Great article, especially the bit about AA. I literally don't know what to expect for this second album. Play it smokey...brilliant. I never thought Noel would take orders like he seems to have done, he must really respect this AA lad. Has anyone listened to AA's stuff, I hadn't heard of him till Falling Down, is it worth a listen?

I'm really surprised that the AA guy gave orders to Noel, thought it would be the other way around. I hope the second album is listenable, not like the awful FD remix.

I don't like the idea that Noel was at the complete mercy of Gaz and Brian for the entire second album. It almost sounds like he was being used as a puppet.

I personally love the fact that Noel was being produced like that and taken out of his comfort zone so to speak. In that Mojo interview he kept stressing he isn't a "guitarist" or a "singer", he is a "songwriter". He should stick to what he does best and that is writing amazing tunes. It is rather telling that Dave Sardy had to fly to England to break the news that the tracks he produced were shit and they needed to be redone. Noel needs production guidance. Noel said on the DOYS tour that he wish he met Sardy earlier in the band's career so their albums could get the proper production it deserved. I think it was always too much on Noel to write most of the album, demo it, play in the band during recording and produce it. He has also stated many times that he thought everything he recorded was brilliant and sometimes needed someone to stop and say it was crap. I am looking forward to seeing the results not just of AA but Sardy as well.

you are listening to a cutted in half(or three) thanks to youtube version? alright. well it's an interesting take on the song, anyway. a lot going on, under the right circumstances and influences it'd be really interesting. it's different, i like that kind of music sometimes, especially when not sober and listening to it with headphones. good things.

I don't think it's smart to use the Falling Down remix as a point of reference for Noel's AA collaboration. In the end with FD, you had some guys take a 4 minute song, and make it into a 22 minute song. They were given an already completed song, and told to make it something else. And I think that's the main reason it didn't come off well.
In this situation ,they're doing these tracks from scratch. It won't be them trying to stretch a track. And I don't think that Noel will release anything that he doesn't like.
For me, the AA FD remix is exactly what it is. An experimental b-side. I don't think it's smart to use that as a point of reference for what Noel's album will sound like with AA.

What I find interesting is that most Noel songs are VERY structured and melody focused. Most AA songs, well, aren't. They're a bit more aimless and wandering. So It'll just be interesting to see how the two extremes interact with each other.
