Fuck me, I'd take this over all of Beady Eye tunes combined. Yes, it is a second TIOBI, and TIOBI was pretty much the best Noel tune in the last 10 years. So yeah, quit fucking moaning and appreciate the music.

i wont, YOU will do that for me though.... answer this, do you think this song is better than any song BDI has released? In full disclosure, I do think this is a better song than just about everything BDI's released, bar Four Letter Word and possibly World Outside My Room. Here's why. (Please don't call me a fanboy.) Noel's songs usually have a strong melody. None of the songs on DGSS have a soaring chorus like this one does. That's my biggest thing. Strictly from a songwriting perspective, Noel is just a marvel to listen to. My biggest gripe with BDI is several songs sounded like they were missing entire sections. What really makes TDOYAM for me is during the very last chorus at the "I can feel the storm clouds comin'" part, instead of the song ending, it leads right into a coda with a reprise, the "watching my TV" part. There was nothing like that on DGSS. No surprises. It's just very straightforward songwriting, and these little flourishes makes me appreciate Noel's music that much more. Always see a lot of this on the forum, and thats fair enough. While I don't like the new tune to much its pretty well written. Is it better than tunes on DGSS from a technical stand point? Yeah probably. Does it have more sounds and instrumentation? Maybe Does that mean I like it more? No. The best thing about BDI are that they are good fun, its what struck me the first time I listened to BTL. Noel's is a plodder and not one of his good ones at that. I hope and expect there to be a lot better on the record though. I don't really think this is an indication of things to come.

I think we all need to stop being so damn extreme on this.
I was expecting a masterpiece... and I don't think we have that...
We do have a really really good song, and in time maybe it will become a masterpiece?
It has a jazzy almost 30s vibe to it in some senses... then it has a TIOBI in there too.
It is a simulair song, they are both good.
And yes, this is better than any song Beady Eye has... BDI is a good band, but this is just better... can't really argue.
It's better picking in there, better style... lyrics are about even or so.. but it's still a good written song.
Fresh is the word that comes to mind. There's NOTHING in radio that sounds like this. It's new, it's fresh and it's awesome.
I think we all had our hopes up so so so high, and that may be the fault of why some are really hard on this song.
"The Death of You and Me" is a dancing, jiving tune that has a timeless quality about it.
It has grown on me tremendously from this morning when I posted about it.
I'm happy with it. I think it's a great start... keep them coming Noel. I'm pleased

You really think Noel was going to release a "masterpiece" as his first single? Come on man.

i think that the verse of this song has a feel unlike noel has ever done before, and then for the chorus he KIND OF gets a bit lazy and goes back to what he knows best with TIOBI drum beat. Love the tune though.

You really think Noel was going to release a "masterpiece" as his first single? Come on man. Considering this is his first single as a solo artist it should've been closer to a masterpiece than what we have, which is basically filler.

definetely a grower... I love it. Very new which I was hoping for. I must admit I like the fact he's not heavily relying on guitar solos this time..a totally new direction. I think his album will be liberating in some ways - Respect for that!! Nice move Mr. N. Gallagher.. smart move.

Don't call people fanboys for liking a track you dont. what hypocrite. that's just what you're doing. posting smartass remarks or straight up laughing at posts who think Beady Eye has better songs than this. You must be mistaking me with someone else, you gobshite. I like Beady Eye. I even stated that in a previous post in this thread. Am I not allowed to like this song? Jesus christ. You accused people of being fanboys for liking this track/GOYHHL. That makes no fucking sense. They both happen to match my musical taste. What's wrong with that? If Noel had released a track like PYMWYMI I would have been going fucking mad, like you appear to be. But I wouldn't be shoving my opinion down peoples throats and calling people that have a different opinion to me 'fanboys'. Fucking hell, you really are an idiot. Arrivederci.

First impressions weren't great but I like it. Its a good song, really good one but not a classic/masterpiece or whatever. But no one should have expected it to be. Hes hardly going to release a masterpiece as his first single back.
He just wants people back talking about him and then when people remember who he is, he will release a stomper of a tune. Hes just re-introducing himself now. Looking forward to the b-side now !

The video is only outdone by the album art in terms of blahness. Very forgettable.

First impressions? Boring, bang average, Noel by numbers. Sounds EXACTLY like TIOBI (in tempo and flow) but with a choir on top. It might grow on me but it doesn't grab you it's a safety first solo single and if this is what he has chosen as the flag bearer for his album then the album will be boring and one paced as well. lgfaver is right, people are wanking over it bevause it's Noel and he can do no wrong. If BI had released this as their first single it would be getting slated by everyone. There is no choir...have you listen to it? And the fact that 2 specific detractors, that I never agree with and now refuse to talk to, backed the post up without pulling it up on that says A LOT!

after a dozen listens i think i have settled my opinion on it, really like the mood of the first half of the song but i think the last hlaf lacks something until the end but i thik the lyrics are some of Noels best.
in terms of its relation to the album it seems like it will be the shortest track which is a good thing but i hope none of the other songs sound anything like it.

Its a o.k. return from the man himself but nothing more. Still cant wait for the album as no doubt it will be getting blasted to death for many months to come and to have our kid out there on the road again soon is only a good thing. This music scene as we call it is piss poor these days so the more music we get out there either from noel or the beady boys isall good in my eyes. Its a free download on there website or Facebook page. And if am honest am more buzzing about The Twang's new single "Paradise" that has just been released on a free download today. A quality tune from the uk's most underated band "In my eyes once again" so dont shoot me bashers... The Twang have a new single out today? I must find this!!

You can't say that you think it's bad. you can not like it...
YOu just can't say that this is a bad tune. It's good. You can't subjectively say it's "bad".
It's just fabulous i think.
4/5 stars

Am I the only one who thinks the whole Beady Eye vs Noel creative argument is pretty irrelevant, not to mention redundant?
Different songs written by different people.
I like both.

the tune should have been on the recent movie Passion play, it has the same feeling. but what i love is the strings and choir on the webpage. Blizzard should immediately buy this track for their Diablo III intro. No other tune will come suitable (except for the old Conan soundtrack).
anyway i dont think TIOBI is noels best work in years, for me, it is the worst track on the album. Keep the dream alive, Turn up the sun, Let there be love, even Liams tunes are much better. so yeah i am a bit dizapointed with TDOYAM, but even more i am looking forward for the tunes with the choir.

The sound and goal of the songs is so different that it's really difficult to come up with any meaningful comparable from DGSS to TDOYAM. THIS. Bullseye.

Am I the only one who thinks the whole Beady Eye vs Noel creative argument is pretty irrelevant, not to mention redundant? Different songs written by different people. I like both. The nature of music is to compare. Whether creatively, critically, commercially. Music is meant to be compared and debated. If you find that redundant, then this forum and music are probably redundant in themselves.

It's good, but not a single. It likely would have made the next Oasis record. In my opinion, it does not fare well compared to Four Letter Word and The Roller.

I find TDOYAM to be better than anything Beady Eye put out thus far. Noel does a great job in utilizing different intstruments ie the brass sections, the choir and orchestra we heard in Everybodys on the Run. I feel like this album is gonna be his "kitchen sink" album he always wanted to do with Oasis, with the orchestras, choirs and big brass sections. This single is good news for us, Noel is doing just fine without Oasis, which I think everyone knew he would be, and Im happy to hear this new album of his. TDOYAM is a grower for sure, and sounds timeless. Noel is on top form, Vocals are fantastic. The chief is back fellas
