If we take Beady Eye - The Roller as an example - 4000 vinyls (the numbered ones) - extra unnumbered vinyls - downloads through iTunes - downloads through website (and other sites) They were around 25 at the highest in the iTunes chart before they started going down again. I don't remember what place they ended up in the official midweek chart.. Anyone? They oficially charted at 31. Noel will probably sell: - around the same amount of vinyls - extra CD format - more downloads through iTunes (as he's been up to 17 already and there's the multiple format thing with or without video) - also the downloads through the site & other sites (amazon, ...) I think he could chart quite high. Plus the fact that The Death Of You And Me is a far better song. ;D Would still be surprised to see it in the top 20, mind.

As mentioned earlier it has had very little airplay, just out of curiosity - what does it take for a song to gain alot / max airplay from the start? As we all thought it was a very radio friendly tune from a living legend

#8 after 2 days is good going. That's all the preorders and stuff included though. Should end up near the end of the top 15 at the end.

The UK Charts are just absolutely dominated by pop music. There is almost nothing remotely rock oriented that gets a ton of airplay.
Coldplay, the biggest band in the world, a UK band and a very tame, radio friendly band, peaked at #6 with their new single.
Other first singles:
Foo Fighters: outside top 20 Arctic Monkeys: outside top 25 Beady Eye: outside top 30 Red Hot Chili Peppers: outside top 40 Elbow: outside top 100
these are among the most popular rock acts in the UK right now. It's just a rough time to be a rock band from a singles chart perspective.
Noel should be thrilled if his single reaches the top 20.

great..from where got this info? Available at all good music forums ;D I'm sure the preorders from HMV, Play, and iTunes are all tallied in the midweek chart. But I doubt that NG.com have already compiled and submitted their sales and preorder yet, right? I doubt that whatever organization compiles the midweek charts also requests information from every individual artists website. Seems like that would be a lot of work to compile for an unofficial chart chart that people don't really care about in the end. Is the b-side attached to the single on iTunes in the UK? Just curious. I thought that BDI missed a trick not bundling the single and b-side so that people had to buy the single to get the b-side.

The Beady Eye singles were also higher earlier on due to the vinyl sales being tallied into the total at the first midweek. Millionaire/TBGO were both top 40 in the first midweek thanks to this. I assume it's no different here. And you can buy the B-Side separate. Which is unfortunate.

I'm still thinking between 14-8 as a charting. 8 is probably a stretch because it will probably slip and most of the pre orders have been counted. So I think he'll end up nicely between 12-14.

I agree with this. BTW, he is #16 on iTunes currently when you combine the 2 versions. Although I didn't bother to check if the tracks immediately above him have other versions charting (which they probably do)

This way the b-side charts which is absolutely useless and in no way benefits it's A-side! If a selling point of the Noel/BDI/Oasis singles were b-sides why not attach them to the singles? At least it's available though. Annoyed me that I couldn't get the BDI b-sides except illegalling or on vinyl....for which I don't even have a player.

And how much it slips over the next 48. Such as if I wake up tomorrow and he's somehow in the Top 20 of Itunes, then I'll bump the charting up closer to 8. But if I wake up and he slips to say 28, then I'll bump it closer to 14.

NG.com doesn't independently handle their sales. They have a distributor which reports all their sales for them.

Do all formats of the single count towards chart position?

If a selling point of the Noel/BDI/Oasis singles were b-sides why not attach them to the singles? The days of charging fans £2.99 to get one new track are gone. Good.

also the b-side is #36 in the mids.. these sales will be added to the a-side #8 latter on in the week. So noel is technically higher than#8 if combined
