Is it just me or does noel seem a lil less confident on stage now a days? Maybe liams success is really getting to him cuz he almost looks like a shell of himself up there it's weird. Watch this video If anything, he looks strangely animated. Like he is on coke again or something. He shouts a bit too much these days. |

I loved it on first listen and I still do. Of course everyone has it preferences, but I'm surprised about how some people really dislike this song.
It's poppy in the sense that it's uptempo, light and fun. But come on, it's not fockin Despacito. You can hear old Noel songs in it and lots of classic references (Beach boys, Ramones, Abba...). It's a bit like a Tarantino movie where lots of references from old movies collide into something new. The thing I do not like is that it sounds too much satured.
I guess it has relation with the sign of the times. For some reason people is not looking for fun, happy, quick songs, and believe me, they tend to be the hardest ones to write. But Noel's great asset always has been bringing joy (and melancholy, ok) with his music. And he is doing it with this one.

A tiresome topic I know, but can you imagine Liam singing this and the "She fell, she fell" with Noel doing the backing vocals instead? Thanks Would be epic, specially at the end, with Liam singing she fell she fell and Noel doing the other part at the same time. |

Chinatown was not a good single, but is a very good, even emotional song.
I like all the album. Really pleasant to listen from start, to finish. The worst could be Better run or I get by. They are generic Liam rockers, but somehow they work on the album. They are not as shit as, say, Shine a light with its 659 shines and come ons and all that shit that used to destroy Liam's songs.

Don't know what numbers he is gonna get, but Liam's team is destroying him, I mean, he puts the single out of nowhere on a monday, there's no video, no info, and he is in Philippines or something opening for a shit band. Bad times for NoelyG. Remember when everyone was complaining about Liam's team for announcing an album 6 months early? My how things change. We have a long way to go yet. Yeah men, I know Noel's gonna do well too (unless the album is really a big failure and the promo too). But it's good times knowing that Liam is a force again and Noel has to raise his game. In fact it's probably the best time to be a Gallagher fan since when? 2005? Cum on Noel, it's yer turn men, cum on!!! Show us what you got men!!! Looks like the leak it is imminent. |

Liam's album is safe, but it has to be that way. He comes from the Beady Eye failure and it's his first album for Warner.
But it's good safe: the songs he wrote are solid (Bold, All I need, Greedy are some of his best), and the other writers did a much much better job than Bell and Gem.
Add to it a great promotional job and there you go: Liam is a big star again.

Hay I thought Paper crown was Kurstin. I gotta say an album full of Liam tunes would have been a bit too much. But Bold, Ive all I need and Greedy soul are among the best songs he ever has written. They sound solid, complete, not unfinished like lots of his efforts.

1) When properly recorded, Liam really gives an extra punch to anything. Noel is a great singer but doesn't have it. Almost no one has it in 2017.
2) Kurstin is great. His three songs are the nearest we have been to a Noel penned-Liam sung song in the last years.
3) This album still has singles on it (Paper crown, Come back, Bold). If Noel doesn't have a strong single, I'm starting to believe Liam could sell more than him this time.
4) I think specially Bold, but also Greedy soul, are among the 4-5 best songs Liam has ever written.

Good pop Liam album. Maybe it's not very authentic music, but he did the right thing working with Kurstin and the others. The songs they gave him... they may not be classics but they work. They truly do. I mean, where ballroom figured, being a pleasant song and all, failed, Paper crown WORKS.
And other thing: the album still has strong singles to use: I can see Paper crown and Come back to me being hits. Noel truly has to raise his game to stop Liam this time!!
