Wasn't bad. What was bad was the fact that Russel Brand was allowed to do I am the Walrus, and a decision wasn't made to pull Jessie J from the stage before she ever stepped foot on it. They'd have been better off letting the audience sing than her. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Liam play the Olympics, and he seemed to enjoy it as well. As far as trending on twitter and all that, I don't expect that anyone would gain a fanbase from thier performance at the Olympics, and I could care less if all the morons out there who haven't heard Liam since 96 are now saying he sounded like shit. True fans are going to listen to him now, enjoy the music and go to the shows. Screw the rest, who cares?

I'm not surprised. It was dire pseudo operatic nonsense. So like all Muse songs since 2005?

Jessie J is apparently getting some grief for "we will rock you"
GOOD. That was horrible.

Jessie J is apparently getting some grief for "we will rock you" GOOD. That was horrible. Indeed, it was horrific. They could have picked someone from a host of marginally less offensive 'pop stars'.

Jessie J is apparently getting some grief for "we will rock you" GOOD. That was horrible. Especially since they showed Mercury just before that. May and Taylor are so talented, but they'll whore those songs out to any singer.

It sucks that Wonderwall was not included on the soundtrack. It was a nice rendition. Any insight into why it was left off? Both Wonderwall and the One Direction song arent on the soundtrack...the one thing they both have in common...they are both SONY recording artists, WTSMG was released on EPIC records, One Direction are Columbia Records. Could be that SONY didnt give permission for their artists to be on the compilation. Ed Sheeran, The Who, Muse etc, who all made the soundtrack are all Univeral, EMI, Warner, etc... artists

Just now saw the NBC feed of it. I DVR'd the whole thing and fast forwarded to this.
First off, I need to say - Spice Girls.. WOW I still would and I would on every single last one of them.
I thought Liam sounded really good. A bit nasally at times, and any longtime fan knows that he hasn't been able to hold those long notes in Wonderwall for years now. So there was nothing there that I was disappointed with in terms of his performance.
What I am disappointed with, is the fact that Noel not being there really left a gaping hole in the performance. And I'm pissed at Noel for this. What else the hell is Noel doing tonight? He's not got another gig for 2 days at a festival in Austria. Hell, he wouldn't even have to talk to Liam or any of his other former band mates. Just walk on stage and do it then turn around and leave. What a missed once-in-a-lifetime opportunity he had and he blew it. I hope he regrets this somewhere down the line.

I didn't mind the Spice Girls. Sounded good (lip syncing to the original?) and their tunes are a lot better than the Jessie J/Tinie Tempah/Cruz trifecta of shit.

I think Noel has earned the right to reunite with Liam whenever he wants to and on his own terms. As a fan it might have been cool to see, but they have deeper issues and I'd rather them to resolve those before they perform again. What you're asking for is a shallow attempt to reunite. And I don't think Noel nor Liam should regret it for a single second. They've both earned the right to reunite whenever and wherever they want. Just be happy that Liam had a pretty good performance.

I agree, too bad Liam needs Noel a lot more than Noel needs him. It was a good performance, but a bit soul-less without Noel. Same goes with their performances of Morning Glory and Rock 'n' Roll Star. Shouldn't be playing Noel's songs. Noel is Oasis. It's more evident than ever.

A stellar performance. It's obvious that Beady Eye really put their time in to get this performance/arrangement spot on.
1) Liam's vocals have improved significantly. If you can't hear the difference, you're trying not to listen.
2) This performance/arrangement is the closest I have EVER heard to the original studio recording. Nothing comes close. Nothing. The tempo is spot on. The pre-chorus guitar lines are present. The drums have the right feel (not using regular sticks). Even the little bass flourish is present at the end.
3) Noel Gallagher would not have impacted this performance in any way. How exactly did his presence improve any of the countless crap versions of this song that I've heard/witnessed over the years?
4) I can't believe I'm reading that the performance was too nasal. Seriously? The whole essence of the band is a nasal/raspy vocal. It's been nasally for almost 20 years. TWENTY. How are you even an Oasis fan?

It made me proud to be a fan. Especially considering the reaction at the stadium seemed to be pretty incredible! Didn't seem like any other song (save We Will Rock You) got such an enthusiastic reaction.

Soulless? without just the bloke playin the second guitar? come on dude, BDI did the right thing to play there, and they did a great job in my opinion

I think it was fine without Noel. It's not like fucking Ed Sheeran covering Wish You Were Here. The closing ceremony was filled with missed opportunities, not having an Oasis song there would of made it even worse. But what really should of happened was Live Forever with Noel walking on just at the right moment to play the guitar solo.

Fucking brilliant! My god as an American I am absolutely jealous at just how massive the musical difference is when comparing the quality of music that you Brits have. As for Beady Eye they just seriously blew all the other live acts out of the water and into the outer limits of space. My god how incredible, Liam's voice was just electrifying and smooth. Liam and the boys really don't need Noel. The performance was quite possibly THE best Wonderwall performance ever so Stepout please shut the hell up about that nonsense your spewing. Good job Beady Eye!

Wait, Zak Starkey, Chris Sharrock and Dom Howard ... playing the same gig. With Abe Laboriel Jr and Matt Helders opening up two weeks ago.
Are there any drummers here who can get fucking excited with me about HOW FUCKING AMAZING that is???
It's still yet to be repeated here in Australia and the response ... isn't looking that great outside camp Live4Ever ....!?! But it'd take a LOT for me not to like a Beadysis performance. Wonder what Noelly's thinking

I thought he nailed it and was surprised by the reaction elsewhere. Wonderwall is now 27 on itunes so that's something. WSTMG also at 34 on the album chart.

Liam sounded great! Especially in the second half of the song. Must be one of the best Wonderwall since 2000, in my opinion. The band sounded great as well, of course.
