Your typical Noel Gallagher penned B-Side. Could have seen this on any future Oasis releases had they still been together. I hate the posts that state "If Liam sung this, you would praise it", etc as I don't think many on here have those inherit biases....but one has to wonder here: If this was on an Oasis album (HC, DOYS, the 8th album, whatever) would it really be getting this much of a mixed reaction? I'm not too sure..... I've liked all your posts about this song. And yes, I've been stalking you. I understand difference of opinion, but I don't see why this is song is getting so much dislike. Repetitive chorus? That's common: Stand By Me, Cast No Shadow (especially the x25 repetition of 'as he face the sun he cast no shadow), just to name a few. And i'm with NL4E, I think just because it's Noel's solo project there's this constant disappointment because it's not a life-changing tune like The Masterplan. It's not the best, but 4s and 5s? C'mon man!

About 900 times I think and the tune is fucking awesome.

Seriously? The song has not one but two sections of the songs that are one lines(pre chorus and the chorus) repeated and repeated it screams lazyness from Noel. The verses are alright but since they arent groundbreaking the song gets down in quality.

IGBM is ruined by its long ending. I can make it through MP and AATW before I make it through IGBM. It as a decent solo but my god you could tell they were doing massive amounts of coke to make that song that long and not really add anything to it.

Cast No Shadow (especially the x25 repetition of 'as he face the sun he cast no shadow) Cast No Shadow is fucking beautiful. It is a little repetitive, I'll give you that. If Noel had written more lyrics to that, it would be an 11/10 for me. You can knock it for being repetitive but it's still really fucking good. How's the dark side treating you? What's it like living in a place completely void of light?

From Stand By Me, the pre-chorus repeats that "just won't let you go" several times, and the chorus repeats the same line 4 times in 3 different parts of the song. And that was an album track! It's still an awesome song. The Good Rebel isn't more repetitive than that and it's almost a minute shorter.

I love Cast No Shadow. i'm just arguing that repetitiveness isn't a bad thing. cast no shadow is fucking great haha. You do not know the power of the dark side.

This lacks the memorable melody that made the repetitiveness of the aforementioned Oasis songs tolerable.

Ignorance is like a veil drawn over the face of things. The unfortunate ones who cannot remove this veil from the face of things, will never be able to penetrate into the truths of creation. The greatest ignorance is unawareness of God and if it is combined with arrogance, it becomes a kind of insanity impossible to cure. God just called me, he wants his crazy guy back.

PLus, you are talking about bhn b-sides, but do you rank the good rebel higher than any of them? The Fame, flashbax, stay young, sister lover... they are all way better than this 5/10 - thank god it's a bside

Really liking this song, especially the 90s sound. I agree with whoever said it sounds like "All in the Mind" and REM. I thought of "Texarkana" when I heard it: , which coincidentally starts with the line "20,000 miles to an oasis."

Considering how old this song is (title has been knocking about since what, Don't Believe The Truth?), I'm not shocked it's not the greatest thing in the world. It's a good song, but not considered an Oasis-caliber b-side, at the time at least. These debut releases by Beady Eye and NGHFB are more or less clearinghouses for unused Oasis songs. It's the next albums that will tell a lot for me.

Lazy (Noels favourite chords)...but triumphant. Simple but powerful. A little repetitive but not enough to bother me. I like it, reminds me of Full On and BHN bsides. Good song, 7/10. I'm sure it will be a real hit live.

It's great that some of you like the song, but I think throwing heaps of praise at it (like NL4E is doing) is pretty unwarranted.
Does anyone actually think Noel spent more than 10 minutes writing this song? We all know the strokes of genius this man is capable of...I'm pretty sure he just threw this together one day and went "Yeah, that'll do."
