If you think The mother-fucking Enemy are one of the few great bands of this decade, you need to listen to more music man and I don't mean the radio.

Oasis were a "product", all the infighting and that was sold as part of the rock n roll lifestyle they live. THey were sold as bad boys, still are at times. They just have great tunes to back it up.
As for listenable bands: The Doves are good, I liked kingdom of rust

the music is being made your just not listening to it. there is no music to match?...unless you consider skinny jeans anorexic indie fuck faced snob bands as the next big thing, in which case I pitty you. A new manchester band who have that kick that Oasis have, Twisted wheel. their great! Glasvegas are dodge live and generally unmelodic, BRMC are rocking but not accessible to a mainstream audience like Oasis were when they began, therefore they fail. Theres noone who has that epic sound. All the mainstream bands that do well for them selves get snapped up by shit head producers who like Hip-Hop R n B, Indie, and rythm sections created from "clap clap" simulators. Its hopeless..... and sometimes, when i look at all these new bands, its so easy to see how theyre doing it wrong and how to do it better. It seems so easy somes times.

If you look past all the press crap the libertines might be worth a look into.
Either way, give me a few months and I'll be making music which will top what is in that list.

There are many many many talented bands out there but they aren't popular. What he is talking about is a band that is talented, has a long and substantive career, famous around the world, makes the news, has platinum-selling albums, numerous number 1 and top ten singles, and sells out world tours 15 years after their debut album. Also, a band that is PRESENT - in the headlines, is a sensation in the media etc Suggestion: the Libertines or anything with Pete Doherty

I love the Libertines and I quite like Pete Doherty, but without Carl Barat, I don't see him selling out world tours in 2016.
Maybe, just maybe.

Hell, even a reunited Libertines wouldn't be selling out world tours in 2016.

I think a band like them comes only once in 10 years or longer. I can't say what you have to do to find "good" music, jamadinho cos it's not what you read in your school book. Open your eyes and ears, look around, don't listen to the radio (although I do listen to BBC radio 1 and 6music is even better than radio 1 these days). Maybe you can look around on the RocknRoll star section of this forum cos I'm sure you can find many bands/singers you've never heard before.

i think the foo fighters are pretty close to being the biggest rock act in the world. they sell out every single tour, their albums win grammy's and are fantastic. i put them up there with oasis.

That's why I decided, enough is enough, and picked up a guitar and decided to write my own tunes to take over the world.

People have a way of overrating Oasis on this board. Yes, I love them, they're my favourite band ever and I'd jump in front of a bullet to save Noels life, but I'm not too blind to tell that other bands have come (and gone) which have been/are more succesfull. Take That were bigger than Oasis in the '90s just to give an example.

I think it's all a kind of cycle. Perhaps the Obama generation will expect more from their pop music than the kids who grew up with Bush and now support the crap on the radio.

Modern music is terrible but once you've explored Oasis just... do what every sensible fucker does and go on a psychedelic trip to 1967... you may never return.
