nnyrad - it's time you go out and smell the air. Is that how I get repaid for making your life 2% better? This is an absolute classic line: I’m Just SayingAndy: “Anyone longing for a bit of Morning Glory-era Oasis, this is for them.” = Anyone longing for a bit of Heathen Chemistry-era Oasis, this is for them.

At least their getting some love from lillywhite Of course would be remiss if there was no mention that the said decent song is also one of those Oasis' castaways as well? Ohh Lillywhite...YOU ARE A GREAT PRODUCER, Lillywhite. I repeat: YOU ARE A GREAT PRODUCER!! (Somebody should go the Twittering and mention that first bit^^ to him, and see how The Great Producer of the Rock 'n' Roll responds. The suspense....)

Steve Lillywhite is a very good producer, conventional yes, but if the songs aren't there then it's going to be shit. You can't polish a turd the size of Different Gear in my opinion. And going on the merits of the previous Oasis albums and their Beatles obsessions, it was Gem, Liam and Andy who decided to make it a piss poor Beatles rip off album. That said, Four Letter Word is good and The Morning Son is very good.

I agree Lillywhite should definitely have not tweeted that. Beady Eye have quite a few good songs. But nevertheless he's effectively guaranteed that he won't be producing any more of their albums.

Lillywhite left them in the lurk by letting Gem do the mixing, Liam said in a few interviews that he didn't think he would work with him again.
However i kind of remember people on this forum raving about the production on DGSS. How things have changed.

It might be because they passed him over for Sitek.

It might not be great but its at least better than the production on the High Flying Birds album.

FIGHT!!!!
@lukehewitt1985 1h @sillywhite @beady_Eye Liam said you 'bailed' and 'weren't right'- what actually happened? do you think 'Different Gear...' is a bad record?
@sillywhite 1h @lukehewitt1985 i am not sure i can say it all in 140 characters !!
@lukehewitt1985 54m @sillywhite could you blog about it maybe? there are lots of Oasis and/ or Beady Eye fans who would be really interested in this

I don't like DGSS either but I thought Lillywhite was wrong to tweet what he did, beady eye have written some good songs It's probable a reaction to the attack they made on him in the Shortlist magazine. "The last record, the producer weren't right, he bailed. Gem ended up mixing it and it turned out great for what it was. But we needed a great producer" They made it sound like the songs were great but the production is what killed the album. AND the Steven Lillywhite isn't a great producer. Obviously they had a fight in the studio about Lillywhite not being happy with the song qualities and that is why he left and he wants everyone to know what his frustration was. BDI opened the door when they attacked Lillywhites livelihood even after he supported the album and never detracted from it despite the fact that he wasn't happy with the album. They had some good songs...but the only song that think was ruined by production was SOTEOTN. And even live I think it's crap...so maybe it's just a case in point that no amount of production could make a crap song sound good.

I much prefer the To be where there's life Richard Fearless verision, has a lot more to it. Can't see Noel changing though, he seems very happy with it, and given the success of NGHFB he might see it as a risk.
