The Jools Holland show did some good.
Does Conan air in the UK out of curiousity?

Noel is at #19 of best selling albums of 2011. I'm pretty sure he'll stay there or move down to 20 because at #18 is Kate Perry, and she's at 700,000. So he ain't catching her.

I think he'll go higher. Katy Perry has sold 864,600 total as of last week but that album was released September 2010. She has sold 320,300 THIS year which is the number Noel has to beat to pass her. If Noel can sell another 60K this year he could end up top 15.

Yeah Noel should catch Katy Perry in 2 weeks since she is down in #54 with her album and Noel is selling a fair bit more. And once he catches her the next 3 albums are very close. So top 15 is very much achievable. It should beat the Foo Fighters Wasting Light album. We should remember though that there will be a few albums behind him that will likely pass him out though...like Rihanna

None of them are selling much anymore. They are either big albums from last year with residule sales or from early in the year. That would bring him to #15 assuming that Rhianna passes him. Anything above that would be a shock. He's definitely a lock for top 20 (I think 15 or 16)....he won't drop from this position. Not many below him in the top 40 are selling much.

Can anyone compare this albums first 6 weeks with DOYS first 6 weeks, in terms of sales?

Last week sales came in at around 26.6K up from 20.6K the previous week.
#16 in midweeks as of Monday night
He's holding on amazingly well into the top 20!

Can anyone compare this albums first 6 weeks with DOYS first 6 weeks, in terms of sales? Oasis 1-2-7-10-16-31 Noel: 1-2-4-8-16-15 Apparently after week 6 in the UK DOYS was #14 in the end of year album charts with sales of approximately 340K Noel's album is at #19 and has sold about 309K in the UK so far. Oasis' sixth week sales were somewhere 11.7-12.7. Noel's last week sales were 26.6K from what I can find Noel is #16 in mids so far this week. Oasis's chart run to the end of the year from here was #40, 42, 25, 27, 32. (keep in mind a #32 placement in that week of December equated for over 35K in sale) And Noel's album was released 1 week earlier in the year so he has 1 extra week of selling compared to DOYS. Apparently DOYS ended 2008 with sales of 466K. If Noel can hang on he might not end up far behind despite first week sales being like 80K less.

She's really turned into a stat-junkie. Sneaking off to the bathroom to crunch numbers on her iPhone. I can't wait to see her comparison charts and graphs for HFB and the AA album.

NGHFB is doing about as well as DOYS! Had no idea.... Wish they were releasing IIHAG a bit sooner. Seems like too much of a gap in between singles.

DOYS was released a week earlier than HFB, not later

DOYS was released a week earlier than HFB, not later Whoops. You are right. I was lazily counting the # of weeks until to the end of the year for both artists but miscounted the Oasis ones as being a bit over 4. I was too lazy to actually look up the DOYS UK release date. I looked again but properly. From their 6th sales week Oasis had 5 1/2 weeks left. Noel has 5 full weeks. Handily this year ends on a Saturday.

It's great that Noel will likely be going double platinum or perhaps even better

It's great that Noel will likely be going double platinum or perhaps even better It'd be great if Noel could go double platinum...and it's very possible. Both Oasis and Beady Eye repeaked at festival time...although Noel's benefit from that might be moderated by the fact that he will most likely have 2 albums out at that point. Hopefully the AA album doesn't step too much on the HFB albums sales potential.

I don't think he'll put it out if he thinks there's still mileage in HFB....he'll wait

I do wonder how far it would have to have dropped for him to go ahead with the AA release.
DOYS dropped off the charts by June. I actually looked again...the spike that I thought coincided with the festivals actually coincided with the release of FD. The effect of the summer supergigs and festivals was apparently minimal.

Yeah I have no data but I wouldn't expect Oasis albums post-BHN to spike much with summer gigs etc. They always sold BIG first week after all and people were more likely to buy them blind than with other bands.
Falling Down got a bit of interest as it was a bit different I guess.

Noel still #16 in the midweeks. On course for another sales increase this week it seems Shame I'm too busy with coursework to keep an eye on this forum, but it looks like nothing much is happening at the moment anyway.

It'll be months until we get more music now, which sucks.
It'd be nice to get a 4th single off this album with b-side...
