If you could make your own track listing for the album using all the b-sides etc what would be your ideal album, keeping it to 10 tracks? Saw plenty of posts saying this track or that track should be on the album instead, so if you could choose all 10 from scratch how would it look? Mine - 1) The Death of You and Me 2) Dream On 3) AKA... What a Life 4) (Stranded on) The Wrong Beach 5) The Good Rebel 6) Id Pick You Every Time 7) AKA... Broken Arrow 8) If I Had A Gun 9) Alone on a Rope 10) A Simple Game of Genius What you think?

Nah, I think the album is good as is. In some parallel universe the track list is what you posted and someone is complaining about that too. Like they say, If it ain't broke why fix it. And moreover I like to have better songs as b-sides, gives it a nice Oasis feel.

I agree with that mate, having great b-sides is what makes him so god-like in many ways, but i just meant if i could have picked the track listing, from a selfish point of view, then that's the 10 tracks i would have chose. Just saw a topic of conversation in another thread and thought maybe it would be a good idea for a thread? Plus - that also leaves some very good songs to have as B-sides anyway, such is Noels genius,

Looks like a pretty solid list from view here agree with Bruno as well with the b side angle ...nice .

Noel always loved the b sides and most of us probably yourself included enjoyed them as much if not more than albums .we certainly had countless threads and discussions here about what b sides should have been on HC and DBTT and the early lps. Always made for good banter nice one

I had to take out Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me from my original list and swap it with Soldier Boys & Jesus Freaks. Just couldn't leave it off. So I know what you mean.

Any track listing with The Good Rebel inserted I find hard to take seriously. If it was originally an album track it would be panned more than Dream On.
Personally, I enjoy the album as is and I have the b-sides placed afterward on my iTunes so I get all the tracks anyhow.

Noel's album is perfect to me as is, wouldn't leave off any songs. if anything maybe it's a little on the short side so I might add in Alone on the Rope Simple Game of Genius is beautiful, but at 7+ minutes it doesn't match the brevity of the other album tracks, I'd keep it as a b-side. I would add Freaky Teeth and some of the other unreleased ones (Just let it come down over me?), but I'm hoping they will show up on the next album . HFB album doesn't need them to improve. edited to add: OH I forgot the part about keeping to 10 songs lol. well I guess I would keep the original 10. wouldn't trade any of them for b-sides

As all the bsides from other sessions they dont fit the record sound (especially drums and guitars) Stop the clocks doesnt fit the album
SO
1. Everybody's on the Run 2. Dream On 3. If I Had a Gun... 4. The Death of You and Me 5. (I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine 6. AKA... What a Life! 7. Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks 8. AKA... Broken Arrow 9. (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach
I usually dont like 9 track albums but here it doesnt matter as all 9 tracks are good enough, no fillers.

With that logic they should have cut Married With Children from Definitely Maybe b/c it doesn't fit the sound either.

I strongly disagree, Married With children fits well the record, it has that lo-fi raw sound the whole record has, except it's acoustic and not electric. It's the bittersweet lullaby to end a crazy night, when the sun rises. Stop the Clocks has treble pushed to 11, drums too low in the mix, Let there be love production... etc it simply doesn't fit the record, especially just behing Wrong Beach and its "heavy" guitars, it's like WTF am i on shuffle.

I know its not exactly answering the question but if I could include the demo's we have now heard mine would look like that.

I would mostly keep the album the same. Maybe take off RM and STC. Add a studio version of Freaky Teeth and A Simple Game of Genius. Overall I think HFB is a great listen and feels like inspired songwriting. A good thing!

There's a lot of butchering going on here but I spose that's the whole point of the thread. For me it's the only album that Noel got the tracklisting 100% right in his whole history of making albums. It flows perfectly.
Edit: In saying that though I'm not a fan of the ''sound/production'' of the album, I think Noel needed a change from Sardy. Most of the song are drowning in way to much bass.

To be honest I find the album a disappointment. Dream On, Soldier Boys and Stop The Clocks just aren't very good if you ask me. I find it weird that he had Simple Game of Genius up his sleeve and didn't use it to close the record. Then there's the production which is shit and makes it sound like Coldplay. I do like Freaky Teeth and Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me, they would have improved the record imo.

Basically I wish he kept RM closer to the demo, i'm not a fan of the cheesy choir on the song (like it on EOTR)and God knows wh he got rid of the bass line. Also I would rather have AOTR instead of STC.

I can just imagine Liam and Noel harmonizing on this in the way they did on The Turning.
