed man

Seeing Roll With It on the telly i think, then the following explosion following the release of Wonderwall and DLBIA. Then i bought Be Here Now on the day of its release but i was already hooked by then. Just wish i would have got into them during the DM era, it wasn't until after id been into them a while that i even realised the DM era even exsisted, at the time i thought WTSMG was their debut, it was the first id heard of them. In my defence i was only a kid.

My older brothers are both music nuts, and they always used to play Oasis records in the house, so I've heard Oasis playing in the background my whole life really! I first really got into them a couple of years ago, when my brother moved out and gave me his albums, I played the Morning Glory album so much it scratched it and I had to get another copy!

Well 2 years ago when I first started with college I met this guy who is now my best friend who introduced me to Oasis. He gave me Dig Out Your Soul and I absolutely hated it at the time. But then I heard some bootlegs of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and I heard Don't Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall and I was sold. That's actually the time I signed up on the forum.
Got Noel's album and I was totally obsessed with it for weeks, then I heard Morning Glory and it was a great experience. Heathen Chemistry was another album that I really loved and still do. Little By Little really cemented my obsession with Oasis at the time. I actually really liked Different Gear also at the time.
After that I heard Be Here Now and Dig Out Your Soul both of which blew my mind and became #2 and #3 on my favourite albums list. Then I heard Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, The Masterplan, Don't Believe The Truth and Definitely Maybe. Discovering the B-sides was also another pleasant surprise. Let's All Make Believe is actually now my favourite song. So yeah, it's been a great experience getting into Oasis.

Yeah, definitely! I read something once, it might have been Stuart Maconie, when he said that "the best music in the world is second hand", basically meaning that the music that survives the generations, gets passed down from parent to kid, older sibling to younger sibling, that's the stuff that matters.

No rock anywhere , was in a mall with my mom I hit the music store asked her to buy me 2 45 s " gotta get you into my life " and" Cecilia " After that all I listened to was rock ....still love frank dean and tony from time to time though .

Our kid played them all the time and eventually I gave them a try. Was just too young for Morning Glory but was a fully signed up fan by the time Be Here Now came out. First single I ever bought was D'you Know What I Mean? and I still remember the excitement and build up to Be Here Now. Loved getting up at four in the morning with my brother and going to HMV to get in line to get it. What a great time that was! First ever gig Cardiff 1997 near enough front row what a stunning show ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) from this I discovered The Beatles and God knows how many other great bands! Pretty much my whole musical outlook and experience can be traced back to the summer of 1996 and discovering The Masterplan/Wonderwall/Underneath The Sky ect... And now I feel old ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Damn dude ... You should be a writer ,, well said , great read , I was gone then so I just read it , well done Thanks for the kind words... I should add to it, b/c that was written years ago and I have had some more experiences with the off-shoots of the band since then. Mostly, my wife was able to join me for her first rock show ever when Noel came to Dallas. Life without the music would be very empty.

Was obsessed with the show L O S T in mid 2000s.
There's a fictional band there called Driveshaft that's based on Oasis, that's how I started getting into them, no joke.
