Alex is a genius,he's a great lyricist,I don't think he'll never reach Noel's peaks (actually nobody will do that for me),cos is really difficult to write songs like Live forever or DLBIA,but he's surely the best songwriter of his generation I think he's up there with Noel in terms of been a top quality British songwriter. You can argue all day when you are in a group like Marr/Morrissey, Paul Weller, Strummer/Jones, Jagger/Richards, Brown/Squire, Cocker, Albarn, Davies, Townsend,Gallagher. I'd put Turner up there. He's got that touch.

It is a great EP sadly overlooked by many at the time. It was released a month or two before Suck it and See and was probably a little overshadowed by that. But it's a wonderful batch of song's.

They invented it. Noel's song writing period with DM and WTSMG is Top 3 in British Music History Along with Lennon/McCartney and Jagger/Richards 65/73 (That's my personal favourite). I still think Live Forever is the greatest Song ever.

I think his new solo album was his best since that period (real top quality album). In between then I'm not as big a fan of his work just feel it lacked the passion (Importance of been Idle is a excellent tune and a few others stand out). I rate Noel highly and glad he got out of Oasis. It's done him the world of good. Alex probably lacks the big Stadium rock songs but I don't think that hinders him plenty of them for those songs.

Alex is the best and most consistent songwriter of hos generation in my opinion. When AM comes out, that'll be 5 Arctic Monkeys albums in 8 years, while he's also done The Last Shadow Puppets and Submarine. It's hard to find anyone at the moment who's matched the amount of stuff he's released yet kept releasing brilliant albums.

It's only getting the love now, wonderful set of tunes and it got to Number 1 as well. He's very much a top quality song writer.

I'm not quite sure whose overall output is larger between EPs/collaborations/singles + bonus tracks, although to be fair I don't think AM have existed as long.

Love that album, saw the video for the first single on mtv2 late one night so bought the album and to this day I still listen to it. Just can't get into the Monkeys at all. They do nothing for me.

Music needs more of that at the moment.

Thats without mentioning he basically wrote half of Miles Kanes debut album too, and all the great b-sides the Monkeys have and even the early demos and unreleased tracks are all pretty good too. He's a genius plan and simple. Still wouldn't like to see him go his own way though, i like the set up he has with the Monkeys and he should carry on with that for as long as possible. He can do the odd bit on the side but his main focus should be with the Monkeys for me. Not a big fan of The Last Shadow Puppets tbh, defo my least favourite Turner related album/LP.

I love The National to death but they're pretty far from prolific. 6 albums since 2001. Alex's output is much more frequent.

It shows the difference between that first Kane and second Kane album, that first solo album has tunes. I could see Turner solo been like Paul Weller's. You not a fan of TLSP album even people who ain't fans of the AM love that album. It's a required taste seen as I was a fan of Scott Walker and Serge Gainsbourg already I got the influences of the album straight away. That gig they did for Electric Proms was wonderful and their cover I want You but The Beatles is wonderful.

His accent is a tad upsetting It's still there, he's just been living stateside for a while now. And his "stage voice" is a strange marble-mouthed thing that I still don't quite get.

He tries to hard to be talkative frontman when really he's a shy genius. I can understand why many were put off by it but that shouldn't take away from their performance cause they were great.

Because Serge is basically Liam's twin isn't he. Why are you an Oasis forum slagging Oasis off? We get it, you love Arctic Monkeys, so do I. I have to be on an Oasis forum talk up everything they like it was brilliance. They made some shit music too. They ain't perfect. But Tom is Liam's fucking Twin, silly boy. Yeah, I mean they both prance around the stage in feathered jackets and skin tight jeans. Now then Mardy Bum, lighten yourself up a bit.
