The Smiths man makes controversial comment onstage in Warsaw: "We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead. Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Shit every day." www.nme.com/news/morrissey/58312I hope that he really didn't say that.

Smooth statement by Morrissey. Glad I'm not a fan of Morrissey or The Smiths. He seems like an idiot, in my opinion.
For a month ago or so, he canceled the concert here in Sweden just because it looked like there would be rain. And then when the gig were supposed to kick off, the sun was shining. He don't care about the fans.

I'm a big fan of both The Smiths and Moz, but in the past few months he's made some really bad comments, it seems like he wants to be controversial so somebody would sign him to release his new album. Very, very disappointing

I'm a big big fan of The Smiths and Morrissey also, but I do agree here that his comments were highly insensitive and not a very wise thing to say at all - but everyone in their lives says something ridiculous. It's just the height of stupidity to compare McDonald's to an extreme right wing mental case. If that's his view then why would he surround himself with anyone who eats meat?
But his view has always been that animal's lives are just as important as human life - murder all the same, this is what he's getting on about.
I love the fact that he's incredibly outspoken, but as always , there's always going to be a moment where our heroes go a little bit overboard with their statements (let's not forget that our very own Noel told Damon Albarn to 'get AIDS and die').
I still idolise the man though.

Take a look from his perspective.
He believes that animal life is just as important as human life and McDonalds and KFC do kill, butcher and serve millions of animals each day so in his belief millions of animals obviously dwarf the 78 people that died in Norway.
I'm not saying that I agree with his comments and I am not a vegan myself but you have to acknowledge and respect his beliefs and see where he is coming from.

Obviously it can be interpreted as insensitive by many, but I think he is making a general comparison to the meat industry as whole. Not only do Mcdonalds and KFC slaughter millions of animals a year, in the most appallingly cruel ways, in the most appallingly cruel conditions but there is an argument of the meat industry being unsustainable, and the monopoly on the worlds maize and grain that big capitalist corporations use to feed their animals, that could be used to feed the starving etc. The simple fact is that the vast majority of western society has it's head buried deep in the sand when it comes to this issue. Norway was a terrible horrific tragedy of course, and I agree it's a pretty crass statement to make so soon afterwards, but I can see his point. Oh and The Smiths are an amazing band.

Yeah, lost a lot of respect for Morrissey after reading that statement. Don't get me wrong, I'm for animal rights 100%, but there's a line here, and he crossed it. What an idiot!

Now his comments were highly insensitive and unwise at this time, but the way these animals are treated with such neglect by HUGE organisations like McDonalds and KFC is completely unethical. It's a problem we have here in the UK with Tesco also. And him calling the Chinese 'sub-human'... well he's right. It's not racist at all. Anyone who treats animals in such a manner is subhuman. It doesn't matter whether it's my next door neighbour or the Chinese.

Yeah I'm a vegan and Morrissey has a point. The animals used for McDonalds and KFC aren't shot, they are slaughtered in murderous ways after having had to live their entire lives in cages that are so small that they are unable to tun around. Pigs expecially, have to give birth in an enclosure that they can't move in - an enclosure that they were born in. And then they are slaughtered while they shriek and cry in a similar way to a human. Pigs are very smart animals as well. It's basically like killing and cooking up Steven Hawking and shoving him between two sugar patties.
Think about that next time you order extra bacon on your McGrease Deluxe burger.
But relating the issue to the Norway incident so soon after it happened was a mistake. People can't sympathise with him for that reason alone, and they are separate issues altogether.

Its not what he say's or his views, its the way he goes about saying them. Just seems like he's trying to generate controversy rather than actually inform or anything. And by doing this he does his cause more harm than good. He just a bit of a plonker tbh who shouldn't be taken to seriously.
