if any of you guys like the xx check out The Weeknd-House of Balloons. Its like creepy, haunting R&B it probably isn't most of yalls cup of tea but its one my favorite records of the year. Really good album. Much better than The xx.

Incubus are still around? Jesus, I remember them from 7th grade with that song Drive, or whatever. Too dreary.

Really good album. Much better than The xx. Its not a proper album. Its a mixtape. Its still very good. Not your traditional R&B thats for sure. Puts shit like Usher to shame.

^Cheers for the info, Mimmi and matt. Cant find any mention of the Moons' 2nd album and Emvrace have just dropped off the face of the Earth, their website is baffling too. Trying to think of my most anticipated ones: NOEL! Arctic Monkeys Miles Kane The Enemy (?) The Zutons (?) Twisted Wheel The Moons Embrace (?) The Law (check 'em out if you havent) Brother Modern faces (hopefully will be doing an album, again check them out ) Steve Cradock Anyone else know of any more due out by similar bands to the ones posted above? Good to see someone else besides me has discovered Modern Faces. I'm from the USA but I've chatted with members from both Modern Faces and The Law...very nice people. Do The Law actually have a new album planned for this year? As for Modern Faces, they still need a label to sign them. The lad from the band that writes the songs still owns them.

Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math They have a puzzle on their homepage and if you solve it, you can stream their whole album a week early. IT'S BRILLIANT! Really one of the best albums I've heard this year, and I've heard loads! www.columbiarecords.com/simplemath/

well I decided to bring this thread back up seeing as we are a little more than half way done with 2011. Gonna try and do some rankings
Best Albums: I'll be listening to for years and are probably up there in terms of my favorite albums of all time. 9-10 range rating wise
---Smith Westerns-Dye It Blonde so many great leads in this one of the best dream pop/rock albums i've heard in a while ---The Weeknd-House of Balloons i just can't get enough of this; the production is amazing, the voice is superb ---The Pains of Being Pure at Heart-Belong I just simply like this more than their good debut Cults-Cults just a nice fun pop album, but its more than just a nice sugar rush i see this album lasting.
-Great Albums: The Raveonettes-Rave In The Grave ---by far the best thing they have ever done Yuck-Yuck Black Lips-Arabia Mountain---- see above Raveonettes Arches-Wide Awake The Sand Band-All Through the Night Fleet Foxes-Helplessness Blues Arctic Monkeys-Suck It And See ----glad to see them back return back to their poppy feel but still have the maturity of humbug. Turner has mastered his crooning skills The Antlers-Burst Apart Mazes-A Thousands Heys
-Good Albums: Elbow-Build A Rocket Boys! -----Dear Friends is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and The Birds is one of the best tracks of the year The Kills-Blood Pressures Alex Turner-Submarine Beady Eye-Different Gear Still Speeding ----to be honest I don't listen to it that much but when I do I'm reminded of how solid of an album it is The Strokes-Angles Wiz Khalifa-Rolling Papers Cut Copy-Zonoscope PJ Harvey-Let England Shake Destroyer-Kaputt ----one of the best produced albums of the year so far Frank Ocean-Nostalgia, Ultra The Decemberists-The King Is Dead Cat's Eyes-Cat's Eyes Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears-Scandalous Austra-Feel It Break My Morning Jacket-Circuital---will admit I expected more but its still a solid album Miles Kane-Colour Of The Trap Noah & the Whale-Last Night On Earth -----not as good as the First Days of Spring, though i doubt they'll ever top it but this was the perfect album to come right after it The Rosebuds-Loud Planes Fly Low Oh Land-Oh Land
-Albums that left me disappointed/average Radiohead-King of Limbs -----come on Radiohead we know you can do better than this its 1/2 good 1/2 shit and the newspaper thing is just so pointless Cage the Elephant-Thank You Happy Birthday Memphis-Here Comes The City James Blake-James Blake----I don't understand any of the hype Tyler the Creator-Goblin-----see above and Earl is such a better rapper anyway Tune-Yards- w h o k i l l The Vaccines - What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? Architecture In Helsinki-Moment Bends
Albums that are still yet to be judged Gil Scott-Heron And Jamie XX-We're New Here Iron & Wine-Kiss Each Other Clean Bon Iver-Bon Iver, Bon Iver Wild Beasts-Smoother
It may seem that I rate albums easily but to be honest this has just be a great year for me personally musically. I haven't be that disappointed by bands that I love and some bands that I just generally like have released their best material yet.

Listening to Washed Out's Within and Without, great stuff! Some may say it's chillwave, but I hate that term. The new Fleet Foxes and Decemberists made me want to gouge my eyes out; they weren't bad, just incredibly boring. GIVERS released a fantastic debut album. It's a bit overwhelming for one listen but, individually, each track is pretty strong. Kaputt by Destroyer has been getting a lot of plays, great music for flying/traveling. I'm not as up to date as I'd like to be with modern music! I'm just waiting on Eleanor Friedberger and The Horrors next month!

Bon Iver is brilliant. It's gotta be one of the greatest albums 2011 for me.
I'm loving "A Thousand Heys" by Mazes too. I'm seeing them in Paradiso in September on the Fatcat Records Tour together with The Twilight Sad (one of my most favourite bands!) and We Were Promised Jetpacks.
The Crookes made a feel good Summer album for their debut and live was good. I'm curious how they'll make their second one.
Miles Kane's solo debut was really good as well. and "Suck It And See" is one of my 2011 favourite too.
Different Gear, Still Speeding has been on my mp3 discman much much often than DOYS.
I've been waiting for new Cat Power album for a couple of years now. C'mon Chan!
