Again, like mimmi, it's mainly obscure Scottish bands like Twilight Sad and (less obscure) Frightened Rabbit. I also absolutely love ABBA - for me personally, those melodies are up there with the likes of The Beatles and Noel Gallagher as the finest melodists of all time.
There is one band I absolutely love that nobody else does is Idlewild from Scotland. Their very early stuff is very raw and rocky, but their best material is more sophisticated and mellow in my opinion. A bit like a Scottish REM.
I beg you to listen to this beautiful tune.

Idlewild's 100 Broken Windows was one of the best indie albums of the 2000's. Sadly they never came close to topping it after that. A few hit and miss albums but i think anyone getting into them start of with a best of... A great lost Scottish band are Cosmic Rough Riders. Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine is a great album sadly overlooked after that they lost their main singer/songwriter Daniel Wylie they churned out good but not amazing albums.

I'm not a big fan of their early work like 100 Broken Windows, but I think everything they have done from The Remote Part onwards has been brilliant. The lead singer, Roddy Woomble, has also great great solo work. Folky with doses of Idlewild in them, they are really well regarded in Scotland.

Mark Mulcahy/Miracle Legion www.mezzotint.com/markmulcahy.htmlEverclear Everyone should at least have their greatest hits album... ---Ten Years Gone: The Best of Everclear 1994–2004 The Presidents Of The United States Of America Sonic Youth The Wallflowers I love me some Everclear, very under-appreciated band. 'So Much For The Afterglow' is a fantastic album. The Pres. are pretty sweet too.

John Mayer (The man is a genius!) 3 Doors Down Proud Mary Snowy White I'm quite a big Proud Mary fan, took me forever to get a copy of their debut album "Same Old Blues", for those who don't know, they're the first band Noel signed to Sour Mash and him and Gem produced their album and even play on some tracks. It's a really great album and it's a shame they didn't take off tbh Yeah, Proud Mary is a really good group. Their next album will be coming out in a few months. Really looking forward to it.

Bruno, the new Proud mary album "Pilgrim Fields" is out on the 10th of March on iTunes according to the bands Facebook. And Ginger, you need to listen to the second and third albums, they are just as good as the first. You can also download a load of live tracks and demos at the blog below. proudmaryband.blogspot.com/

The Beautiful South - I love how contrasting the poppy songs are with the clever and often cynical lyrics.
Not a band, but I really like Buck 65, a Canadian hip-hop artist - his blend of hip-hop, folk, blues and whatever is quite interesting. Some of his songs (Blood Of A Young Wolf, Gee Whiz, Paper Airplane) would surely make my personal top 50 list.

Haha, I use to listen to those guys when I was in 8th grade, I have their first three albums some where in my cd collection, had literally forgot they existed. The second album was really good, Santa Monica is a good tune. So much for the after glow was pretty decent aswell. Then I stopped listening, got into other stuff and never came back to them.

Those are some of the greatest rappers of all time, especially ATCQ, Nas, and Mos Def. I'd also add Big L and Kanye West to that list.

Kula Shaker, that made two beautiful albums in the 90s and two good ones since they reformed in 2007, and The Jeevas (Crispian Mill's project in between) and their two album. Most underrated band ever.

Most of hip hop today sucks, because rappers not secured by their manhood and so on. Most of the songs about their dicks, weed, drunk, ass, pussy, hos or bitches and spending cash. Most of it sounding like whining immature and lazy sounding men with lack of motivation. Even the beat sounds shitty these days.. Not a fan of hip hop to be honest. I rather listen to early LL Cool J than anything out today.
