Was gonna post it in the 'what you listening to now' thread, but thought may as well put it in here instead. What an utterly shite song.

This might be their chance to make their masterpiece, both R U Mine and Do I Wanna Know? are brilliant. The thing I hate about R U Mine is that the chorus sounds like the alphabet song: "LMNOP", fucking irritating, that. All I hear in my head during the chorus is "LMNOP", can't stand it. Did I just ruin the song for you lot? Also, I reiterate, Do I Wanna Know is exactly the same song, just with a slower tempo.

About both things. No offense haha

I mean, it's absurd to devote any time to refute this, but the "ABC" song is in a major key and R U Mine? is in a minor key. LMNOP has five syllables, R U Mine? has six. The notes are completely different. Other than the fact that R U Mine? has two letters in it (which aren't even adjacent in the alphabet) there are absolutely no similarities. I have no idea where you pulled that from.
EDIT: There actually are similarities between R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know? but you lose credibility when you say they're exactly the same song. Some of the notes in the riff are the same (although they're in a different key). And there's the superficial things like the falsetto backing vocals. But again, saying they are "exactly the same song" is like saying Supersonic and Listen Up are the same song.

I like his stage act. In fact I think its amazing how he has developed into this stage dominating, proper rock and roll star. He used to be so nervous and poor at communicating. That intro with the new tune had the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

I'm watching their full performance from Glastonbury. [They need to drop Brick from the setlist though. Horrible song] I never cared for that song either until Glastonbury, I thought it was best moment of the whole gig.

I saw the Monkeys last monday night at the Antic Theatre of Vienne (where I saw Oasis in june, 2009).
I was a little bit desappointed. Not a great show. The band was not "motivated", the songs were played but without emotions, and I think they are "slow" you know... If I compare with my Oasis memories at the same place, I am really disappointed.
I don't know if I'll go to see them another time...

can we all at least agree that britishlove's comment about the singer looking like a teenager was priceless? God bless.

Yes, in general, and it was more true when they played wtih a "garage style".
Now they're more a blues-rock band I think, a mix between the Arctic Monkeys from theirs debuts, and The Black Keys. Monday, everybody though that I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor was really too slow...

Funnily enough, they were really fantastic when I saw them supporting the Black Keys (who were dull as dirt). I guess they had something to prove on that tour.

Yes, I don't remember what Alex Turner exactly said, but they are really Black Sabbath fans!

I saw them in a small club two yrs ago, about 1k people, and they tore the roof off. One of the best shows ive been to. SOmetimes with a band it depends on the night you see them.

Just heard their new track Why'd You only Call me When You're High? It's another change of pace very much influenced by R'N'B and Gorillaz. Some Aussie Site ripped it and put it up on their site. Check out Arctic Monkey's Tumblr to have a listen. I Love it.

Read this week NME's article about the Monkeys new album. Turner said it sounds like a Dr Dre beat, some 70s rock n roll in there too. I prefer their last two LPs, reckon this one's a belter.
