Trouble is we dont have a massive load of players to choose from thanks to people like Wenger who are quite happy to play an entire squad of non English players. There just isnt enough English talent coming through the ranks. That isn't Arsene Wenger's fault. If clubs like Arsenal are looking elsewhere then it's because there's comparatively little homegrown talent to choose from. And that's the same reason our national team coach is an Italian. The buck stops with the FA on this one.

It's a circle, which can be broken if you give the youth a chance. The English clubs have loads of money, they don't have to train talent because they can buy everything they want without worrying about finance.

I'm not saying its his fault exactly but you can hardly call the premiership an English football league can ya. If there was a ruling about foreign players then these clubs will have to invest in training homegrown talent. Its a lazy league and becomes less interesting for me every season. There is talent in this country but it is simply overlooked becasuse football is a business not a sport.

let me say something: the ref screwed up a call for england, but they were outplayed by a better team. the way they were playing, they were going to lose anyway. it's not the ref's fault england lost yesterday. Fábio Coentrão FTW. That is all I have to say about this matter. This. Fuck Ronaldo. which one?

I'm usually confident before matches and very pissed off after them. Once again I'm confident. Just want a victory with the team playing well! Is this too much to ask? Fuck

Why England always appoints foreign club coaches is beyond me. The FA appoints these foreign coaches only because of the fact that they coached big clubs, which is something entirely different than coaching a national team. Further more, you need someone who understands the English culture and, more importantly, someone who can actually SPEAK ENGLISH. Of course, there's the McClaren debacle, but England (as a football nation!) having a foreign coach is an embarrassment in itself. With all respect to African countries, but England is not some obscure African nation which is in need of football know-how! I was thinking about this the other day. Ideally, I would want the national coach to be of the same nationality. But you can't do that (make it an official rule) as that's discrimination. Anyway, being a foreign manager of a national team is not the problem. I think we have to look deeper and examine the players. My guess is they're burnt out after a long season (where many of those players play 50-60 matches!)

There just isnt enough English talent coming through the ranks. That's a misconception, one that proves the idiot Sepp Blatter wrong once again. Pick up the book Soccernomics, it discusses this concept. On the contrary, it's more beneficial for English players to be playing abroad!

Burnt out NHL players show up year after year at the worlds and Olympics and deliver outstanding performances.

If so, the players, for the most part, will be equally burnt out which would negate the effect.....

I doubt you'd say that if you'd seen how well NHL players perform in the playoffs, even after an 82-game season. And there's no deteriation in quality; quite the opposite. If the playing field is levelled, it's not because players are equally burnt out, but because of their commitment to the cause.

Brazil's in a league of its own. It's going to be very hard to score against them. Both N. Korea and Ivory Coast scored when the match was already over and Brazil had stopped trying.
Nice run for Chile. They should've done a better job against Spain, they could've had a better chance against Portugal.
Mimmi, I honestly don't think Holland has a chance. These guys are too much. A weird match might come along and they might be defeated, but if logic stands, Brazil will take the whole thing.
