Def no guitar solo then? Great song though I already told everyone that the guitar solo was included in the 90 second clip.

I'm also not enamoured by his vocals at points during the song, some of it is very good, some of it just goes too high and, I dunno, weak.

Maybe I need to listen to it more closely, or we have two different definitions of a solo. But I just riffs and fills. No solos. I think the fill we're hearing is what the guy was describing when he called it a solo..as he said they were listening over chatty people and he'd had a few drinks by this point, surely. I like the fill and think it'll really stand out of the tune live. This is going to be a massive hit live. I quite like it, but unlike the other 2 album tracks we've heard so far, it's had to grow on me a little. Also, I like BDI and NGHFB. I hate that it seems a crime to like both. Yeah, I'm guessing that too. WAL was the last song played at the listening party. Very possible that a few drinks skewed what he heard.

I love it.
Some people call it plodding and monotonous. I would say it grooves hypnotically in the same vein as 'Columbia'. The instrumental break "guitar riffs" fit the vibe of the song perfectly. I think a standard guitar solo would've sounded totally out of place.
The production is also fantastic. Everything sits very nicely in the mix.

Yes, surely, the music radar guy who wrote the preview of it was clearly shitfaced by the time this came on Sounds nothing like the preview. HOWEVER: After a few listens now, I think it sounds great. I really like the drive of the song. I'd wish the piano had been higher in the mix during the whole song, becuase I really love that '90's piano sounds so many early dance tracks had. I really don't think it sounds nothing like a dance track at all. If anything, Lord Don't Slow Me Down is more dance friendly than this xD Maybe I was an idiot for thinking What A Life perhaps could resemble something you might would've heard at a club (Obviously not Flo Rida, David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas or any of that stuff), something close, but in full Noel style. I've a feeling that this might be a grower on me, but it didn't have the impact like the glorious heartwarming If I Had A Gun had on me. All in all, I feel What A Life is more of a "Coldplay on speed" song to me, but it's alright though, because I fucking love Coldplay as well

Great song and grows on each listen, not quiet as good as If i had a gun thou.
the only thing that annoys me is the chorus, I wouldn't have minded more lyrics than "what a life"

It's funny how WAL is getting compared to not one but two Rolling Stones songs. I believe Mojo magazine said the song reminded them of Sympathy For The Devil (I guess the woohoo parts) and now We Love You based on the piano lick. I think both comparisons are a stretch. I really dig the tune though. So far every Noel track released has been vastly different than what came before. I am super excited to hear the album version of EOTR.

It seems like this is the song that's dividing the devoted fans the most, but most people that aren't already on Team Oasis seem to go mad for it.

I wanna love this song so bad, but I can only like it. My opinion about it is similar to Falling Down, where it has amazing build but doesn't deliver. Am I disappointed? Yeah. Does it change the way I'm thinking how the rest of the album will sound like? No.

Good, not great...and the half-dozen "woo-hoo's" near the end are nearly cringe-worthy but I guess I'm already used to em'.
I don't mind Bring TL, but this is clearly superior, FWIW.

wow... just finished listening to it. Gotta say, it's exactly what i expected after hearing that 1:30 min clip. Not total shit, if you're into that kind of music. If your standard is Live Forever, the song is a walking mess. Funny that Noel would always mock bands who made this kind of music, calling it "it's for the kids" and then a couple of year after, he turns around and makes a song like that and what's worse, releases it as a single. lol
the song is a monotonous as BDI's Two Of A Kind, it does nothing and it goes nowhere. I already knew i wouldn't like it but i was giving it the benefit of the doubt since it's Noel and let's face it, everyone after hearing that short 1 min clip was going apeshit, saying how it was an instant anthem and the best Noel song since Morning Glory , etc. Just like i did when IIHAG was released and praised the shit out of it, i gotta call it like i see it and say that this song is garbage.

I love Beady Eye and The HFB's, but I don't rate this song higher than any Beady Eye song, maybe other than ITBWAB. well actually i am fan of Noel and LAG. I gotta say, im not overly impressed with what i have heard so far from NHFBs. I think IIHAG is brilliant and TGR is cool(nothing great but i like it), i find TDOYAM boring and think it sounds too much like TIOBI so... to be frank, i really don't like the folksy sound that he's got going there but whatever, i acknowledge it's a good song, one i don't particularly like. As for AKA WAL, i think it sucks and that's all im gonna say, i don't wanna bash Noel and the album cos i haven't heard it in its entirety. so far we've heard how many songs from Noel, 4? I believe the first 4 BDI songs we heard were BTL(which is shit), 4LW, The Roller and.... Sons of the Stage. Gotta be honest, Up to that point Noel's playing catch-up. However i believe he has an ace under his sleeve in what i believe will be his best song in quite a while, Everybody's on the Run. We'll see what happens.

^^Anyone with LF standards needs to get a grip, I'm not a huge DM fan tbh, seems lot of Noel fans find it hard to move on, sat at home watching There and Then DVD, thankfully it seems most love this song, espec non-oasis fans, guy on R2 was saying earlier that they had "incredibly positive comments from email".
If anyone on here has not listened and taking the word of minority that the song isn't good, I would ignore as most of those are only here awaiting DM part 2, it'll never happen, Noel and music has moved on, and it's for the better, Noel is now writing songs for the time and is growing as an artist instead of being stuck doing guitar solo's every song. Just because every song Noel does now isn't same structure as everything from mid90's doesn't mean it's no good, suggest those with the probs need get with reality, you will be disappointed with the album because it's not going to be DM part 2 with same structure and guitar solos I'm afraid, so prepare for it now set up your own moaning thread and leave those who aren't afraid to open minds to enjoy.

You sound stuck in the past, IIHAG is great song but it's very Oasis, which is cool, but from early word and what we've heard album is going to be diverse so prepare for disappointment because there won't be many that'll sound like standard Oasis tracks.
