Well...now that has been empirically settled! Paint me SHOCKED that on average the fan on a FANSITE would like an album more than members of the general public who have a much more varied taste. After all...who are FANS to disagree with the almighty CRITIC. Those people are above reproach...after all...they're professionals! Never any bias' there! What is with people coming on the Internet thinking that they have the right to proscribe other people's opinions as their own is empirically right. But if start at the end says so! Let's all just fix our votes then. Everyone above or below 7 should adjust it to 7...because that is the average opinion of the critics...and endorsed by the massive brain that is start at the end. I think the knuckled-draggers are those too thick to comprehend to concept of individual opinions. And the true meaning of an AVERAGE...which means some like it more than the average and some like it less than the average, not that everyone should like it the same as the average and the only right opinion is one consistent with the average. babbling dunce: none of the above garbage changes anything. A fansite containing "critiques" that are more "lenient" "embellished", "generous", "inaccurate", "etc are everywhere, duh. The point- something you seem to miss with startling consistentcy- is of course how abusrdly detached from reality the opinions of a large number on THIS board happen to be. Do you understand mean, median, and mode, along with a cursory grasp of basic statistics? I'm guessing not by your idiotic depiction of the metacritic data. The vast, vast, majority of reviews have been "good"...very few above or below. It isn't an "average" per se in the traditional sense at all. Duh. "Individual opinions". Ummm, sure. It's my "opinion" that Ryan horward is the greatest first baseman in the history of MLB. There you go., that's my opinion so it can't be wrong. Idiotic of course. But there will also be dolts who hide behind the word "opinion" like it's an impenetrable fortress. That's just one of the many ways society can separate the intellects from the imbeciles. thanks, then. I laughed SO HARD at you throwing out terms that you obviously have NO CLUE what they mean. Someone reached back in the memory banks for half remembered high school math I think that we can safely rule you out as an "intellect" Mean median and mode all have the features that I described so it doesn't matter in the slightest which type of average I was referring to. All involve scores that are higher than the average and some that are lower. Don't know what is proved by you throwing out terms you can't comprehend to pose as some sort of statistics buff. Metacritic is based on weighted averages anyways from what I understand. Meaning they are of the opinion that one persons review is more valid than another based not off an actual assessment of the review by the individual but instead who this reviewer happens to work for. Which means metacritic means little to me as an objective measure of album quality. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you thinking that Ryan Howard is the best MLB player...as long as you don't extrapolate that to mean he empirically IS the best MLB player and all should agree. And it is moronic that you think someone is justified in telling you what you believe should coincide with the average opinions of the general population.

i'm still kinda recovering from all the madness.
Thanks.

To me it's a 9. Ok, it' not a 9 album, but in my mind it is.
Also I was surprised when I saw the Rolling Stone's USA Reader's Poll about "The Best album in 2011". NGHFB was at #8, impressive.

8/10 for me. I love it, great songs, but a bit too safe. Hopefully CY will be even better!

All my misgivings about the at times stodgy production, I still really love this album and it's pure classic songwriting and there's not one bad tune on it. And hey, I love Stop The Clocks!
The best thing from anything Oasis related since 1997 - I suppose the fact it reached a wider audience is testament to its enduring quality.
Three years after the release shows its long lasting appeal and the fact we can still talk about it in admiration is a great thing for this forum.

My biggest knock which doesn't impact the music is the shitty album cover. Noel should be vibrant and I'm glad he seems to be heading in that direction for Chasing Yesterday.

I wouldn't necessarily rate that demo as better, but it is lovely.

It's Noel's best songwriting since WTSMG. Been saying that for ages. Fucking LAG, while needed in the 2000 - 2002 time period, dragged him down thereafter.

Roll It over, Gas Panic, Go Let it Out, Revolution Song, Let's all make believe, Fuckin' in the bushes, Who feels love?, Carry us All... He said that he lost the inspiration... LOL I'd like to lost the inspiration too

My biggest knock which doesn't impact the music is the shitty album cover. Noel should be vibrant and I'm glad he seems to be heading in that direction for Chasing Yesterday. So, my Christmas wishlist was: - fire Mr. David Sardy -> done! - fire Lawrence Watson and hire Brian Cannon again -> not happening, unfortunately - fire Mike Bruce and hire any 6 year old boy with a cheap camera -> hopefully this will happen... Music is fuckin' great, but everything else around it (artwork, videos) feels very uninspired...

When rating this are we rating this based on expectation or compared to what's out there ? On what I expect of noel I give it a 5 /10 ....... Sorry but my expectStions are high when it comes to noel or liam and Id rate BDI a 5 /10 on both of theres if it's based on my expectations Of them ........ To me they both made. Meh LPS nothing i adored or instantly fell in love with ....... Same for ithotm a 5 at best maybe a 4 based on my expectations only mind you .
If your asking to rate based on the crap I hear now as new music ... .then all 3 GALLAGHER offerings Id rate a solid 8. And the new noel tune a 7 ......I think artic monkeys new tune is way better so a 7 based on what's nes is fair , and even though I have heavily critisized all 3 offerings of new GALLAGHER music it's well above the utter crap I hear today thats new ....thats how I justify my rating

Once I heard BA, EOTR and IIHAG "demo" versions, I could never go back to listening to the album versions again.

I had lower expectations from Beady Eye than Noel though, so maybe that made a difference. Noel's album still sounds so middle of the road to me and I only enjoy Broken Arrow, Everybody's On The Run and Record Machine from it, and I like the b-sides as usual. I have a gut feeling that Chasing Yesterday is going to be great, from the songs we've heard so far it seems so much more upbeat and the rumours of it being a lot more 'out there' intrigue me. If he can find the balance of finding a newer sound but keeping his cracking melodies and actually playing some guitar I'll be delighted.

I've been loving Broken Arrow lately. I've always rated it among the best songs on the album, but it might have become my 2nd favorite track from NGHFB.

It is a fantastic album, still enjoy it a lot. Bar broken Arrow... Jesus, there is no other Gallagher song that I hate as much. I mean there are songs, which don't grab me, but this is the only one I purely hate. Just the thought of it coming in the dying seconds of Jesus freaks makes me cringe. Appaulling song, think I listened to it about five times. I really, really don't understand what people find so good about it.
