As we all know Liverpool are the most successful side in England with 18 League titles 5 European cups. Man. United are just one behind with 17 League titles and 2 behind in Europe. Will United make it 18 this season? (I'll through myself off a bridge if they do) Or will The Kop cop on and make it 19?

Which bridge?
Oh, and for clarity - you don't have a cat in hell's chance of winning the league, pal. Same as last year. And the year before. And the year before. Liverpool talk a good game, but they're just not consistent enough, and they simply haven't got the bottle to keep pace with the likes of United and Chelsea over the course of 38 games.
I'll sum up Liverpool's biggest problem in two words: rotation policy.

And he might as well not be there next season as his heart won't be in it. And our chances have gone up (with the signing of Keane and Torres likely to be top scorer) where as MU's has gone down. And Fergie is losing his touch. Why is he trying to land Berbatov when he needs an out 'n' out striker? I can just see it Tevez, Rooney and Berb bumping into each-other like headless chickens and Nani-goat out the wing with Ronaldo sulking on th bench. ............no offence. We will always be the most successful side!!

We will always be the most successful side!! We're not the team playing catch-up, mate. Give it ten years, tops. And it's probably better you don't lecture us United fans on honesty, as you're so clearly full of shit. Cristiano Ronaldo's own words. Miss them, did you? Even without Ronaldo, there's still the small matter of: The best defence in European football. The strongest midfield in European football. The best manager in the world. Full-stop. Our strikeforce. Headless chickens? nl.youtube.com/watch?v=9e1i1b5aeXIOh, and if you think Fergie's missed a trick in attempting to improve said strikeforce with a 25-goal a season centre-forward, then you're a fucking idiot.

Torres is a good player, but he's not on Ronaldo's level - yet.
He needs to improve his form away from home, for a start. And he needs to learn how to play more effectively against certain centre halves. For example: Ferdinand and Vidic marked him out of both United-Liverpool games last season, and he was completely ineffective.
At Old Trafford he even got so wound up that he came within a whisker of getting himself sent off.

He got booked at OT for getting kicked about. Simple as, probably one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

I've never seen such biased refereeing in my life, even at Old Trafford where referee bias towards Man Utd occurs on almost a weekly basis. Torres was ineffective against Ferdinand and Vidic because he was totally isolated. Few strikers however good they are can take on two world class centre halves on their own. Liverpool in general have been too cautious against Man Utd at both Anfield and Old Trafford under Rafa. If we have a go at Man Utd, then watch Torres play much better against either Vidic or Ferdinand while Keane/Gerrard occupies the other CB. Liverpool havent played many good games against Man Utd under Rafa. Torres is just as good as Ronaldo IMO. As a human being he is 1000% times classier than that slimeball Ronaldo. As a player, all of his 33 goals were in open play whereas at least 5-10 of Ronaldo's goals were free kicks or pens. Torres has also proved himself in the big games as he has scored against Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter, Everton, Spurs and obviously in the Euro 2008 final. He cannot be blamed for not scoring against Man Utd as the whole team has usually underperformed in those games, including Stevie G- whose gonna call him a small time player? I see Chelsea as champs, with Man Utd 2nd and us 3rd with Arsenal in 4th. Man Utd can win the title if Rooney gets back on track after two seasons where he has scored goals but underperformed, and Tevez scores more than last year, because without Ronaldo they lose the greatest trampler of lesser teams in PL history.

