You know GIMH it's funny I never thought about that. But to show you how it all depends on who you know I have many many uk friends from staying in UK so much and still keep in touch in some cases daily ...and it's just the opposite. I have no horse in the race ( pardon the pun but its Kentucky derby day ) but I am not a "team member" and I love both but my American friends love the wild Liam in general and my uk friends gun to head prefer Noel , just had to think of that and actually just messaged two mates both love Noel think Liam goes over the top I believe you typed noth America fans like Liam LESS well in my random sample and its more than a few , I find it opposite , go figure , I guess it proves its probably no matter where you live Liam is polarizing , I love him always will ditto for Noel , think any hate for either is either people getting off on getting rises out of some who let it , or people who like to stir the pot , either way I can't be bothered . Well, I am North American, Floridian to be exact and I prefer Liam over Noel. Perhaps it is a trend. thats nice I'm in Florida prefer both ...my best frien in NYC prefers Noel .... Take your pic any works for me

Would completely disagree. In the lead up to breakup there was definitely some polarization toward Liam. I remember the day after they broke up many people on this forum resigned themselves that Liam was to "blame". Secondly, last time I checked don't Noel and Gem still hang out and didn't they hang out before the split? So I guess Gem likes to be around pain in the asses? Posts like these where one brother gets demonized is pretty much why this forum is the way it is. And if tomlivesforever meant that as "flack" then yea, this post deserved some. Because take out the spots where Noel's name is and put in Liam's and this post isn't much different from what people have talked about in this thread toward polarizing. I get the first point about the press conference and people are right when saying some of that event was petty by Noel. However, the last part of the above post is fairly hypocritical if one is to complain about polarizing. Because in the end polarizing is taking an extreme position and the last part of that post is an extreme position and a sweeping generalization. As has been happening to Liam on this forum. No no spaneli I meant 'flak'. Was good to see Andy say about Noel's comments in Q. The more time that passes the more snide that press conference seems to me. I actually meant "flak" too There are only a few parts of his press conference I find to be petty. The rest is understandable. To lead up to that press conference Liam and co didn't do themselves any favors. They were anything but graceful and Noel stayed silent through DGSS while Liam co made some pretty scathing quotes about him in anyway interview they could find. So within the context of when it happened, there are only a couple comments he made that irk me.

Take your pic any works for me A lot of my friends are musicians and songwriters (I like in Chicago) and I think all them prefer Noel and barely know who Liam is. So for a long time I've tended to think that if you're songwriter/musician that might also play into who you lean toward.

Noel was ok, but when he went solo and started to make his stupid statements, the first one on the day of the split and then the press conference were on top of it, i just cant stand him anymore. As a person. As a songwriter, i still love him and well, after the year i admit, HFB had better songs than DGSS. It didnt have passion though, Liam has the passion and thats maybe why i love him.

I think both Noel and Liam would find this over analysation of their lives quite amusing, I'm sure I would if it were me.

I don't really think there's that much "hate" around here. I just think the average opinion is that the single is kinda shite. In comparison, I'm under the impression that most people like the b-side. If people really "hated" "everything Liam does", then they'd be ripping into the b-side which basically is a clip of an album track played in reverse.
Long story short: I think people are too quick to call the "people hate Liam" card.

In my corner of the world, everyone thinks Liam is a bumbling, buffoon. They think Noel is the quiet one with the writing talent. People in the states are seriously misinformed about the band and the brothers specifically. They really have zero cultural relevance now days. Only diehard fans engage in such 'he said, she said' bullshit anyhow.

I just think the average opinion is that the single is kinda shite. The poll actually tell a different story. 60% percent voted average* or below average. *(I'm assuming "good" is the same as average, but in a more optimistic tone (is the glass half full or half empty?))

Long story short: I think people are too quick to call the "people hate Liam" card. This. Not every one who criticize Beady Eye or Liam hates either of them. Yet every time it's one of these two lines, "What did you guys expect?" or "Why all the hate?" I guaranteed you if everyone was fawning over Beady Eye there wouldn't be a single thread of a fan asking, "Why all the love?" But whenever something comes out that split opinions or "fall short" of "expectations" or someone questions lyrics or production (two things that are clearly part of a song) then it's "you're over anazlying" Guarantee if Beady Eye's songwriting was as good as the production used for it or if their lyrics were stronger there wouldn't be threads complaining about looking too closely at lyrics or giving the production so much credit. No, I don't think there would be any threads by fans complaining about those threads. The "people hate Liam" card gets pulled far too often for moments when it doesn't even apply.

I don't think the majority thought it was shit. But I did get the sense that the majority of people thought it "fell short" of their "expectations".

Yeah I created the poll, and since this is a fan forum (or so I thought ) I made more distinctions between the levels of "good" than the levels of crap. With "good!" I definitely meant above average. Likable, but just not great. "Okayish" was for people who were rather underwhelmed. "Okayish" was meant to be "average". I don't think that people who honestly don't really like liked the song would vote "good!" If we look at the results with that in mind, we see that 63.5% voted "above average". Almost 40% thinks it's really good/fantastic, and a little more than 35% thinks it's poor/crap... Indeed, not a fantastic reception for a fan forum, but far from being disastrous....

That's all what they think, not fact. Don't let yourself mislead by anyone else's opinion cos in the end of the day, you're the one who spend your own money to buy their record and to pay for your ticket. Time will tell and even if everybody in the world will disagree with you, so what? If you love them, love them and trust your own soul.

Well written post I know that what they all say is just a matter of opinion and as an attempt to annoy and "troll" others and so I wrote that to represent the average post I've seen in the last few days saying that the new single is crap and the album will be crap and so on. Don't worry mimmi, the opinions of a few lonely souls on the internet won't sway or shape my opinions at all...

Not as out there as Liam would have us believe, but the songs just seem to flow of each other. It's pretty hard to give an opinion after one listen, you try to remember loads and i end up remembering very little... But i was pretty impressed...loads of little subtleties going on, good songs, great vibe and an amazing Liam i'
