It's a great album, really works in flow and tracklisting, some wonderful performances and above all some great songs. sounds Beatle-y but modern at the same time. Makes HFB sound very conservative and safe to my ears.

Flick of the Finger: best song on the album. by a fucking light year. 9/10Soul Love: reminds me of scott walker's the old man's back again. definitely one of the better songs on the album. could have been a minute shorter. 8/10Face the Crowd: could have been on the first album. which isn't a good thing. sounds like your typical gem archer stinker. i dig that bridge in the last part though, hence 5/10. Second Bite of the Apple: not a fan at all. production saves it, but liam's voice is meh as well as the melody. worst possible choice for a first single. 6/10Soon Come Tomorrow: the guitar in the beginning sounds like neil young. nothing special, still better than most of dgss. the chorus reminds me of roxette (exactly, roxette!). 6,5/10Iz Rite: the obscure oasis song! production wise, it reminds me of the be here now era. could have been a decent b-side around that time. 7/10I'm Just Saying: the average half cousin of eyeball tickler. 6/10Don't Brother Me: your liam song by numbers. would have been a digital download-only b-site during the oasis days. 4 minutes too long. 5/10Shine A Light: filler. one minute too long. 5,5/10Ballroom Figured: an acoustic with liam singing. unfortunatley, it misses a melody that would carry such a combo. again a song that would have been a digital download-only b-site during the oasis days. 5,5/10Start Anew: the beginning reminds me of freedom song. one of the better songs, cos it comes with a melody you actually remember afterwards. 7/10unfortunately, i can't see any progress. most of the songs are just forgettable. basically the same as dgss.

Have just listened to the bonus tracks... Why oh why are the not on the album!?! Off at the next exit and Back after the break are beautifully sung and are great tracks.
Its such a shame as they would have massively improved the album and given it a slightly different direction too...

I listened to this album all night long and 8 is a perfect "score".
DGSS is max 5/10, boring, pathetic album, but BE is a loooot better, more depth and style. Big progress.

Am I the only one who really enjoys Face The Crowd? Love the chorus, it's so catchy. It's going to be an absolute monster live.

Flick of the Finger: best rocker on the album 7,5/10 Soul Love: i like the dark atmosphere but it does nothing to me 5/10 Face the Crowd: a better 'four letter word' 7/10 Second Bite of the Apple: nice car track. i really liked it at the beginning but it got boring fast 6/10 Soon Come Tomorrow: best beady eye song for me. great solo! 8,5/10 Iz Rite: nice summer tune but it's been done before (probably all in my mind or the good rebel) 4,5/10 I'm Just Saying: would had been a great BHN b-side 7/10 Don't Brother Me: nice production. outro is just way too long 6/10 Shine A Light: i do like it but i wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there 6/10 Ballroom Figured: so forgettable.. 3/10 Start Anew: as i expected, gets boring fast. it has a nice ending but it's just one of a million 6/10 all in all i'm fine with the album. it's better than DGSS and that's all i was hoping for.

Hell no man, I love that song, for me it's the verses though. the long notes are Liam doing what he does best. He's put in some really nice vocals on tracks on this album and the bonus tracks but he's born to sing rock and roll like this and he sounds great. Love the handclaps and Jeff's bass as well

I absolutely love it! and I'm not really a fan of when they've gone in that direction before. SOTEOTN is practically unlistenable and i'm not a huge fan a FLW either really. i do like it but id say there are 7 or 8 songs on DGSS i prefer so i'm quite surprised how much i like FTC. It is similar to FLW but better in every way imo. The riff is amazing- pulsating, just relentless. Like Led Zeppelin... on acid! The handclaps, the breakdown in the middle, the outro. It's great.

