YES YES YES Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce... best shows I've ever seen, greatest songwriter of all time In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway american dream At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines Sprung from cages out on highway 9, Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin out over the line Baby this town rips the bones from your back Its a death trap, its a suicide rap We gotta get out while were young `cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend I want to guard your dreams and visions Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims And strap your hands across my engines Together we could break this trap Well run till we drop, baby well never go back Will you walk with me out on the wire `cause baby Im just a scared and lonely rider But I gotta find out how it feels I want to know if love is wild, girl I want to know if love is real Beyond the palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors And the boys try to look so hard The amusement park rises bold and stark Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist I wanna die with you wendy on the streets tonight In an everlasting kiss The highways jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive Everybodys out on the run tonight but theres no place left to hide Together wendy well live with the sadness Ill love you with all the madness in my soul Someday girl I dont know when were gonna get to that place Where we really want to go and well walk in the sun But till then tramps like us baby we were born to run

i think we should get back on topic Amen!! I got in from work, saw this thread had reached 10 pages and it was only 5 when I last saw it , thought "awh great, there must be new info in here from the riddler!", and then proceeded to scroll through 5 pages of crap about whose bigger between Oasis, Coldplay and Billy Ray Cyrus (!!!) , in the hope that I'd find even a snippet of relevant info.

Here's yet another paradox for you all to explain How is Miley bigger than Oasis, but more people care about Oasis than her? You keep creating these exceptions - bigger doesn't mean better, etc...I guess bigger doesn't mean caring then either? So if you're a "big" band but no one cares about you, what are you left with exactly? (Read: If you're Miley Cyrus and get the odd radio hit more than Oasis, but people actually care about Oasis going to their concerts, etc then how exactly can Miley be considered bigger? How can she be bigger if she's less cared about?) *Note, Miley is just being used an example here. You're wrong though. It's just a different demographic that is INSANE for her. Trust me, I don't get it either...and to be honest, it makes me fuckin sick what music has become with this shit. But that being said, she is talked about SOOOOOOOOO fucking much that yes shes bigger than Oasis. And her song is/was #1 on iTunes...Unfortunately, our boys can't say things like that. Foo Fighters can, Coldplay can...THAT is how you define what big is. Ya just gotta let it roll off your back. It sucks...nothing we can do about it

He gives sooo much energy on stage. His last show in Paris, at the end of june, was 2 H 50 long... BRILLANT...

It sucks...nothing we can do about it It's still incredibly paradoxical....on so many levels. No matter what Oasis does, people like Miley and Rhianna, and all those idiots will still top the charts, it's just the times we're in. But Oasis will still get world wide acclaim. They will still sell out gigs to thousands and thousands of people. I'm not arguing on a marketing basis - of course Miley et al are being on a MARKETING LEVEL But as far as consistency, fan base, loyalty, and relevance are concerned, Oasis are bigger. With all these pop stars, its just a fad until other equally crap pop stars replace them. Backstreet Boys: Fad. Britney Spears: Fad. Fall Out Boy: Fad....Miley Cyrus will be no different, same with Rhianna, etc While look at Oasis, ok of course they arent at their peak of the mid 90s anymore, but are still going VERY strong 14 years later....if you're not a big band, you wouldn't be this relevant over a decade later. The average American is a sucker for a catchy tune. It doesn't make sense how a one-hit-wonder (Miley)gger than a band thats cranking out quality tunes at a good rate (Oasis)....

Once again, you're confusing BIGGER with BETTER. Yes, because she is marketing like that, she is BIGGER. No she won't last...you're right none of them do. Although the Backstreet Boys still sell out tours and put out new albums to correct one thing. But you know why they're not talked about anymore? Because they're not marketed like that anymore. And unfortunately that crazy headcase Britney Spears is still bigger than Oasis. Her garbage is played ALL the time and she is talked about ALL the time. Once again, it sucks ass...but they are BIGGER, but no they will never ever even come close to being as timeless as Oasis. Oasis will be timeless...just like The Beatles, the Who, Stones, etc...but it's a different world. That great music is just not mainstream anymore.

But surely makes Oasis bigger? Fine, I'll concede this point - as we stand now Miley is technically bigger than Oasis - but as we've both said, Oasis will be legendary and remebered long after they call it a day - Miley wont be. So overall, Oasis are a bigger band - no matter if Miley sells more records than Oasis somehow, because Oasis will indeed be timeless, and that means much more than an arbitrary sales figure, surely....?

This is the last response for me on this. Listen closely, the BETTER bands will be remembered. The BIGGER (popular/mainstream) are the ones who are BIGGER now. Make sense? Too bad

Half the members; dead, Split up, No huge amount of re-releases...

look people the time for Oasis being the "biggest band in the world" has sailed and will probably never come back again. get over it. They had a point where not only they were the best but also the biggest on earth. I remember the Live Forever movie one guy (about Knebworth and such) something like this "here they were. The biggest band in the world playing. and for once the biggest band in the world was also the best band in the world". That sums it up. Oasis's time in the sun was from 1994-1998 worldwide. It might have been short but they are probably one of the quickest bands to gain that support and to get that much of it. Every band has a point where they get big. For some its a one hit wonder for others its an album or two. Oasis isn't the biggest band in the world anymore. The backlash from BHN and the wait for the dull SOTSOG (which i love that album) killed a lot of their popularity (at least in the states). Of course the seeds could have been sown before that because of their "rock n roll" attitude and them bashing on Media (MTV and such) and the US media just wouldn't let them stay on top. its a shame. But still they are one of the most attend live bands in the world and they have a relatively strong follow outside the US (which they are somewhat a cult band) and we fans should enjoy that fact that they still have this strong following and still make quality albums. Even though Oasis isn't the biggest band in the world anymore (Coldplay, U2, Radiohead, ect) they are still one of the best (of course i'm biased). And though they might not be the biggest right now very few bands achieve what they did at their peak and we should enjoy that fact that though there are other bands that are bigger right now they probably won't surpass what Oasis did in there peak.

Its hard to put the finger on what separates Oasis from the rest. But Oasis have always been GREAT. Luckily for them, success came their way also and they became the most successfull rocknroll band of the decade. But success not only made them bigger, but greater aswell, and they never left that behind, they never lost it, the millions of records only helped them confirm what they believed in. And once the lighst were out, the only thing that remained was their greatness, thats why they are and always will be Oasis, if not the only great band alive, the greatest. With todays standards and all the rest of...'whatever', there are many big bands and many succesful bands, some are talented, some are shit and some are hit makers but none are great.
