Im a bit late in this discussion but nevermind;) thats a horrible horrible song. a cross between some shitty chemical brothers remix and falling down, dunno what he was thinking. noel hasnt written a complete album in more than years and now we all know why. cuz he doesnt have the songs. his album will be alright but with one good song and two mediocre ones out of 10 its far from being a milestone. he is clearly recycling himself even more than in the past. tdoyam =iobi and aka wal=falling down+chem. broth. remix. a shame really. PS: the death of you and me 6,5/10; If i had a gun 5,5/10; what a life 3/10; the good rebel 1/10 (one of his worst songs ever) Beady Eye >> Noels efforts so far christ, the forum "pitchfork preview-review" of the lp, I suppose. hate to break it to ya, but the guy has a 100+ song catalog. There's a good chance half of these new songs will resemble what he's done. kinda the way it works. You can check the identical box for BDI, so your allusion to them being superior to Noel (very early on I might add) in that regard is a bit bizarre. fuck, even radiohead sounds like radiohead after 7 albums.

I know what u mean but the situation was that a lot of people said liam was a bit of block for noels songwriting skills in terms of voice range etc. now his long expected solo record is on its way and the three singles/teaser songs are more than mediocre and resemble some of his strongest songwriting efforts of the last decade. so Im a bit disappointed. got my point?!

Slightly disappointed, but it's still a tune. Not the best song in ages as people were crowning it, but it's still okay I guess. And it looks like the six string solo was indeed a six string solo, not a guitar solo Also, that bass drum bit at the end is just begging for a drum solo.

We'll prolly agree to disagree, galli86. Thus far, I'd total the (3) songs in A-/B+ territory.
Unless they're completely reinventing the wheel you have to be a "fan" of an artist after nearly 20 years to likely rate their new work positively. Which is why your take strikes me as odd, as I assume you're a "fan".
After 2 decades you really should know that Noel Gallagher is not leaving his comfort zone for more than a few minutes (at most, lol) on any "Noel/Oasis" LP.
Wait a few more months if that's what you're really yearning for.
But then you'll prolly get 11 "falling down re-mixes" and you'll still be in a twist.
At this point you've got 70% of the LP remaining to be disappointed by. Give it a chance.

While I enjoy Muse I have to admit they have the worst set of fans in the history of music.

But really, if you have a certain style of songwriting, how many things are you going to do that don't sound "re-hash", or "re-heated'", not that many.

"All any bands do is play what they have in their own record collections." -The Chief
Most everything now-a-days can be traced back to some other influence, it really means nothing. The question is whether or not the new material is good? More often than not Noel has come out with some good stuff regardless of where he got the idea or the sound.
If it means that much to you, then we should throw out The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, and everyone else who plays rock for ripping the hell off of the early African American blues musicians. I personally don't care about the source material as long as the new material is a good listen.
Cheers!

No, I mean, the likes of Muse fans that frequent Muse forums and the like. I saw Muse at oxegen and after that I've had enough dealing with Muse fans. kasabian were on before them (and were better imo) but the muse fans booed through most of the set. Disgraceful

Muse were popular long before the twilight films. Their best stuff was also long before the twilight films however the new stuff caters for the Twilight crowd. Before those films Muse fans were few and far between in the Unites States. Ever since those films it has become almost common place to see young teenage girls walking around the mall in their Muse t-shirts. Absolution is a really good album though.

off topic, sorry: but Muse are one of those good/great bands I'll prolly never get/like.
Listened to quite a bit of their stuff, too.

The problem with the song is not that it sounds pretty familiar. I don´t like it is pretty flat, it doesn´t change and it doesn´t goes anywhere. Noel had the chance to make something big, really big with this song. No middle 8, guitar solo, or something less repetitive. I admit he made an effort on the sound, it is fantastic. But the structure of the song is pretty average... sad.

Tbh if Noel had written this song in the oasis era, I recon he would have given akaWAL to Ian brown, just like he did with KWYG... And it would have suited Ian down to the ground. Still love the tune tho!!

I can't believe some one bothered to compare this song to Columbia some where around these parts.
This song is ok, and I give Noel credit for trying something new but it just comes off sounding flat. You think it's going to build up to something but it doesn't go anywhere, and the 'woo hoo' part kind of spoils the end.

How people can say this is better or an improvement of falling down is beyond me... at least falling down had a chorus with more than one line. And had a sort of a break in the rythm of the song. This is just a verse/chorusrepeated. To be honest, the advert clip sounded better without the woohoos and the repetiveness i say it just cause Falling Down was aalways a really boring tune for me. With no hooks that stuck with me. Nice production/instruments, but the melody is weak.

i don't have to embrace shit i don't like. I am a fan of his but i am entitled to my opinion and when he releases a song as shitty as this, i have every right to say what i think of it. i don't wanna go back and listen to MG, i want him to make songs that are on par with the songs on that album. Of course i know that's just wishful thinking. Like someone else mentioned, Noel's output wasn't exactly stellar in the last few years with Oasis and often had to rely on Liam's voice to make what was an average song seem like a good one. k+
