A bit to soon for this kind of comment but he makes a valid point. Thousands of animals are killed everyday in horrible ways.

A bit to soon for this kind of comment but he makes a valid point. Thousands of animals are killed everyday in horrible ways. Animals eat animals to survive since the dawn of times. We're animals. And just because some of us got more sensible and with conscience and philosophic issues it doesn't mean it's wrong to eat meat. Now, referring to your post, how do you want animals to be killed? Tickled to death?

I completely agree with you, BlueJay. gdforever, there is nothing useful in killing animals, in my point of view. People don't need meat (I live my whole life, at least as long as I can remember, without eating meat, so I know what I'm talking about). It's luxury at the animals' charge. It's just pure egoism and disrespect towards them. So do you eat plants, eggs ..? Those things are also living things you know? And eating eggs is like eating a small embryo I don't care about these kind of discussions though as they are futile. People have their own beliefs and I think that is great, that's what make humans and their cultures interesting. They should express their ideas without fear and if other people don't like them, well, they don't like them. I don't agree with morissey but I'm glad he doesn't hold his ideas to himself

I'm not a vegetarian, but sometimes I'd like to be. I think the whole problem with meat is the industry. It's absolutely disgusting how animals raised for meat are treated.... It's inhumane and it also produces meat that just isn't healthy to eat. It's pumped full of antibiotics, and cattle is often raised corn, which they wouldn't naturally eat. Corn turns to sugar, which fattens the cow up nicely, and that fattens up the people who eat it.
Not to mention the slaughtering process... Lots of yummy ecoli bacteria floating around.
Food, Inc is a really eye opening film about the meat industry in the US.. Dunno if anyone has seen it. Highly recommend it though.
It was a pretty shit thing to say about the tragedy in Norway though. No matter how much you love animals, at the end of the day their lives aren't worth more than a human's. Implying that they are by saying the meat industry is worse than nearly a hundred people being killed in cold blood is just ignorant.

Yeah that's because humans are idiots and inflict those things on themselves. It's a different situation with animals because they are not as smart as us, and are not as able to evade being captured or eaten as we are of them. Therefore, we have a duty as the dominant species of the planet to care for them and deal with them humanely. Humans are smart enough to resolve their own problems so the thousands that are killed everyday are much less of an issue than the millions of animals killed everyday. Sorry to bump this thread.

Isn't this a pretentious, and an elitist stance? Who are you to tell people what's moral and what should be done? No one forces you to eat meat, so don't try to force people to be vegetarians. Just saying. Do what you want, and accept that others have a differing opinion and approach.

I was stating my opinion in regards to what I believe we should be doing and how we should do it, I don't recall forcing anyone onto it. Is it pretentious? probably, but sometimes we have to be pretentious in order to get the wheels of action in motion. Had I put " I think...this should happen" instead of "This should happen", would the prententiousness be rendered obsolete? Actions speak louder than words.

why is it when it's a human, it's an abortion, but when it's a chicken, it's an omelette?

In reply to the original question "Is Morrissey Fucking Insane?". Yes, yes he is. And that's why he is great We might have our differences, but you're spot on here. If I met you in a pub, I'd probably get on really well with you or either smash your head in with a bottle. But hey, at the end of the day, I'm not going to hold any grudges anymore. Brownie's honour.
