I didn't expect that...
The Godlike Genius announcement must have gotten him some interest.
I think this award season will be pretty good promotion for him.

It probably would be even higher if the record company didn't balls up the singles.

Last weeks total was 531k, so he must be right now at around 540-545k since the sales aren't too big. Number 1 album sold 21k. I'm not sure if he will pass DOYS, because even though he may be in the top 10 or 20, his sales aren't that big and after the Brits, the album might fade away. Maybe after he performs at the brits and/or wins awards, the sales could go up for about a week or two. I do see this album going 2x platinum in either the next month or in the long run.

He was @ 541 end of last week not 531. Over 492K in 2011, over 38K in 2012. Not sure if your math there works. Regardless, he'll outsell DOYS. The BRITS bump will take him over 600K. Oops. LOL And shoot, I meant to edit the post not delete it. I think I need a day off work soon. My brain is fried. I think that he probably will pass DOYS, as well. Which was the gist of the deleted post. DOYS had dropped out of the top 40 by it's 15th week. HFB is top 10 4 months from it's world debut which is amazing and hasn't dropped below #18 since it's UK debut. It's outsold DOYS week on week very week except that first week. I don't believe that it will necessarily drop off after the Brits. He managed to hang in the top 20 through the Christmas Season which is the stiffest competition of the year. And this week? If Noel managed to sell ~15K on a week what Coldplay could only manage ~20K? That's still pretty good.

I'm in the US and I love the album so I probably shouldn't care about UK chart position but I'm really enjoying this success.
Since Champagne Supernova is the song that made me the fan I am today when I heard it first in 1996. I have not had the chance to be a fan of a Gallagher act while it's making a surprisingly good chart run. Noel will never be an underdog but this is the first time as an Oasis fan that I've experienced an album that has been considered both a critical success and a positive commercial surprise.

I must admit, I never really expected Noels album to still be in the top 20 come February. This is unbelievable. In this era of non-brilliant unoriginal music, it is nice to see that a 40 odd year old can still make a difference in the charts and still sell

Delaying IIHAG until the third single didn't help sales of IIHAG, but it has been a boon for the album. I'd much rather have an album go BOOM than a single. It is nice to see Noel has sustained chart success. It was always sad to see Oasis singles/albums debut at #1 and rapidly fall off over the next few weeks while other artists would hang around for months and months.

So was DOYS Oasis's lowest selling album?
What are total sales for each album (from a credible source)?

Yes, it definitely is in the UK.
SOTSOG was around around 685 I think, as of 2005 or 2006.
DBTT and HC are both over 900K in the UK (3x platinum)

Well it'll be pretty amazing if Noel starts outselling Oasis albums.
I expected the album to drop out of the top 20 pretty sharpish... this chart run has been amazing. :-)
Can understand the reticence to release the more leftfield AA album now. I was just playing one of their albums and my flatmate, who's a fairly big music fan, wasn't impressed - there's no way the Tesco mums who're now keeping Noel in the charts will be interested in that album.

It could be a reason if he had made this album to be n1. But I doubt Noel had made the AA with any intention of selling million copys of it. He'll release it, just latter, when they're sure HFB has finished his run.

SOTSOG though. He would probably would need a big bump from the Brits and NME awards to really mount a charge for that one. But it is definitely a possibility. I think he probably gets to the 600,000 mark by the end of the month because of the bump that he gets from the Brits and the NME awards. And steady touring will get him pretty close if not pass SOTSOG. Can't believe we're taking about passing a couple of Oasis album. If anyone had told me this 7 months ago I would never have believed them.