The Torres away form is a myth (as shown today). A single swallow doth not a summer make. I've never seen such biased refereeing in my life, even at Old Trafford where referee bias towards Man Utd occurs on almost a weekly basis. That comment has no foundation whatsoever. It's a typical go-to anti-United argument - right up there alongside 'your supporters are all from Lan-dan' and 'they play until United score'. That aside, so-called 'biased' refereeing is little more than an excuse made by any man who's afraid to admit that his team were completely outclassed. And that 'slimeball' comment is really neither here nor there. I do agree with one or two of the points you've made, however. Bear in mind I'm not saying that Torres isn't capable of reaching Ronaldo's level - just that there are certain facets to his game which require some improvement - particularly the aforementioned away form. And while I accept that most centre-forwards will struggle against Ferdinand and Vidic, it doesn't make their job impossible - take for example Obafemi Martins. In today's game he caused his fair share of problems, and got onto the scoresheet in the process - all whilst operating as a lone centre-forward. It's do-able. Oh, and last but not least - whilst Ronaldo may score a number of goals from set pieces, they themselves are not without merit, and should not be disregarded on that basis. Last season his free kicks against Portsmouth, Bolton, and Sporting Lisbon were up there with 98% of the goals you'll see scored in open play.

You my friend are very childish for blaming a referee for everything, you should grow up. It's people like you we are trying to get out of football. You are a complete and utter clown mate. A total muppet. The refereeing was a joke that day. I'm not blaming Bennett completely as we played very poorly and would have lost anyway, but to this day no-one has a proper reason as to why Torres was booked. Mascherano acted like an idiot but I saw other players getting away with swearing and hounding the referee in games afterwards with no consequences. I'm so used to losing against Man Utd that I freely admit we just arent good enough, but that game was definitely ruined by poor refereeing. I vividly remember Carrick cynically scything Torres down in the 2nd half and a card wasnt given. Just a total joke.

Torres was booked for dissent. Whether or not that was entirely justifiable is arguable; either way, his foul on Vidic second-half could well have earnt him a straight red had Mascherano not already been sent off. So Bennett showed a degree of leniency in that respect. I'm struggling to recollect any Carrick incident, though. I'm not saying it didn't happen - I just don't remember it, so I'm loath to comment on it.
Either way, you certainly shouldn't argue that Bennett's refereeing 'ruined' the game. The turning point was undoubtedly Mascherano's red card, and in light of his actions on the pitch that day Steve Bennett was left with very little choice but to send him off. He acted correctly, and punished Mascherano to the extent of the law.
He shouldn't be blamed for the inefficiency and inconsistency of subsequent Premier League referreeing.

Last season his free kicks against Portsmouth, Bolton, and Sporting Lisbon were up there with 98% of the goals you'll see scored in open play. As I said above, I never claimed that Bennett cost us the match, rather that he made some stupid decisions that all went Man Utd's way. Members from the time I posted here regularly know that I can freely admit to my team being outclassed, no matter how difficult. The Ronaldo "slimeball" comment is "here". Have you forgotten how he treated you this summer? Have you forgotten he backed the even bigger idiot Sepp Blatter's comment about football and slavery? Could you imagine a true Utd great like Giggs, Scholes, Keane or Solksjaer saying that? Then there is his diving, playacting, preening puppy dog face at the ref when he gets a fair but tough challenge. So yes, he is a slimeball. Even his choice of women show you that. Ronaldo himself is a player who can still improve too. Lionel Messi is often compared to him and is prefered by many as he has more intelligence and makes better decisions than Ronaldo. I agree that Ronaldo's free-kicks count as open goals but he still scored 5-7 pens last season. Take that from his tally of 42 and he's got only a few more than Torres, despite playing in a far superior team who create a lot more during a match. Ronaldo is a super player. I'd have him in my team for his ability, but there is plenty that he needs to sort out, especially his behaviour on the pitch. Your "A single swallow doth not a summer make" can be used to describe Ferdinand and Vidic today. One striker coming up against those two and winning the battle is possible, as is almost anything, but it is not the norm. Are your CB's more likely to play better against Newcastle on the first day of the season while still playing themselves into match fitness or against the only team with more trophies historically than they have, with a rivalry that goes further than football? All defenders raise their games higher against the big teams because they have to, so expect Rio and Vidic to be far harder to take apart when they play Liverpool on 13 September. But at least your are a Man Utd fan that can have some constructive conversation.
