But seriously though, hat's off to Sheik Mansour. It's not easy building a squad like this one, but he managed to find players from all over the world who under the leadership of the previously unknown Pep Guardiola really turned into a proper team.
Football really is the sport where anyone can win, who would have thought Manchester City of all clubs would ever win the Champions League just 15 years ago? Wow, I'm feeling such excitement for the future!

Such a non-event, nobody cares. Think most football fans are fed up with this farce now. They can move the entire knockout stages to Saudi Arabia and enough fans will watch and fill the seats. It's just an acceptance of the fact that not that many people give a fuck, and the rest of us are a minority who they can just choose to roll over.

If you want the ultimate proof that there is no God, today Henry Kissinger celebrates his 100th birthday. If each candle represents 1500 human lives, the cake represents the number of Cambodian civilians killed as a result of Kissinger's terror.
There is so much more evil that he did across the globe, but I guess we can save that for his 150th birthday.

After having listened to Finland's ESC song on repeat today, I got the weirdest inclination I've had in a while and started learning Finnish on Duolingo.
Kiitos.

Watch that fretboard and marvel. And I really thought Morrissey was so far gone with bitterness and hate these days that a eulogy to his ex-bandmate was beyond him. But his statement this evening is beautiful, and shows us a glimmer of the old Morrissey. " Sometimes one of the most radical things you can do is to speak clearly. When someone dies, out come the usual blandishments … as if their death is there to be used. I’m not prepared to do this with Andy. I just hope … wherever Andy has gone … that he’s OK. He will never die as long as his music is heard. He didn’t ever know his own power, and nothing that he played had been played by someone else. His distinction was so terrific and unconventional and he proved it could be done. He was also very, very funny and very happy, and post-Smiths, he kept a steady identity - never any manufactured moves. I suppose, at the end of it all, we hope to feel that we were valued. Andy need not worry about that." That statement was... weirdly reassuring to read. No matter how much you hate Morrissey, obviously he's not 100% a terrible person - but actually seeing that on display sure feels nice for a change.

RIP Andy Rourke 59 year old FFS. Such an incredible bassist. All great Smiths songs would still be great but not as great if it wasn't for Andy Rourke.

That Cha Cha Cha song is not well written, ofc that jury won't rate it high. First minute and 45 seconds are fun and better than anything else but then it is shit until the end. Loreen's song sound like it was created by AI but at least it is consistently average and professional from start to finish. Couldn't disagree more. The second chorus is good, the transition is seamless, and as the cherry on top it subtly incorporates the previous hook at the end to tie it all together. In Eurovision, that's as good as it gets, both in terms of quality and entertainment(incredible stage show).

Great new qotsa single. Already released in NZ/Aussie land I'm not sold on the chorus(yet at least), but there is no doubt in my mind that I'll enjoy the new album.

Didn't they sing pretty well? The commentator said they had bombed during rehearsals so I was paying more attention to that and they were... just fine? Compared to Greece and Denmark they were great. Had they been in Thursday's semi finals, I think they would've gone through. It doesn't matter anyway, Sweden will win. I hope not, but it will. So how are you all going to watch it? I'm watching it with friends and last year we had snacks from different countries. You know, Romanian chocolate, Polish sausages, French cheese etc.I think we might tone it down a bit this year. I will convert to any religion if it means "we" don't win tonight. Finland blew me away and they simply NEED to win. I might vote more than once for the first time ever just to make that happen. Will be watching with my brothers and a whole bunch of cheeze doodles and crisps 👍 Just hoping now that Ringo and/or Paul show up tonight, it would be disappointing if they didn't.

After having listened properly to all their albums for the first time really, I now have the answer to which the bands 20 best songs are. In chronological order, because I can't decide the rankings for most of them.
I Saw Her Standing There From Me To You A Hard Day's Night Ticket To Ride Eleanor Rigby For No One Yellow Submarine She Said She Said Fixing A Hole She's Leaving Home When I'm Sixty Four A Day In The Life Dear Prudence Blackbird Helter Skelter Something I Want You The End Two Of Us Let It Be
(Day Tripper was closest to making the list. Another observation which didn't surprise me but still is a bit remarkable is the fact that only four songs made pre-1966 made the list.)

I hope next year we'll send people who can actually sing and have been on a stage more than a handful of times. Didn't they sing pretty well? The commentator said they had bombed during rehearsals so I was paying more attention to that and they were... just fine?

McCartney's output on the White album is simply admirable. Covered every genre, did so flawlessly and seemingly effortlessly. My favourite Beatle by a mile. Agreed. From Honey Pie to Helter Skelter and Blackbird... What a composer. Those are the exact three examples I had in my head when I thought of his versitality on this album!

Better than the average German contribution, I'll say that much! You could say a lot worse, we are embarrassing. We completely miss the sense of humor or flavor of the competition. We had that one year with Lena and she was cute with a cute little song but other than that we just go there to compete for the last place Wanna switch? While Sweden always send "respectable" songs, we have NO sense of humor whatsoever, which in this competition I think is much worse than having bad humor. I honestly long for us to send a shitty song for once, one that is shitty for the right reasons.

What is the best Eurovision song of all time and why is it this masterpiece? That guy is James Blunt of Yugoslavian pop rock music. James Blunt is apparently good then!

Nevermind is a decent album, not much more. A 6/10 with some highlights but a reputation that is far greater than the actual product.
Something In The Way is one of the dullest pieces of music ever and I hated how it was further popularized through the new Batman movie. I despise how Kurt felt it necessary to spend an entire verse of Come As You Are just playing the same melody on his guitar and while Smells Like Teen Spirit will always be a good song it suffers from the same repetitive approach.

glider After having done so, I stand by my former opinion that it's an 8/10. Very even quality, but not as many peaks as I'd like. Made a ranking below. 1-6(great) Eleanor Rigby For No One She Said She Said Yellow Submarine(100% unironically) And Your Bird Can Sing Tomorrow Never Knows 7-11(Good/decent) Taxman Doctor Robert I'm Only Sleeping Love You To Here, There And Everywhere 12-14(Not shit, but not good enough) Got To Get You Into My Life Good Day Sunshine I Want To Tell You I can see Good Day Sunshine as being a bit Paul by numbers, it's really always been the production for it that stood out. However I can't see Got To Get You... and I Want To Tell You being mediocre , two infectious, timeless bops. I like the "chorus" of "GTGYIML" and the horns, but the rest of it leaves me uninterested. And I Want To Tell You is hardly George Harrison's best vocal performance(at 0:44 specifically), though that isn't my only problem with it

....Revolver? Literally a perfect record. The new stereo mix may change your mind. The best the album has ever sounded sonically. The Beatles don't have a single album that is genuinely great(9/10 or more). The first half of Abbey Road is in-cre-di-ble, but never was a fan of the medley... ....Revolver?
