I am looking forward to the album but Noel's 'Everybody's on the run' that he did in the rio soundcheck? shits all over any Beady Eye song ive heard so far.

Noel admitted he used to consistantly wind Liam up about him going solo and liam used to react and come come out with stuff like that.
Why should Liam and co sit on their backsides waiting for Noel to finish a solo album and tour? 5 years is unacceptable for them obviously and quite reasonably. They couldn't have Beady Eye as a band minus Noel everytime he wanted to go off a do a solo thing and then jump back into Oasis it had to be a clean break, a band needs an identity.
As for Noel, if we are to believe Liam and more specifically Gem then Noel was a bit of twat at the end there.
Why do people in this thread seem to be under the impression that Noel/Oasis were putting out classics over the last 10 years? Did this happen? I don't remember it.

Noel admitted he used to consistantly wind Liam up about him going solo and liam used to react and come come out with stuff like that. This! Noel actually enjoyed winding Liam up with it! He's telling it as some funny story in this interview. He's saying 'Liam was disgusted and offended' by the fact Noel wanted to do a solo album. If I were Liam, and I had to hear it from some journalists all the time, without Noel talking to me about it first, I would be F* pissed too! Seriously, Noel is laughing with it, but I really don't think it's some funny story. It's just rude. EDIT: forgot the inteview It's at 7:15

If it was unacceptable for Liam to give Noel the time he needed to do a project that he really wanted to do then the split is as much Liams fault as Noels...if not more so. Radiohead had 4 years between albums when Thom did his solo effort. It's not that much shorter a time than Noel wanted. Radiohead didn't break up for it. Why the hell did Oasis have to? Noel never said that the other guys had to sit on their backsides for the couple of years that Noel spent recording promoting and touring his album. They are all musicians in their own right. It's not like Noel is the only one capable of working outside of the confines of Oasis. They could do solo albums. Guest on other peoples albums. If they had no ambition to do something new they could have formed a project like BDI and write together...it's not the worst idea. The fact that Liam is insisting that Noel left so he could go solo when it was apparently that Noel didn't want to have to leave Oasis to do his solo effort annoys me. And all the people on the board going along with that statement baffles me!

Liam, Gem, Andy could have done something different, while Noel was doing a solo album. But what if they didn't want to? You're in a band. It's not because 1 person wants to do a solo thing that everyone should just say 'oh well ok, we will all do something different while you do your thing'.
Probably with Radiohead, every member had some plans to do something, and they agreed about it, just like The Killers & Bloc Party right now..

I don't think that BDI have even touched the best of Noel's work on DOYS yet...let alone the past 4 albums. I think that TT, BIU, FD, and TSOTL are all rated a measure above any of the BDI tunes so far. I really like DOYS...if it would have carried the strength of the begining through to the end I would rate it much higher...but if I view Noel's tunes independently of the rest of the album as an EP, I would rate as brilliant. Certainly we can find sub-par Noel tunes that we can point out that BDI haven't sunk to. But the way to defend the value of BDI is not by saying that they aren't as bad as any of Noel's worst tunes. Noel had some duffs over the past 4 albums worth of tunes. So what? I personally think there are only 5 genuinely cringe-worthy tunes that are unargueably worse than even the least of BDI so far over the past 4 albums (PYMWYMI, ICSAL, GOYHHL, PAITM, FON) And only really 1 from the past 2 album...GOYHHL was indeed atrocious. But being better than those is hardly something to scream from the rooftops. So far they haven't been overly impressive. Nothing they have released would have brought the past 4 albums down had they been included...but if any of them had been on the past 4 albums none of them would have been highlights for me either...just very good album tracks. I hope you know that your opinion is based only on the four songs released so far, including the two filler tracks that are probably two of the worst three on the album. Sure, FLW and TR is decent at least, but it doesn't mean that we can criticize BDI for not being better than Noel's best stuff when we've only heard two proper tunes that are not even the highlights but only just very good album tracks. The reason why people are mouthing off about Noel's cringey tunes is obviously because some people literally take in what people are saying about new releases, when they are naturally exaggerated opinions of naturally excited fans who are caring for BDI in a BDI forum. I do see some people defending the band's dignity with illogic, but that isn't supposed to be so strange here in a forum of people who actually care for them. Remember, we still have to listen to the seven latter tracks from For Anyone to The Morning Son. Based on all the snippets and reviews that we've had access to, the highlight of the album will probably be Wigwam and TBGO with KFAD, TRC, TMS and TR just behind. With the exception of WUD, there are only good ones left to hear.

