11 words erasing 18 years of appreciation. That's a bit sad. As much as Noel shouldn't have phrased it like he did...the outrage and vitriol is a bit much. Particularly since it obviously wasn't aimed at insulting the fans. It was only meant to put a definitive bullet in the reunion thing since the only reason for a reunion would be fan demand.
He can say a million time what a kick he gets out of the people coming out the gigs and singing along. Mention the fans in dozens of award speeches. Clap for the fans while leaving the stage. Play a song because the people that have gone to gigs have called out for it (something that I genuinely never expected him to do). Have playful repartee with them at the gigs. Sign autographs and t-shirt and albums.
But he says something harsh in frustration of a question that has gone on for a year and he is sick of and the whole fan base goes ape shit and spiteful despite the fact that everyone on this thread agrees that he actually does appreciate his fans but said something hyperbolic and stupid.
I think part of the reason that some are SO upset is because Noel is refusing to reform Oasis and is sticking to his guns.

I wish people would start to accept that Oasis is not going to reunite in 3 years time or probably forever. Noel has no reason to do it. He is now a very successful solo artist and doesn't need the headaches Liam brought him over the years. Plus Noel will probably be touring his next solo album around that time. No room for Oasis.
I can see why Liam wants Oasis back. Beady Eye isn't going like he hoped it would. It seems critics and the record buying masses went with Noel. I was lucky enough to see Oasis 11 times between the years of 1997-2008. I saw some great gigs and some ok ones (mostly towards the end). Now I am really enjoying their life outside of Oasis. More material and gigs to attend but to each their own I suppose.

Its a shame some of you can't accept that for a lot of people this really has nothing to do with Oasis getting back together. Its more to do with the implication of the comment and if people believe he meant it they might find it insulting. I think thats completely reasonable.

Tom is completely right. Some of you will defend him no matter what, it was very wrong of him to say what he said, I don't blame people getting offended by it, I'm annoyed at the comment myself. Why some of you are trying to twist his comment to make out he wasn't in the wrong is baffling, it was an idiotic thing to say, end of.

oh, please. it has nothing to do with the group's reunion (or lack thereof). it's a red herring, and no amount of ad hominem attacks is going to change that. you people are crazy if you truly believe that's why fans are upset.

You know it's true. liam skipped out the american leg of their '96 tour to look at houses. i think he's grown up since then, in his defense. that was 16 years ago and he looks and acts like he genuinely cares about the fans. |

I do wonder whether Noel actually realises what he's saying sometimes. In both the Cardiff and Nottingham interviews he blames Liam for trying to sue him. Now from what I gather Liam tried to sue Noel because he said that Liam just didn't bother to turn up to the V Festival.
Now, if I was Liam I would be mightily pissed off. People have got to remember, 90% of the fanbase believe and hang on every word Noel says so if Liam hadn't of done anything everybody would have just assumed it was Liam being Liam, rather than telling the truth and saying that he had laryngitis.
Stop lying Noel, it doesn't become you.
