Now that Oasis is no more or seriously impaired, everybody has his say about who is the biggest rock band now. A few contenders are lining up, vote your hearts out!

My Favourite Kasabian, biggest Muse

Coldplay and u2 are the biggest. I hear Coldplay more than any other band on here on the radio. KOL are picking up pace. Kasabian still hasn't cracked America but I know a lot of you don't care about that. Muse is big but they are a good step from the Big Boys but getting number 1 in 16 countries is impressive. Radiohead is big but I never hear their music around and it seems like they just got a lot of press because of the in rainbows deal.

What criteria to people use when determining the biggest band?
Tour size? Album sales? Radio plays?

Coldplay, they are the next U2, VLV was their Unforgetable Fire, the next one will be their Joshua Tree.

None of them. If those bands haven't caught on by now (and by "caught on" I mean be a generation defining band like Oasis were) then they will never.
We're still waiting, and we'll be waiting awhile yet.

It's not an option, but I'ma throw Oasis in the mix. When the get back together, they will be the biggest again.

Oasis weren't the biggest by the time they split
and hadn't been for like 12 years

I mean right now a little mix of album sales, concerts and touring, radio plays and following. I don't mean your fave band.
As for Oasis, Mogly is right.

It's either Coldplay or Muse, though I'd like it to be Kasabian (from that list, at least). I'd like to see where Coldplay go next, despite not really liking VLV, I want to see if they'll really go the same way as their idols or try to grab the commercial spot-light again.
However, out of the bands listed, only Radiohead and U2 have written and released songs that would warrant such a title.

You can probably discard Coldplay from this list on the basis that they are already the biggest band in the world, and as such cannot become the next biggest band in the world. That's between Muse and Kings Of Leon.

Give me a fucking break.

Coldplay the biggest band in the world? Viva La Vida went to number one in 36 countries, was the best-selling album of last year, and has sold over 8 million copies to date. And that's before you get to their supporting tour, which will have sold almost 3m tickets worldwide by the time it concludes next spring. The commercial response to No Line On The Horizon pales in comparison, and U2's box office score, whilst also impressive, has undeniably been propped up by the addition of a crass gimmick that's costing them nearly £500k a day to run. They ought to be maligned for the sheer pomposity of the fucking thing.

You're the sort who has heard Viva La Vida and Speed of Sound on the radio and gone 'yep, they're shit' without giving their records a chance. I'm no fan of their really mainstream stuff, but it's when you get to the real gold, songs like Amsterdam, Politik and Cemetries of London that makes me think 'what a brilliant band'. It really pains me when people hate them just because they're uncool and I seriously don't know what Chris Martin has done wrong when at the end of the day, he's just a decent guy. If Noel Gallagher had wrote A Rush Of Blood To The Head (the song) you would probably cream yourself.

He used to praise the first two albums. Then Coldplay made the mistake of becoming bigger than Oasis, and he decided that he didn't like them anymore.