I think Noel said once about the 5 years that during this time every member could release a solo album. Gem and Andy can release an album without help but Liam ?

it's not like they, or anyone has to ask permision to do what they want. releasing solo albums seems to be one part of a bigger problem in Oasis. quite simply, Noel and Liam are two very different people, and obviously don't have a good relationship in any respect.

From Gem's comments, it seems that they have a father-teenager relationship. It is really sad : Liam is almost 40.

ohh.. common.... Beady's music hasnt been any worse that most of the songs from Oasis Heathen Chemistry on... besides couple of album classics by the Chief like The importance of being idle, Stop Crying Your Heart Out ... you cant say to me that you honestly think Mucky Fingers, High Horse piss all over th Roller or Four Letter Word... i think people here are slagging way to much Beady's music. Noel is genius alright,, but most of his power came from his 90's records,,, now he hits the spot in some songs but its not that we are going to get from Beady something way worse than what we've gotten in the past eight from Oasis.. If you think Noel's solo album is going to top 90's Noel or be on that level your going to hit your face to the ground...

Yeah but, having to compare BDI stuff, to some of the worse stuff that Noel has ever written isnt a big win either. BDI still has 9 chances so make a great album.

Why do people in this thread seem to be under the impression that Noel/Oasis were putting out classics over the last 10 years? Did this happen? I don't remember it. I dont think anyone says that they were putting out classics. I think a lot of people have just said that, saying that comparing these 4 songs that BDI has released to the worst songs Noel has ever written and then saying "look, this is proof that they're actually doing pretty good". And no, TT BIU, TSOTL, and FD arent classics, but I'd take them over whats been released to far. Saying that though, the best stiff still has not come out and I think many people should reserve judgement for when it comes out. Instead of this, its gonna be better than this this and this, or its not gonna be good as this this and this.

please, find me 4 "Noel songs" on Dig Out Your Soul that were "brilliant" ... they don't exist. I don't think that BDI have even touched the best of Noel's work on DOYS yet...let alone the past 4 albums. Nothing they have released would have brought the past 4 albums down had they been included...but if any of them had been on the past 4 albums none of them would have been highlights for me either...just very good album tracks. dead. fucking. on. with about 90% of this. New Beady Eye: Not surprising one bit. Take a look at the dozen or so COMBINED efforts from this trio over the last 4 LPs. Half are completely forgettable. 1/4 are servicable. 1/4 are "good". Now, the aforementioned are charged with composing ~12/13 for one album? Duh. Expect the same: half forgettable, 1/4 serviceable, 1/4 "good". The Roller and FLW are fine. But I'd be lying if I said either of them are really "great". And to the daft prick who said "find me 4 brilliant Noel songs on DOYS...that's right, they don't exist": Well, the word "brilliant" gets thrown around FAR too often in the UK for one, but: Bag it Up, The Turning, Waiting FTR, TSOL, and Falling Down are fucking B to A level rock tunes when leveled against just about any standard. Anyone who thinks these 3 stooges can approach Noels prowess is fucking delusional. We'll get a middle-of-the-road pop/rock album from them. And that's just what anyone with a brain should expect. I can live with it.

Can't some of you people just wait until the fucking album comes out/leaks, and you give it a few spins, before making a complete judgment on BDI? Sheesh. Spot on mate. Some songs sometimes need a few spins before they take hold of your head and start to rock it back and forth

How did this drivel from the OP turn into such a lengthy mess of discussions. Normally I like reading everything, but this was even a chore just to skim through!

Go back and see what Liam has been talking about concerning the split and then read my post again. Cheers. i have heard nearly everything liam has said since the split and i cant remember anything nice he has had to say about noel! fair enough he said oasis was great- but he still gets digs in about noel. he might moan about noel being this and that- but if it wasnt for noel oasis would never hadve existed!!! They say ignorance is bliss - I guess it is for you so you can continue to believe in your delusional thoughts. If you paid any attention, you would have seen the interview where Liam genuinely wants Noel's record to be successful. Liam wished him all the best. Now get off your high horse, because I don't need a ride tonight.

This forum is ridiculous. One week, it collectively decides Beady Eye are amazing, and the next, that they are awful. WE HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD THE RECORD. Everyone just chill the fuck out and stop over-analyzing nothing.
