I'm talking realistically about selection of producers, not what I ideally want. In which case, I've always said Rick Rubin, who as an aside was close to producing an Oasis album once.
In a fantasy world, they go wacky with Brian Eno or something like that which would be fun, but in a realistic world, it's Rubin all day long.
Although Danger Mouse has just come to mind. He suits any genre, and he did produce the best heavy sounding Black Keys records. Given Noel recently worked with them, it's not beyond possibility.

Who would we like to produce a new Oasis record? I think it's going to be Noel self producing, if it actually comes to happen, but I like some of Liam's producers. Wyatt, Kurstin and Grech Marguerat have all managed a nice enough sound on some tunes that remind me of Oasis. And if we're talking about old geezers trying to make a come back, we also have Andrew Watt, who seems to like collecting retirees I wouldn't say no to Liam's producers being hired. The songs were never a dirge like processions, and that's not because they weren't mid-tempo. I mean there were plenty of mid-tempo songs there, that's the standard thing with both Gallaghers but they all sounded fresh without being lumpen. It's maybe, just maybe, a tad too clean for Oasis, in which case you could get an established producer like Rick Rubin who would find the heavy hitting sound quite easily, along with ensuring the best selection of songs make the album. So Kurstin and co, not my preferred choice, but could certainly do worse.

A political correspondent dropping Oasis titles into his report on the BBC. It was a serious one about the UK's grim economic outlook too.

I think that's exactly why they shouldn't go near it it, and I suspect Noel would know that. Liam of course would jump at it. It would only pale in comparison to last time, best left alone I'd say. Knebworth's a nightmare to get to anyway, the size makes for bad sound, it's not really a good gig venue in any way except for thebrecord books. But it wouldn't pale in comparison to all the people who weren't born/were too young/couldn't go in 1996 that could experience it now. Liam did Knebworth, that was very well-received and memorable for everyone in the audience, and this would be even bigger. It would still be seen as treading old ground, quite literally. Nah, give the younger folk a brand new experience, something that can stand on its own without comparison to Knebworth. There's better venues than Knebworth, it's significance only exists because of the size of those gigs rather than the sheer quality, both venue wise and performance wise.

Well seeing as we were all so rudely interrupted 15 years ago today, let's continue the eighth album discussion exactly as we left it, so I'll get in first....
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HIRE A TOP PRODUCER

If only we knew what the studio was... Yeah, and it looks as if they are carrying equipment out of the studio. So I'd hazard a guess its the closing of Noel's studio for the foreseeable future and taking equipment out before it gathers dust. (P.S. Ad block the site so the right wing c***s don't receive any revenue).

Still think they really missed a trick, buy a version of the reissue of DM then get a presale code... I would have bought it then and I'm sure many would. With an added note from Liam to the casuals; "Learn the words or GTFO fanny".

I tried to register 3 times and still no confirmation email. At least they acknowledge the problem now : "Nearly there... Confirmation emails may be delayed, due to an extremely high volume of entries. Please follow the link to confirm your entry." Same, will hold tight. Fingers crossed for everyone on this forum.

I don't see any official confirmation of it, but I agree there most definitely won't be new music for next year. Its literally only been a few weeks but I'm hoping as they settle back into band life and interact more, that the discussion is had for plans beyond the gigs. Guess we'll wait and see how it pans out. Don't throw it all away lads!

There has to at least be a new song to go with the tour, maybe that was mentioned? I got caught up in the moment and drank 9 trillion beers yesterday, and wasn’t paying attention… God bless. Their press release explicitly said no new material. I think this is a suck it and see situation. One comeback / nostalgia tour. If they can stand each other and hold it together for that first tour, they’ll consider recording Noel’s rock album as Oasis before another tour. Where was that press release saying no new material?

Big fan of all these new members popping up giving it Billy Big Bollocks to all those who've stuck around during the fallow years.
Really does feel like the old days.

Has nobody heard? That's the lineup, just Liam and Noel, accompanied by a beat box like Ian Brown.

I think everything is arranged in such a way that all of this remains a secret until the very last day. Until a few hours ago, no one was 100% sure that this was happening. You schedule a few UK dates with trusted people: you don’t schedule a concert in Bulgaria where some Bulgarian would immediately brag that Oasis is coming to Bulgaria. You schedule a photoshoot with a trusted photographer, making a video involves a bunch of people - makeup artists, lighting technicians, sound engineers, editors... This is the first day of reunion, relax, we will get more photos, videos, dates... Yeah that's a fair point. Maybe it was just too difficult to get them in a room together because of the secrecy. Christ, they were 110% in the same room together! Have you not seen the raw images doing the rounds of them together at the same shoot?? Have you not seen the photographer express his gratitude at having the privilege at being hired to do the shoot? These images are modified to fit our tiny phone screens (e.g. whitewash the background to make clearer, move the brothers closer to one another to fit a thumbnail) but that's the only doctoring done.

I’m assuming that the photos were done completely separate by the look of them...does anyone know if they actually posed together in person? 100% together. There's granier stock images of them together from the same shoot. If there's photoshop going on in that image it's only to fit them in social media thumbnails and postings.

It's hard to imagine two brothers never having been in the same room together and spoken properly for 15 years.
There was that Olympics celebration that both were at in 2012 when they bumped into each other very briefly (Noel pointedly said 'behave' and that was that apparently). Outside of that very brief interaction, any other possible meetings? What a strange feeling it must have been regardless.

I think Liam alluded to dates being revealed on Friday, perhaps tomorrow a press release officially announcing the reunion? Whatever the case, I have no idea if I will see them. I've never seen them live, I sure as hell want to, but the likelihood of getting something this big is, fair to say, slim. But me getting to see them is beside the point and quite trivial. It wouldn't dampen my enthusiasm by any means. An overwhelming desire to see those two mad bastards bury the hatchet and be seen together for the first time in 15 years is enough for me. The hype, the recognition, the endless articles about what it is that makes this band unique - that feeling and obsession when I first listened to them all those years ago, it's all come together in the last couple of days again Meanwhile, I'm probably the only person here who never wanted them to reunite. (Check my post history. I've made it quite clear.) That said, now that, well, THE LEAK IS IMMINENT, I'll be there… if I can get my hands on a ticket. I was broadly of the same opinion mate, but I was honest in saying that despite not necessarily wanting the reunion, I'd nevertheless try and get front of the queue for tickets! Hey, love is contradictions though. But I've been enamoured by everyone's hype for it and the general acclaim outside of the fanbase that this has been met with.

If shows are announced tomorrow, tickets won't go on sale upon announcement. They'll wait until Thursday or Friday at the earliest in order to drum up more hype and to get pre-sale signups.