Also, I think Beady Eye should steer away from trying to make the typical big singles. I just don't think they're a big singles type of band, and a band shouldn't have to do something they're not particular comfortable or good with. It's unfair to them and creates moments for fans to be overly critical of them. I think in the long run they may be better off trying to just make stronger albums. For me this album is solid, but not great. I think their worst moments are when they're forcing rockers and big ballads on here. I think if they curtail the outros a bit and switch out the forced songs with songs that will make the album stronger, they'll be better off. I believe Beady Eye's survival will hinge on them just making very good albums, forget templates and trying to put rockers on when they don't fit or "stadium" type songs that they're not good at writing anyways, and let the singles fall where they may. So write better songs that are more in their comfort zones (the songs on BE are particular strong as a whole)and then push their limits. With better songs, the farther they'll be able to push their sound. They won't chart high with singles, but they'll have more interesting albums that will continue to sell as slow burners, age better, and pick-up new fans. Hopefully we get a third album and the collections of songs are much stronger than here with basically the same treatment. I'd agree with this if you were talking about Different Gear, but I think that's precisely one of the steps forward in BE. There are no songs like Keep the Dream Alive or The Beat Goes On here, which I quite like but I won't deny are ballads attempting to be big anthems and falling short. The first thing we heard from the album was Flick of the Finger, which is not trying to be something else, it lacks a chorus (which got it plenty of stick in the beginning) and grooves its way into your ears, without trying to be the typical Oasis first single (I know it wasn't a single but it was the first promotional track). Regarding the rockers, I don't think they're forcing anything there, the rockers in BE are in the same vein as every rocking song they've released ever since the Oasis days, so it's the type of rocking songs they can and like to write. I know probably a few slower songs from the bonus tracks might be better quality (I'm waiting to listen to a proper rip, but the celebrated Off At The Next Exit seems very, very good) but I don't think they'd like to go that much into ballad territory and forget about the rockers, so I think they include those songs not because they want to have hit singles, but because this is the music they like to make and they like to have rocky songs to balance the album a bit.

It just keeps getting better. I can't stop listening.
I made myself like DGSS, I didn't want to let it dissapointment me. This isn't the case with BE.
Sadly, it still won't sell well because the media and masses have painted BDI as average and won't give them a chance.
But my god, this album is good. Wished it flowed better, but other than that it's nice to listen to. Always hear something new, it's so layered and the production is flawless.
It's better than DGSS. It's better than HC (bar the singles). And it's better than DOYS (as an album).
Well done, BDI.

I believe SBOTA is a try at stadium rock with Sitek treatment. Secondly, when I said forced rockers, I meant the rockers they've been writing since the Oasis days. Which is the problem for me. I believe they include rockers to fit the template they're used to, not necessarily as hits. I would put SBOTA as them trying for a hit. I probably should have worded that better. Their best rockers have been when they've pushed their sound. Nothing on DGSS sounds like FLW and FOTF definitely has a different edge. However, most of the rockers on BE aren't too different than the poor rockers on DGSS in my opinion. I think they should break away from the template of trying to have a certain amount of rockers. If a good one like FOTF or FLW comes around, then okay. But I don't see the point in putting on tracks like Face The Crowd or Beatles & Stones, in place of better songs. It's near the same criticism leveled at Noel when he was trying to fit sounds of albums instead of putting on the best songs. They'll be better off without "single" type writing, like SOBTA. Or trying to put a certain amount of rockers. Put on the best songs, put out the best album.

Nice sounding record, it'll sound even better when the CD/vinyl comes out. Liams vocals for me are probably the best they've sounded in studio since his vocal on Lyla.
Was expecting it to be a bit heavier and for the mood to be darker but I'm happy with what we've got, couple of nice Oasis sounding tunes and no retro obsession. In fact the only real track I don't like on here is Face The Crowd but I'm expecting that to change after hearing a live version, every track sounds really nice within the context of an album. It gets a 7 from me.

I've had it on constantly for the past two days. The album demands me to listen to every track in order and I haven't felt inclined to skip a single tune yet. 8/10 - best cohesive collection of tracks I've heard from anyone in years.

Just starting my 6th full listen now. As things stand I voted 6/10. It's alright, definitely better than DGSS but personally as much as I try I can only find 3 absolute nailed on tunes.
The Good The first 2 tracks. FOTF has really won me over. Initially I thought it was a decent enough intro to the album but having it on full blast in my car today. Wow. Soul Love is even better....when I was reading through this forum last night it wasn't getting nearly as much love as it deserved. Fucking tune and really brilliant vocal from Liam.
Start Anew is also truly touching. Liam seems really comfortable at writing these type of tracks but I reckon this is the best of his ballads, although I think we have to attribute as much as that to Sitek as we do LAG. To me the song sounds like how The Beatles may have sounded in 2013, rather than Beady Eye trying to rewind time and sound like we are in the 60's.
The Decent Soon Come Tomorrow (solo completely changes the song imo, however I do like The Verve type vibe to it), Iz Rite, Second Bite (actually ok in the context of the album), Ballroom Figured, Don't Brother Me (the most unnecessary 7.30 song of all time?)
The Bad I'm Just Saying (sounds like a 90's Oasis D-Side & that 1,2,3......7,8,9 lyric FFS LOL), Shine a Light (decent musically, the chorus is shite though)
The Standing on the edge of the Noise Face the Crowd
