Just got mine. Probably read it next week. Then I'll feel really justified in judging Tony. =P

How does slating Tony make me spoiled? Was that just a word you used because you thought it would make you look intelligent as opposed to just calling me a knobhead? The book is very poor IMO. I didn't find it particularly funny (some of it was, more of it needed a tumbleweed blowing after it). I mean, it could have been better written, the co-writer didn't do a very good job. I also don't believe what Tony says in the book. Look at what he says about Supersonic and then look at what Noel, Liam, Bonehead and the Real People have to say about it. I paid for it, I read it, I can slate Tony as much as I like. Have you read it? Toon does make a salient point. I don't know whether the new crop are getting worse or you're getting better or we're just agreeing more...

^^Listen we're not the ones who released a book. Not everyone is going to stand in mass and like the book, if you want that then go somewhere elese where you don't have to think for yourself. This is an Oasis forum and if it so happens that people slate Tony then it is their right. No one asked Tony to release a book. When he released his book he was asking for positive and negative opinions about him and the book.

^^ Exactly.
He opened the discussion by releasing a book.
It's not like he is expecting non-Oasis fans to buy this book...he is expecting people just like us on this forum to buy it. The more we bang on about it the more people may buy it!
So if we wanna discuss it...so what?
Tony knew that he was opening himself up to criticism...he did it anyway. He's getting money from it...that is what he wanted...I doubt he cares what we think of him as long as some of us buy the book!

I thought I would take a peek through the acknowlegements before I started reading the book tomorrow. All I can say is, "What a twat!"
Basically there are 10 pages of thank you's to anyone that he has ever known. However...what I found most interesting was this.
NON-GRATITUDE
Noel Gallagher After numerous albums and a spot of on-stage stage diving in Canada, Noel finally decided to call it a day with Oasis. He can currently be seen on Soccer AM every Saturday morning with his hair. His impending solo career should prove the final step in his search for that knighthood. Good Luck, Sir Noel, although I hope and pray it doesn't involve a cover of Paul McCartney's frog song.
Paul 'Guigs' McGuigan After marrying the stewardess he had met on the flight to Japan, Paul retired to his back garden in north London Frankly, anyone that tries to argue the Tony doesn't still harbour a grudge and bad-feelings for Noel, you can shove your opinion where the sun don't shine. Maybe he has a right...but that doesn't make it any less true.
He doesn't have to forgive Noel for everything that went down. But to single Noel out as one of only two people in the whole world that he has ever fucking met as someone that he is NOT GRATEFUL to for the change in direction that his life took is beyond fucking belief!
After which he puts the heading GRATITUDES
And lists everyone he's ever fucking met! including Meg Mathews ironically. The fact that Noel's ex-wife gets thanked and not Noel is outlandish! Especially since he doesn't write a tribute to anyone elses wives, exes or otherwise!

I've been reading all the comments in this forum and although I haven't read the book yet (I'm buying it next week), I had Tony as a nice person and wasn't too bothered by his possible words against Noel, but this gets to the point of being ridiculous and insanely childish. I changed my mind.

I just lost a lot of respect for Tony, and most certainly will not buy his book. By doing this, he's surely lost a lot of credence as he clearly has a motive of undermining Noel, despite what Bigun wants us to believe.

^I'm sure he'll be gutted to find out you are not buying now. Well it's less money for him, and I doubt I'm the only one to not buy the book after this realization, which means even more money down the drain. Because he did that, it should mean almost everything he's written should practically be discredited. I'd love to see Bigun defend this 'un. What a child. Grow up already.

I had a look at this book today in Waterstones. Looks a decent effort. Hardback edtion retails for £17.99 and there are plenty of black and white photos. I enjoyed the photo from Sheffield Arena 1995 (my 1st Oasis gig, Tony Mc Carroll's last Oasis gig). I only read the introduction. Quite a decent introduction. Definitley going to pour scorn over Noels cheap remarks over the last 15 years. And rightly so. Why should'n't Tony have his say. I'm quite tired of Noel mouthing off about all and sundry. I will buy this next week. Looking forward to reading it.

I've been a fan since August 1994. Travelled all over the world watching Oasis. Met them. Nearly once had a fight with Noel in France. I've been interviewed in 2000 by NME. And the last Oasis album has my name in it. When it comes to Oasis i'm quite capable of making my own opinion. Regardless of what others may say on here. I look forward to Tony's book. I have a feeling it will be similar to the book by Ian Robertson. Quite refreshing. I get bored of Paulo Hewitt's books and all the ass kissing references. About time a book was released from a different angle.

Handbags are out once more I see.
'His (Noel's) songs were simply pieces of brilliance' 'Noel had the drive to take us where we had to go' 'We all had utmost respect for Noel' these are a few of the statements made by Tony in the book. If you ask Tony he will tell you that Noel is a fantastic songwriter and has a rapier wit. He totally accepts that Noel was the driving force. Its easy to single out an article and then scream 'witchhunt'. The ignorant masses normally follow.
Tony has a pop or two at Noel (very few to be honest) and this is mainly during the time when they were at each other's throats.
In the book Tony makes a point which I feel is extremely relevant. He mentions that he is recalling, without doubt, the most important years of his life during which some real fortunate and unfortunate events occured. When Tony speaks of the underhand way that Noel went about his business he is still ill at ease with it. I can't blame him, what Noel did was wrong. Like I have previously stated though he is in no way bitter or angry about it. He has told his story in a truthful way and if the facts don't sit well with you I'm afraid that can't be helped. You are though, as you quite rightly say, entitled to your opinion. Shame it couldn't be a more open minded or light hearted one.
In terms of the article highlighted that has been labelled 'vindictive and childhish' I would like to issue the following statement - 'Shut it you gimp. Noel has routinely lambasted Tony for the last fifteen years. Who's the vindictive child? Noel needs to let go.
And finally can I assure anyone suffering from paranoid delusions out there that I have not set up any fake accounts to air my views. Why would I need to? See a doctor. He'll have tablets.
Yours, on my knees in humility,
BigUn

Good points Bigun. Although you shouldn't need to explain yourself. There are some sound level headed Oasis fans on here (Paul from NYC - Moderator, Mimmi, Jil LA, Rita among a handful of sound UK lads).
Sheffield Arena was my first Oasis gig (i just couldn't get tickets in 94) and as we all know Tony's last gig. But do any of you remember that the Thursday night after Sheffield Arena Tony was on TOTP? Some Might Say, new single. One week later Oasis are back performing said song as it's now number one. Alan White is now on drums. Fucking rough man. But there you go.
Looking forward to the book. I'm bored of Noels cheap comments. I'm surprised when Tony was given the opportunity to dicuss the dvd Definitley Maybe official release he didn't let rip. Mark Coyle, Mani and Noel had their say. A bit of a rum do from where i'm standing.
And i will tell you something else (i'm on a roll here!). How many Oasis fans can play drums? How many can actually say Tony couldn't play the parts on Morning Glory? It's a load of bollocks hyped up over the last 15 years by Noel. Just listen to Bring It On Down, Live Forever, Rock N' Roll Star, Slide Away and Some Might Say.
All the best!
