9/10
I can't quite put it on the same level as Live Forever, Slide Away, or Don't Look Back in Anger.

8/10. Just feel a bit sad when I hear it - I can't help to think "what if this was an Oasis song sung by LG". It has big potential. Like TGR more, and it's worse than WFTR and FD. But better than GOYHHL and TDOYAM. BDI compare: Worse than 4LW, TR, TBGO and MLN. Better than the others, probably. But it will probably grown on me. Liam would never ever be given this to sing - even if his voice was still at the 1995 era level. This is one of those special emotional Noel songs that only Noel could do justice to.

9, 9.5 if it sounds as epic as I think it will live.
10 is reserved for Live Forever, Don't Look Back In Anger, Slide Away, The Masterplan and Listen Up and I don't think it will reach those heights, but then to be honest there have only been 9-10 songs released by anybody since then that have been close to those.
I hated when TDOYAM came out and everyone was saying this shits all over BDI and stuff, I still preferred the Roller and I thought it was just because it was the first Noel release people would have used it to have a pop at Liam. However there was always a chance Noel was going to channel his inner god and produce something genuinely special that nobody around today could better, never mind Liam and I think he has here.
Can you imagine the first time he sang this to Sara? I bet he got some that night, *even the heartless Kasabian loving jock would have had to give in then!
*(this is a joke, I don't know Sara and I'm sure she's lovely)
What can I say? It's a masterpiece, so glad I didn't listen to the sound check until after and this version is infinitely better, excuse me is so much less weepy and apologetic than forgive me.

I've heard once, on laptop speakers. I prefer TDOYAM, which I loved on first listen. Anyway, it's hardly a fair judgement - I'll check it out LOUD on a better system.

9.
I think the song is too "tender" for Liam to have sang it. Can't quite imagine him doing so.
Very few songs that I can think of fall into the 10 category. IIHAG is comparable in quality to anything he has done.
Can't wait to hear it live, I think that's where it's really gonna shine.

a tentative 8! This should have been his lead single. I liking this one MUCH more. quite tasty. Noels vocals are perfffff...wonderful. This is going to be a great "sing-it-in-the-shower track.

Never listened to the soundcheck. I'd give it a 9 on first listen. Still need to hear it through proper speakers.
EDIT: Listening with headphones now at least... absolutely beautiful. The 'my eyes have always followed you around the room' bit gives me chills.

I've religiously stayed away from the sound check version and i'm glad i did. 9/10 Same here. I listened to the youtube stuff a few months back, gave it a listen or two and that was it. didnt hear it again until today's official air play. Glad I did. This sounds fuckin rad. Someone mentioned Liam doing this track...not too sure about it, at the way his voice has gone in the last decade, nope. His prior '97 voice, definitely.

I don't buy the idea of Liam singing this. And even if they could tweak the vocals for the album version a bit to make it sound better he'd probably still sound annoyingly nasal like he has on every ballad in recent memory.
And live he'd butcher it. Bite of off those phrases and snarl and stomp like had done for years.
It's a solid 9 for me and it may get better
I agree that 10/10 songs should really mean something to you. It's too early to mean anything deep and abiding to me. It could get there. And I am looking forward to the radio sessions because I think this is going to be big on them.
I daresay anyone that would prefer a plainer acoustic version well get their wish from those sessions.

I fear the 10/10 people may be suffering from the freshness bug. Maybe it will stay 10 out of 10, but I feel freshness always skews ratings. I gave this a 9 but I'm guessing when all is said and done it will be an 8. TDOYAM and TGR have already dropped a bit (still great though) from my original rating, and so have some BE songs (though some have grown and aged well).
Either way this tune is very very good and I hope to hear more this good.

Imagine Liam singing it. THERE I SAID IT OMG I SAID IT. I said it in another thread too, the BBC6 Liam interview one where Liam says he sang on half the tunes. I wonder which ones he sang on. I can definitely hear him singing this one Now THOSE demos I'd really want to leak! I can't remember what thread I said it on, but I'll say it here again: No way would Liam ever be given this song to sing, even if his voice was still as good as the 1995 era. This song is was too personal and emotional - only Noel can do it proper justice. I would not want to hear Liam on a song like this. It's like Talk Tonight and The Masterplan - the tenderness of Noel's voice suits the song much better. The emotional impact and meaning would be lost if given Liam's rough and raw edge, I feel.
