U2 were on fire creatively between 1991-1993. Achtung Baby and Zooropa really pushed listeners, fans continued to follow their experiments which is great. People 10-15 years older than me still rave on about the Zoo TV tour. Wish i saw it but i was only 11. It was sad to see fans jump off when the underrated POP was released. The "commercial" failure of that album and tour really changed U2 forever. They no longer experimented. Always played it safe and the legendary greatest hits tours began. Since U2 re-established themselves with All That You Can't Leave Behind, its been the protect the brand mentality with the band. Especially when No Line On The Horizon was released, many were expecting a much more experimental album what with all the noises coming out of the studio prior to release. Instead, a lot of it was rather dull, and the 'mainstream' tracks like Get On Your Boots and I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight were shite. The first three tracks were brilliant - seemed as if they were going to be on fire but it tailed off drastically after that. I do enjoy All That You Can't Leave Behind and plenty of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb but their last album was a real disappointment and the tour that followed just seemed like a parody of themselves - that big claw was uncalled for. I still watch the Zoo TV live DVD and it's the most spectacular thing I've seen. The whole concept is mindblowing, but taking it from a purely musical point of view and it is still 11 out of 10. I watched the end of that DVD recently, when they do Love Is Blindness and then Elvis's Can't Help Falling In Love - it is astonishing. Being a massive fan, I really hope they find some of that magic on their next album again. I saw U2 three times on their Elevation Tour in 2001 (Philadelphia, Newark, Philadelphia). It was insanely good. I loved how they went from the extravagant excess of the PopMart tour to the simplistic stage design of a heart stage. You can say a lot of stuff about Bono, good or bad, but he is a true showman.

I think their Slane Castle in Ireland gig from the same Elevation Tour in 2001 is their best since the Zoo TV gigs. Never seen U2 but determined to see them live before I regret not taking the chance.

U2 should never be a point of discussion on an Oasis forum unless to ridicule. Shame on you squares. Back on topic (and taste): All Things Must Pass - George Harrison Shotter's Nation - Babyshambles Room on Fire - The Strokes Attention Attention: Internet tough guy warning.

Excellent point. If anything All Things Must Pass is called the best post-Beatles solo album. Heavy dose of praise since 1970.

ATMP isn't underrated its consinder the greatest solo Beatles album.

ATMP and the songs are largely overlooked by mainstream media and Imagine, Plastic Ono and Band on the Run are genuinely rated higher. ATMP gets kudos from big Beatles fans but barely anyone else. In my opinion it is by far the best post-Beatles album and possibly one of the best of all time. I don't think I can agree with a lot of what you are saying besides that ATMP is a great album and maybe the best solo Beatles LP. - It was universally praised in America and England when it was released. - It sold 6 million copies in the USA. More than the rest of his solo albums combined (I don't count his live albums even though it won Grammys). - In the 1970s, everyone was a Beatles fan so it never was over looked. - It continues to this day getting rave reviews. - It is the best selling solo album by any Beatles member.

Ask 100 random people on the street to name a post-Beatles album and ATMP will be someway down the list behind Imagine, Plastic Ono, Band on the Run etc. Ask them to name three tunes from ATMP and most will struggle whilst they wouldn't with Imagine or Band on the Run. I'm not sure what planet, country or state you live in but you are seriously far off base on this topic. Maybe ATMP was just neglected in your iTunes library. It isn't in many others.

Didn't My sweet Lord make it to number 1 again when George passed and the reissue of the album made into the top 10. Mojo and Q gave it 5 stars when it was reissued. Sure Chris Martin ripped off Isn't it a Pity for The Scientist. Its Highly regraded.

It's not neglected in my iTunes library. My point stands. You can either try and undermine me with silly YouTube clips which lost their originality five years ago or actually put up a decent argument. I think we all know which you are comfortable with doing and which you feel incapable of doing. Wait....I guess you missed my "serious" post listing all of ATMP merits that you are ignoring but I am stating facts.

Quote specialist music magazines and professional musicians as much as you want but it has nothing to do with my point that the GENERAL PUBLIC Joe Bloggs doesn't know about or listen to the album. Well most people I know love George Harrison's ATMP. I still hear many songs off that LP on Q104.3 in New York City. Probably the biggest rock station in the United States. A lot of people still hear those songs. I also hear them in bars. George's flame still shines bright. I think the critical praise the album got and is still getting combined with album sales means nobody is missing out for the most part. If you like rock n roll, you know and like this album.

Wait....I guess you missed my "serious" post listing all of ATMP merits that you are ignoring but I am stating facts. Since when was 'In the 1970s everyone was a Beatles fan' a fact? I'm guessing you weren't alive then. I was and they were largely despised. I'm basing that on the fact of the Beatles massive success worldwide in tour, merchandise and album sales. They sold over 100 million albums. I'm willing to wager the 70s have some Beatle fans still walking around.....because they still are today 40 years later.

Lennon was only reacting to your original comment which wasn't exactly a 'decent argument' as you put it. We're all discussing our likes and dislikes. Why you find the need to get personal and argue over every little thing is beyond me but for the sake of us lesser mortals, calm the hell down!

Plus I wasn't the only one stating that All Things Must Pass isn't an underrated album. There were at least 2-3 others. Remember Cassetti's Beard, you entered this discussion ripping on U2 and those of us who like them. Nice introduction to the forum.

All this over a 'All Things Must Pass' . . .
Clearly the album is not underrated if you two can argue over it like school girls talking about shoes.
Great album by-the-way.
Harrison in general is underrated, but this album and My Sweet Lord get plenty of praise.
Cheers!

Back to Underrated Albums
Ash- Free All Angels and 1977 although both albums got to number 1 in the UK charts they are barely known. Top band and their greatest hits is one of the best around.

I gotta admit Cassetti's Beard, you are having one hell of a first day on the forum. Let's recap:
- You interrupt a U2 conversation and mock those of us who enjoy their music - You are arguing with Harrison fans in underrated section - You are arguing with Arctic Monkey fans in the Humbug section - You are ripping on Jit saying "Cheers"......who gives a shit

I know you're trying to make your own LIB-style catchphrase with 'Cheers!' but I suggest you get a new one. If you were British you'd understand how out of context it is when you use it. It simply doesn't make sense and is cringe inducing. You are cringe inducing. Cheers!

By the way, what is this? Five against one? No wonder this forum has a reputation for having a bullying culture. The only bully I see is you. You are the one causing all this fire. Nobody else. So like you said: COOL. YOUR. BEANS.
