She's A Weapon is the only decent one on the record. And even that's laughable. Whoever produced this record managed to make this terrible band sound half-decent, how I have no idea.

Before we get hugely off-topic and have to move this to another section:
Let's talk about 2 things here:
First of all - radio. I don't know what commercial radio is like in your country but if it is anything like what it is in Canada then it's terrible straight up. It's about making money so there are mounds of advertising and they play the most commercially successful stuff.
If that is the case, then why would you listen to the radio to find "good" music? Well, you shouldn't because you are only going to find what is popular. My recommendation is that you use the internet or this forum, as Mimmi has suggested. In Canada listen to CBC Radio 1 or CBC Radio 3 if you want to hear fine new Canadian music. There is a lot of great stuff out there, the problem is that it is so hard to find because the market is hypersaturated.
Secondly, let's not go on a tirade about things that are SUBJECTIVE on this thread. Let's talk objectively about popularity and try to leave out opinions about music.

Actually I only saw Them on TV the other night, the lead singer reminded me of Liam and Noel Moulded together. I never thought Liam had the time for a small band like that.

and sometimes, when i look at all these new bands, its so easy to see how theyre doing it wrong and how to do it better. It seems so easy somes times. poor spelling aside, if you can do it better then why don't you? Surely you aren't content with being who you are now, cause who you are now is pathetic. Im really confused why you felt offended by my comments? Let alone why you claim that I amnt comfortable who I am? Wow, where did that come from. Im young and ambitious. Not saying that i have the capacity, but sometimes Noel does make it look so easy. Dont think we can argue with that....

Listen to Kings of Leon's first album 'Youth and Young Manhood' (2003?) Absoloutly fantastic, pure rock n' roll. Pity their most recent album went in the wrong direction and they know suck.

or a FORUM could be used for what is intended to do discuss music and give opinions on it Right .... well, I'm not saying we can't have subjective debates about music, but when this thread is entitled WILL THERE EVER BE A BAND LIKE OASIS AGAIN then we are massively off-topic and arguing about whether or not somoene is good, not whether or not any band can or will be as good as Oasis. I thought my post was on-topic and I did not mean to tell everyone to stop arguing, I just thought that if we are going to be talking about other bands then that shouldn't be in Facts and Fiction, that's all

I just think your pathetic. It's from the general gist of your comments and the implied comparrision to Noel, which is beyond ludacris. What I will say is that judging by the way you use this message board you do not have an individual enough personality, like the others here who pretend to be exactly like Noel and Liam, to make it big. Oasis are amazing because they are a band fully comfortable in their skin and completely contented with being themselves, thats why they hit it big. People can relate to that. You on the other hand are nothing more than a fool who acts like Liam and/or Noel to cover some insecurity you have in your own self.

JET are fantastic as well. They supported Oasis on their 2005 tour. They sound like a cross between AC/DC and Oasis, and are releasing a new album later this year.

Twisted Wheel are shit and from what i've heard of the enemy they sound like shit also. Both of their frontment wanna be Liam and the use all the correct words "shine" and such but the both lack Noel's tunes, Liam's frontman skills, the passion and the pure rawness that Oasis have. All (most) these bands are trying to copy oasis end up sounding like shit cover bands who lack originality and are trying to recreate a band that is still the best at what they do.

Going back to the original post I know exactly what youre on about - im 18 and i get angry any time i watch the top 40 - especially here in New Zealand, utter nonsense. Having said that there are great bands out there, i can only say the bands that im into and maybe you'll like them too. Oasis are by far my favourite band so we might have similar taste. I really enjoy BRMC but stay away from "the effects of 333" record its ambient abstract static-ey weirdness get their Baby 81 record and if you like that they've got 2 others i believe. At the moment im also really into Band of Horses - maybe not to everyones taste but i enjoy them espicially in the mornings for some reason, theyve got 2 records out - "Cease to Begin" and "Everything All The Time". I think their lead singer is one of the best vocalists ive ever heard. The enemy and Twisted wheel are (in my opinion) high energy but pretty empty bands, they dont really leave you with a sence of "im gunna listen to this again" but theyre sorta punky n fast so if youre into that you might wanna go that way. The Manic Street Preachers are ace, especially their latest album "Send Away The Tigers" its really good and i really recommend it. Theres also The Verve and Richard Ashcrofts stuff which is good. Arctic Monkeys im sure youre aware of. For me the only band that comes close to oasis in the modern day is Kasabian though. This just seems like a rant about stuff I like but i hope it helps the original poster in some way and at the very least you might get some new tunes in your head. I know it seems unfair being a fan of real music this decade as the charts are dominated by the Chris Browns and Ne-yos of this world but dont give up, theres plenty of amazing bands out there!

I totally hear you and I'm glad we're back on topic. I think that the issue here isn't any specific bands and more the state of the music industry. I mean, before it seems like it was easier for bands to have a hegemony and to keep building off momentum. I think that it may have a lot to do with the listener these days. With youtube, satellite radio, downloading etc we have the ability to hear MORE bands, more songs, more albums. It's saturated like crazy and it's very very difficult for bands to get out there. I mean, how hard is it to get a record deal now? IMPOSSIBLE! New bands come out these days and release their records as independents and cannot really promote themselves the way a record deal normally would. The result is that bands have a hell of a time getting out there. And the ones that get out aren't necessarily the good ones, they are just the most persistent.....

People have a way of overrating Oasis on this board. Yes, I love them, they're my favourite band ever and I'd jump in front of a bullet to save Noels life, but I'm not too blind to tell that other bands have come (and gone) which have been/are more succesfull. Take That were bigger than Oasis in the '90s just to give an example. Are you taking the p*ss ? Boyzone might sell millions of records but i would never rate them as a proper band etc ! Come on ! Didnt Robson and Jerome keep Wonderwall from being #1 ? Does that make R&J's song better ? Course not. Oasis were the 90's, britpop was huge, it was a great time in music seeing so many guitar bands in the top 20. I'm still into Oasis/Stone Roses/Charlatans/Verve but theres hardly any bands i feel a connection/enjoy as much for quite a long time. Its not me getting older and being a grumpy old man, just to me theres nothing decent which lasts a long time. Artic Monkeys shot out and looked superb but i thought their last album they went downhill, now got the tricky 3rd one to produce.
