Noise and confusion is the title of an oasis bootleg This song is brilliant, sounds like the love child of Columbia and The Hindu Times. Can hear a bit of hurricane #1 in here too, guess that'll be andy. Seriously, amazing song and already my favourite of the year ;D

Seriously, amazing song and already my favourite of the year ;D well it was the main title of the Noise & Confusion tour in 2001 along with the promo vinyl that accompanied it. Maybe this SOTS cover has been hanging around since then? and that's where they got that title form???

Didn't it say 'Get you, Get me standing on the edge of noise'? Or something like that? Still sounds like a little bit of lyrics to me.

when Liam is singing " out of our minds on the stage " - is it Liams voice overdubbed OR is there a backing vocal in there from Gem or Andy?

The more I listen to this, the more I realise how fucking awful the song actually is. Liam must have really bad taste. I wouldn't even get to about a quarter of the way through this song if anyone else was covering it. Of all the songs in the world they could've covered they chose this abomination.

Good choice of cover - they could been unambitious and gone for a predictable band but fair play to them. The cover itself is fantastic.

I like it; real attitude! Catchy like Bring The Light but with a lot more style and care added to proceedings. It takes the original and pumps it with a rock depth charge. I like the guitar stings by Andy (I presume) and that organ gives a touch of cool. I didn't mind World of Twist's original- a slightly dated sound but the hedonistic lyrics were made for Liam and he excels here. His voice seems to have been touched up a little with echo FX but he sounds powerful and clear.
Like many have said, it's slightly disconcerting that a cover is better than the A-side. Some have said that Bring The Light, since it was a free download, couldn't be indicative of their best work. Conversely, should they not be releasing one of their best first to garner interest and stamp their cred?
I had a look at that 'Gold and Silver and Sunshine' dvd the other day on which Andy says of Liam as a songwriter, 'he doesn't know how good he is'. How many of us honestly believe that since a) Liam is never short on egomaniacal self praise and b) he doesn't know how average a great many of his songs actually have been. On the same documentary, you hear Liam musing enthusiastically about 'Ain't Got Nothin'; arguably the worst Oasis studio album track of them all. I think BTL is at least a step up from that...

Some have said that Bring The Light, since it was a free download, couldn't be indicative of their best work. Conversely, should they not be releasing one of their best first to garner interest and stamp their cred? Exactly, thats the big big question and we'll find out next year. Did they release a 'sampler' as an indication of their new type of sound as a taster ? Is it like a game of cards where you might not show your best hand straight away ? Part of me thought they would release a quality track to get everyone onside, but on the other hand if it was a corker i cant believe they would release it for free (and it couldnt chart). I'm beginning to think it was a taster to keep us happy (Not that it worked for everyone !) and drum up publicity etc before the album comes out. I'm hoping Bring the light is a 'Hey Now' type of song, a bit filler/not bad but not the best single. I'm not expecting to like every single song on this new album but i'll be happy as hell if half of them i really enjoy. Its exciting there'll be 11-12 new tracks on it, cant wait to hear them for the first time, nervous though !

Turns out Standing On The Edge of The Noise IS a song title, i posted it in the 'Q feature' thread in the In The Press section. Not sure whether 'Get You, Get Me' is another song, it's not mentioned in the article. I think it could be part of the lyrics to Standing On The Edge Of The Noise...

Decent tune, though I don't think it will stand the test of time due to the lack of a catchy chorus. Will sound great live though!
7/10

It reminds me a little of Oasis with lashing of The Stone Roses too.
I am a big fan of the track though, love the energy and aggression in it.

Two thoughts on SOTS:
1. I love it. I'm a fan of covers as b-sides and this one is a great one-- Liam sounds great, the lyrics are a love song for people who love live music-- nice guitar.
2. This is the first time, in the very short Beady Eye experiment, that I could say Noel is clearly missed on this track. Think of how great Noel's trademark backing vocals would be on this line, "Out of our minds on the stage..." I found myself waiting for it the first few times I listened.
