its a forced anthem noel said so himself. i think they are good tracks but what you say is right. not to mention the whole lomax / jamie leak fiasco hyping them up all the more For those of us that have been around a long time, its a lot longer. I remember first hearing of STC during the HC days, and then he played the Zanzibar gig that same year. It took 5 years from there to finally see the light when Lomax/Jamie came on the scene.

I would like something that he would be proud of saying(in 10 years or so):"It's the best thing I have ever done since MG, and its so different!" wherter he does the A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind By Noel G or the acoustic album that everyone knows that he's capable of do.

A thread that started out with such promise has now turned into a school yard pissing match. I honestly can not believe some of the things that have been said here. Funny thing is, as some have stated, who knows how much of this speculation is even true? Anyway, trying to get back on topic, I fully believe that Noel is fighting a losing battle if he decides to release this record the "old fashioned way", using a major record label for promotion and distribution etc. In 2011 it is close to impossible for any music artist to be given any real authority or free will to make an album, using their own, independent creative talents, and to then take it in whatever direction they please. Sourmash is correct with what he said.
Simply look at Noel's/Oasis own history and the 2 albums they've produced (almost entirely) on their own. SOTSOG & Heathen Chemistry both received lukewarm to negative reviews upon release, for the most part. I believe there is a very good reason for this. Let's be honest, these albums were not that bad, and in my view SOTSOG is the best record Oasis made post 90's. Heathen was a pretty good record, and when you consider that Noel only wrote half of, it it's even more impressive. Oasis went their own way for those records, produced them as a band, and pretty much told the industry to piss off. In turn, those records received very little publicity, promotion, radio play, and here in the U.S. Oasis were, from that point on, written off as a washed up Beatles Tribute Act. I can count on one hand how many times I heard any singles from those albums on the radio in the NY/NJ market. Does it come as a surprise to anyone that after Sardy came on board as Producer for the final 2 studio releases from Oasis, suddenly the press started to praise them again, claiming DBTT and DOYS were a "return to form", and radio play, promotion, were also increased significantly?
Sourmash is right, you don't want to take up a fight against the powers that be in the music industry. They have all the leverage in the world and if you don't play by their rules, they will eat you for lunch and then shit you out for dinner. There are plenty of examples of this. Noel can either play the game and let them take control, or he can walk away and do it on his own and release this entire thing independently. Obviously, he will have to forfeit all the publicity, radio-play, promotion, and everything that comes along with it. But Noel does have a large enough following to move plenty of records without any help from "The Machine". I don't think Noel will go this route, but you know he is probably torn up over this. What a shame. I really think a Noel/AA production would be legendary. I guess we may never know.

I truly feel sorry for xtrmntrscream. It's very apparent his childhood was not too fair to him. Instead of adding to his pain and suffering, I choose to ignore his sorry excuse for human interaction. But I digress, like I said, it's probably not his fault. cmon brah why you hatin? do you really think marcus russell has some massive control over the music industry and even if he does do you think he would submarine his own client solo career? Trust me when I tell you I am in no way "hatin". Marcus Russel? Marcus Russell has about as much control over the music industry as Yolanda Saldívar. He's a manager, and my post had ZERO to do with Marcus Russell. What I'm saying, in a nutshell, is this: Noel Gallagher comes from a band that sold over 70 Million records, they (music industry powers that be) simply will not allow him to produce/create his own record without having one of their own involved to look over/authorize the entire production. His music influences too many people. The only way Noel will be able to do his own thing is if he does it independently, releases it on his own label. That is what I "think".

He does not have a record deal in place (solo) as far as we know. This is why the Marcus Russell information is interesting. Noel is in the perfect position right now to do EXACTLY what he wants, and if hes being forced by "industry" to go in one direction, its a bit shit. The fact that he comes from a band that sold whatever million records is the exact reason why he should be allowed to do what the fuck he wants to. He also has the money to release it independently if he wanted. It really doesn't matter at this point. The AA stuff may not be that good and this other batch could be better. At the same time, I want Noel to put out whatever he wants to, fuck what the industry thinks. This should be his time to do this.

If he does make an album with AA, I just hope he leaves out the sitars, theres nothing worse then a band using them in an attempt to sound psychedelic.

No. Absolutely not. Noel's best material tends to be his freshest. There's a reason why Record Machine and Stop the Clocks have not been released. They're just not very good. When Noel sits on material, its because its not good enough. All Around the World is an old song that made Be Here now that he wrote pre-DM. I personally think its the worst song they ever did until Let There Be Love, which was also an old tune. In the 90s Noel mentioned several times that he had specifically saved AATW (which he obviously viewed, at least then, as a huge classic song) to be released at a time when they could afford the kind of lavish production it needed. So he definitely was not sitting on the material because he thought it wasn't good, quite the opposite. Well LTBL is the first Oasis song I truly loved, and I still thinks it's one of their most beautiful. I think its pompous, overproduced, and completely shit. The early version (It's A Crime) is at least honest. I too vastly prefer It's A Crime to LTBL. But what do you mean with at it being "at least honest"?

Please keep other chatter to other topics on the forum. People come on this thread to check on any latest updates on Noel's solo effort and its annoying to have to sift through posts and posts of shit schoolboy banter! (i'm guilty of this too so I too will stop)
Keep it for the playground folks!
Lets stay on topic (even if the posts are as ridiculous as the one 2 posts above)
So....whats the latest? :-)

Back on topic, I hate to say it but I think Noel should scrap the AA sessions and start from scratch if the material turned out as bad as the record execs are claiming. The bottom line is we need commercial hits and anthems for the album to be a success.

I hope its a success for Noel's sake and if thats what he cares about, but Id rather an artistic statement than anything else. I doubt he gives two fucks about the charts in respects to this album. He's already richer than he could've possibly imagined. Its not about that shit anymore. Artistic albums can be a commercial success. You actually are rooting for a formulaic album, Lomax? So fucking dense.

If anyone can pull it off, it'd be him. how can you agree with everyone? I sincerely hope Noel DOESN'T follow the same path as he did with those bloody shite remixes on DOYS All Noel needs is a guitar - the rest can be magical, so long as he has the songs. BUT ... if he comes out with an album that includes STC and Record Machine etc - people will forever wonder just how good that last Oasis album might have been?
