To me Cobains songwrting is exactly the same as Noels - both know how to write great hooks and melodies.
Heart Shaped Box has gotta be one of my favourite songs ever man. Great fucking video for it too.

ya nirvana was great, everyone agrees with that. What people don't like is Cobain worshipers and the weirdness of them.
And I like some cheesy stuff too. The Backstreet Boys' "Incomplete" is friggin sweet!

I find Nirvana incredibly overrated, but they were an okay band nonetheless. I like some of their underrated tunes, none of the big ones impressive me save Heart Shaped Box.

me, i fucking loved nirvana. they played belfast two years before they became big in a shitty student union bar. respect.
their music was what was needed after years of bland shit and then oasis arrived.
not one, but two of the greatest rock bands of all time.
i think kurt was a tosser who had nothing to complain about but that cat could lay down some blistering rock n roll.
remember the god that is t-tex kids.

Nirvana's finest moments aren't the ones people talk about.
I could name ten Nirvana songs better than Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I was at some shitty pub in Glasgow having a pint, a horrible tacky post war building built on the cheap due to the Blitz - a dank pit pretty much, when one of my mates mentioned Nirvana had played there.
Couldn't believe it - suddenly such a cess pit became one of great wonder. That is what this band can do.

Brilliant band, went through my Nirvana phase a few years back.
The Man Who Sold The World at MTV Unplugged is my favourite song of theirs (yes I know its a Bowie cover!).
All Apologies, Lithium, Heart-Shaped Box and Territorial Pissings are a few of my other favourites.

Just listened to Nevermind the other night. Forgot what a terrific album it is. Really enjoying In Bloom, Lounge Act, Stay Away especially this time.

I have never encountered anyone who said they disliked Nirvana. Never thought about it until I read this thread. I've met plenty of people who dislike the Beatles or the Stones or the Clash or whoever. But I've never heard anyone say a bad word about Nirvana, which is pretty special. They might be the only band I can say that about.
